    This is Tokawa, Shimanto Town, Kochi Prefecture, in the middle reaches of the Shimanto River.
    Over 500 carp streamers can be seen on the Shimanto River from late April to mid-May every year.

    “Carp streamer river crossing” was started in 1974 by the local “Tokawa Athletic Association” in hopes of helping children grow up healthy.
    It is said that this is the birthplace of the “carp streamer river crossing”, which later spread throughout Japan.
    I will explain about the unique Japanese custom of carp streamers.
    One of the traditional calendar events is Boy’s Festival. It is May 5th every year.
    There is a proverb called “Toryumon.” (Longmen)
    The meaning is a proverb that refers to overcoming obstacles that lead to success.
    Many fish tried to climb the waterfall called Ryumon in the rapids, but only the carp managed to climb and become a dragon, which is why the carp became a symbol of success in life.
    Carp streamers are carp-shaped streamers that are flown to express wishes for the healthy growth and future of children.

      ここは、四万十川中流域の高知県四万十町十川(とおかわ)です。
      四万十川では、毎年4月下旬から5月中旬にかけて500匹余りの鯉のぼりを見ることができます。
      「こいのぼりの川渡し」は子どもたちの健やかな成長を願って1974年に地元の「十川体育会」が始めたそうです。
      「こいのぼりの川渡し」はここが発祥の地で、その後日本全国へ広がっていったそうです。

      日本独自の風習の「鯉のぼり」について説明します。
      伝統的な暦行事のひとつに端午の節句があります。 それは毎年５月５日です。
      「登龍門（とうりゅうもん）」ということわざがあります。
      その意味は、成功へといたる難関を突破したことをいうことわざです。
      急流にある龍門と呼ばれる滝を多くの魚が登ろうと試みましたが鯉だけが登り切り、龍になることができた事にちなんで鯉は立身出世の象徴となりました。
      鯉のぼりは子供たちの健やかな成長と将来を讃える願いを込めて揚げられる鯉の形の吹流しです。

      この風景は　郊外の田舎で継続されてるのですか？
      愛媛は　もう　🎏は見る事ないです。
      あの行事は　お舅さんか　お姑さんが　上げ下げしてくれるところの家が　上げるとかで
      同居の所が　過去は多かったです。
      見に行く価値ある光景ですね😊
