シーズン最強寒波のなか、雪の降る金沢へ | 石川 | 冬 | 日本
JR Ueno Station I will board the Kagayaki train at 6:22 AM. There is space to store skis and snowboards. The ride takes approximately 3 hours from Ueno Station. At the beginning of February 2025, a record snowfall warning was issued for the Hokuriku region, where we are now heading. Once we reached the Sea of Japan side, the scenery suddenly turned snowy. We arrived at 8:43 AM. Is the weather okay? For the time being, there were no problems with the Shinkansen. A message saying “Welcome to Kanazawa.” There are many tourists at Kanazawa Station. The symbol of the east exit of Kanazawa Station is the Tsuzumimon Gate, which is said to be modeled after the drums used in Noh, a traditional performing art of Kanazawa. It is 13.7m tall and its wooden pillars are impressive. Once you pass through the gate, you will find the “Hospitality Dome.” The glass dome protects you from rain and snow. It was created with the image of someone offering an umbrella in rainy Kanazawa. We moved a little from the station. The city was covered in snow. First, breakfast! We head to Omicho Market. There are many shops lined up in the shopping district. You can also eat your way around. It’s hard to decide. I’m getting hungry. Our destination is a sushi restaurant that opens in the morning. arrival!! Morimori Sushi is open from 8am. Luckily, I was able to enter the store without any problems. Let’s have some warm Japanese tea. Crab miso soup Shellfish battleship, Tuna set It’s the brim. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. After filling our stomachs, we wandered around the shopping district. It seems like locals can do all their vegetable and meat shopping here. From Omicho Market, take a bus to Higashichaya. The townscape feels like you’ve traveled back in time to the Edo period. You can also rent a kimono and stroll around. The atmospheric old townscape has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government. It’s fun just to walk around with a camera. It’s also beautiful to see snow remaining on the roofs and roadsides. The roads are also paved with cobblestones. Each building has its own unique character and is enjoyable. Even today, the refined art of geisha is passed down. I think it’s relatively empty today, probably because of the stormy weather. Usually this area is full of tourists. Now, we will stop by “Fumuroya”, which is famous for its tofu. You can easily spot the shop by the curtain at the entrance that reads “Fu.” This snack, tofu, is apparently the most popular. Next door is the Fumuroya teahouse. The specialty here is “Shiratama Namafu,” which is raw gluten eaten in the style of shiratama. There is also hot fried food. This is warm kamaage namafu. It comes with two flavors: soybean flour and honey. First, eat it with kinako. Ah… This is the cold Shiratama style. It comes in three different flavors: kinako (roasted soybean flour), bean paste, and honey. The interior of the store has a calm atmosphere like this. Next is the Kutani ware shop, “Miya” (goo). Photography was prohibited inside the shop, so I only took a picture of the shop’s exterior. I was soothed by the beautiful pottery. This is another Kutani ware shop. The bold and vibrant colors are lovely. There are many pottery shops, so it’s fun to go shopping. I walked down a back street. This street also had a nice atmosphere. There was still snow on some roads, which was nice from a tourist’s perspective. An accessory store called “Isorashi.” The store staff were making cute ornaments for the storefront. Tea shop “Amano Tea Shop” 1:00 PM Head to Kanazawa Katamachi for lunch. For lunch, I had Nodoguro rice. This is a popular restaurant in Kanazawa. I recommend coming outside of lunch hours. Lunch hours are 12:00 – 2:30 PM, last orders are taken at 2:00 PM. I waited a little while and then went inside the store. It looks delicious. There is a recommended way to eat it, and for the first bowl, you should eat it as is. The second bowl is eaten with condiments on top. You can’t go wrong with wasabi. It looks like this. The third bowl is served ochazuke style. Served with specially made broth. The flavor of the blackthroat seapermeated the broth and it was absolutely delicious. Now, after lunch. This neighborhood has many remains of samurai residences and cobblestone streets. The snow is falling and the atmosphere is great. It’s like a period drama. This corner at the site of Nagamachi Samurai Residences is also very beautiful. I’d love to explore the area in different seasons. This is apparently a Kutani ware kiln. Up ahead is Nagamachi Ninohashi, but just before that there was a nice shop. The restaurant has a modern Japanese atmosphere that blends in with the atmosphere of a samurai residence. How lovely! Is the name of the shop shining? Maybe? This is an interior design shop that sells products made from diatomaceous earth. This is a vase. The texture of the diatomaceous earth is wonderful. This is the area around the toiletries. The view from inside the restaurant makes you want to stay for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed it and ended up buying a few. Please do stop by. Once you pass through the samurai residences, you will come to Nagamachi Ninobashi. The view of the river and the residences is also a popular photo spot. It’s 2:40 PM, so we move a little and arrive at the Mizuhiki Museum. Admission fee is 500 yen for adults (3.3 USD x 150 JPY) Once you open the entrance, you’ll find a wonderful space. The facility allows only a few people to enter at a time, so we were able to take our time taking photos. Mizuhiki is a decorative string used on gifts and celebratory envelopes, and this lamp is made by weaving this string. It’s amazing how the materials and knitting method can create such a Japanese feel. The entire room is surrounded by Mizuhiki lighting like this. It’s really beautiful. It was very nice. It’s a little far from the center, but it’s a recommended spot. Now, let’s move on to the next place. I came to Itaya, a famous Kanazawa confectionery shop. Apparently there is usually a line up on these stairs. The “Komokaburi” served here is a specialty. If you’re lucky, you may be able to see a craftsman demonstrate the process. It’s not fast forwarding. What happens to this piece of string? It will be filled with bean paste and chestnuts. This is where the quick work of craftsmanship begins! The string mentioned earlier was ultimately used to wrap the toasted seaweed around it. When you see it with your own eyes, there’s no way you can leave without trying it! Each Komokaburi costs 335 yen (2.23 USD x 150 JPY). It tastes better when left to rest for a while than when it’s freshly baked. 7:00 PM I go out for dinner. Oops, the snow is falling. It’s snow mixed with sleet. We’ll have Kanazawa oden for dinner! I made a reservation and visited. Kanazawa oden is rich in ingredients. I think the most famous ingredient is kurumafu. Speaking of oden, the radish used is also a local ingredient. The broth is sweeter and milder in flavor than oden from the Kanto region. This is also a specialty, fried white shrimp. It is very flavorful and delicious. The oden menu is also available in English, so you can have peace of mind. Thank you for the meal. I’m heading back to the hotel. The hotel we will be staying at today is Nono Kanazawa, a Dormy Inn hotel. It’s a new hotel and very clean. This is the toilet and shower room. Since it is a Dormy Inn hotel, there is a large public bath, so I probably won’t use the shower room. But it’s reassuring to have that. It’s very beautiful. The room is quite compact but adequate. The tatami mats are very relaxing. By the time we got back to the hotel, a blizzard had started outside. As a free service, you can eat a mini ramen called Yonaki Soba. I’m heading to Takayama tomorrow. Good night. good morning. Although I’m concerned about traffic conditions due to the bad weather today, I’m heading to Takayama. That’s all for this video. Thank you for watching. I hope you’ll continue watching the next video.
