【 新緑の京都 4K 60ｐ】法然院　神楽岡町とカフェ「茂庵」

I visited Hōnen-in Temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, in early May. On the way to Hōnen-in,I took a walk along the Philosopher’s Path. At this time of year, the Philosopher’s Path is enveloped in greenery and feels very refreshing. I especially love the Philosopher’s Path during this season when the scent of plants and trees fills the air. As you climb the slope and look back, you can see Mount Yoshida. Kaguraoka and “Mo-an,” which I’ll introduce later, are located on Mount Yoshida. After walking through a quiet residential area for a while, Eventually, you’ll see the entrance to the temple gate. In early summer, the fresh green leaves and moss at Hōnen-in create a beautiful green world. Now, please enjoy Hōnen-in in early summer, surrounded by greenery. Today’s Break This time, I visited the café Mo-an, located on Mount Yoshida in Kaguraoka-chō. There are various ways to get to Mo-an, But this time, I went through Kaguraoka-chō. Kaguraoka-chō is a quiet neighborhood located southwest of Yoshida Shrine. Scattered Taisho-era wooden houses give the area a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The old wooden houses and peaceful atmosphere are quite nostalgic. The emotional alleyways look like film locations. These wooden houses look like they belong in a period drama. This is a setting where towering summer clouds would look perfect. Everywhere you look is photogenic. Someday, I’d like to take my time photographing this area. Passing through Kaguraoka, I head toward Mount Yoshida. I climb yet another atmospheric alleyway, A stairway path that would suit a summer evening. At the top, a wonderful view spreads out before you. When I glance to the side, I see a small entrance. This is the entrance to Mo-an. It feels like a secret entrance. Passing through the entrance, you’re led into a grove wrapped in deep silence. Mo-an originated as a tea house established during the Taisho period by entrepreneur Shigejiro Tanikawa. Today, it still retains its original charm and is operated as a café by his descendants. Feeling the pleasant early summer breeze through the trees, I head toward Mo-an. Passing the teahouse, Mo-an eventually comes into view. Mo-an sits on a high open plateau of Mount Yoshida. As video recording is not allowed inside Mo-an, I’ll introduce it through photos this time. The spacious interior, surrounded by the greenery of Mount Yoshida, features many windows that feel very open. Light from the greenery shines in through the windows on all sides. From the eastern counter, you can look out over Kyoto city. This time, I sat on the west side and spent some time gazing at the greenery of Mount Yoshida. The fresh green of Mount Yoshida is very soothing to the eyes. Traditional-style light bulbs gently illuminate the interior. It seems they usually offer light meals, but they weren’t available this time, So I ordered the sweet red bean mochi butter hot sandwich set. A set with a hot sandwich, vanilla ice cream, and Japanese black tea. The hot sandwich was crispy on the outside, and the texture of the mochi and red bean paste inside was exquisite—absolutely delicious. Surrounded by nature and history, Mo-an is a mysterious café that feels like it couldn’t possibly be in the city. Spending time in the quiet atmosphere became a truly special moment.

今回は左京区にある法然院に伺いました。
有名な山門の法然寺ですが、この時期は新緑と苔が相まって、
一面緑の世界となります。
美しい静かな時間を過ごせました。

そのあと、吉田山の神楽岡町に向かい
カフェ茂庵にお邪魔しました。
神楽岡町もですが吉田山に在る茂庵は、
街中とは思えない雰囲気でした。
また機会があれば伺いたいです。
