Fukushima City , Fukushima Prefecture This time, we will introduce Itoen Hotel Iizaka Kanaya (hereinafter Kanaya) in Iizaka Onsen, Fukushima Prefecture. Iizaka Onsen is a hot spring town in Fukushima City, and is one of the three famous hot springs in Oshu, along with Naruko Onsen and Akiu Onsen in Miyagi. Iizaka Onsen has a long history, and according to legend, it has existed since the time of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, who appears in the Kojiki in the 2nd century AD. It also appears in Matsuo Basho’s “Oku no Hosomichi”. Kanaya is a popular hot spring inn where you can enjoy the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink buffet buffet, which is unique to the Itoen Group, at an excellent value for money. In this video, we will introduce the full picture of Kanaya, an all-inclusive hot spring inn , including multiple rooms, baths, private baths, and facilities within the hotel, including rooms with semi-open-air baths . History and Overview Japan’s oldest wooden public bathhouse, Sabako- yuAt its peak in the 1960s, there were more than 120 hot spring inns in Iizaka Onsen . As the times have changed, the number of inns has dropped to around 60. Kanaya is located along the Surikami River that flows through the center of Iizaka Onsen . The predecessor of Itoen Hotel Iizaka Kanaya was the Iizaka Kanko Hotel, founded in 1962. In 2010, it was rebranded as Itoen Hotels , which operates more than 50 hotels nationwide with all-you-can-drink buffets at exceptional value prices starting from 8,000 yen including tax . The current Kanaya has 7 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, with a total of 75 rooms. It is a medium-sized hot spring hotel in Iizaka Onsen. It is a 15-minute walk from Iizaka Onsen Station on the Fukushima Transportation Iizaka Line . There is also a shuttle bus that does not require a reservation, and it is about 8 minutes from the Fukushima Iizaka Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway , so it is easily accessible. Enter the hotel through the modern yet historic entrance. Front lobbyThe front lobby is open and has high-class sofas, so it can be used for meeting up. You can also see the view of the Surikami River from the window. Front deskDiet tea “Hyakususui” and Gagome kelp tea are available. Yukata are provided. They all have the same pattern. In the back, there is a TV, newspaper, ice maker, microwave, etc. The wooden carved eagle is impressive. Let me introduce the facilities in the building. Dinner was served in three parts and breakfast in two parts (subject to change depending on how busy it is) . A private bath can be reserved at check-in (first come, first served, 30 minutes per group). About the rooms There are 75 rooms in total, and they are basically divided into four types. Japanese- style bedroom with semi-open-air bath (after renovation) This is the newest and most luxurious type. There are 53 Japanese-style rooms (Kanaya’s standard rooms) They come in a variety of sizes, from 8 tatami mats to 20 tatami mats. There are single and twin Western-style rooms, and most of the rooms are on the mountain side. There are 6 Japanese-Western rooms. We will introduce all types of rooms. Room review Room 115 Japanese-Western type The front side is carpeted and the back is tatami mats. This is a Japanese-style living room. The window is small, but you can see the Surikami River up close, which is a nice view 👍 The Japanese-style room, which corresponds to the living room, was 8 tatami mats. This room is basically for 3 people or more . Tea and sweets (for 1 person) The Japanese -style room and bedroom are separated and are spacious. There are two single-sized beds on a carpeted floor. You have to bring your own water and ice. There is nothing in the refrigerator. There was a haori coat in the closet. You can borrow a yukata from the lobby. The washroom was simple. There was a toothbrush and a hair dryer. The toilet has a washlet . WiFi is available in the room. The communication speed is at this location. There is no problem with the mobile phone signal. Next is the Japanese-style bedroom with a semi-open-air bath . It is very new from the entrance because it was renovated in December 2023. The minibar had mineral water, sweets, tea bags, etc. The washroom is simple but new and clean♪ The closet is a walk-in type and very spacious♪ The toilet has a washlet. The Japanese-style modern bedroom with a semi-open-air bath is a very large room of about 15 tatami mats in total. The view was a river view (sorry for the blur 😅). There are two Simmons semi-double beds, and they look very comfortable (^^♪ There is a large TV hanging on the wall. You can see the bath from the room . This is the semi-open-air bath in the guest room. It is made of stone, giving it a luxurious feel, and is very spacious 👍 It is nice to be able to take a bath in the hot spring anytime ♪ The water is colorless, transparent, and odorless, and is easy to bathe in. There is also a washing area provided. Next, we will introduce a 12-tatami Japanese-style room with a Japanese atmosphere from the entrance ♪ This is a 12-tatami Japanese-style room. The entire room is covered with tatami mats. This is also a river view (also out of focus 😅). Finally, there is a single Western-style room. The sink, toilet, and bathtub are all in one. The room is small, but it is a Western-style room with carpeting throughout. It had a view of the mountains. There was a compact TV, kettle, tea and snacks on the desk. The bed is a semi-double size . Instead of a closet, there was a hanger on the wall. Bath introduction The source of the spring is Iizaka Onsen, a simple hot spring with a pH of 8.7, and the spring temperature is 66℃ . Hygiene is managed by adding water, heating, and filtering and disinfecting. There is also a washing area. It’s dinner time . It’s the dinner buffet that we’re looking forward to . The meal time is divided into three parts (depending on how busy it is). The venue is very spacious and there is plenty of room. There were also seats with a view of the river. We will introduce all of our proud buffet from here. First, the hot food corner : Eight treasures, mapo tofu, fried rice, chikuwa , fried seaweed, sweet potato tempura, local menu, sauce cutlet!
