Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Shirahama Saichoraku Hello! This is Hozuki. This travelogue is about a trip to Wakayama Prefecture (2 days, 1 night)! This time, I stayed at the inn “Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Shirahama Saichoraku” in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture! Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where Shirahama Saichoraku is located, is about 2 hours by car from Osaka. By train, it takes about 2.5 hours from Osaka to JR Shirahama Station, and there is a free shuttle from Shirahama Station (first come, first served) . There are also direct round-trip buses from Kyoto, Shin-Osaka, and Tennoji Park! (5,920 yen round trip) At Shirahama Saichoraku, you can enjoy a lounge where you can drink alcohol and karaoke, and the hot spring is a luxurious space surrounded by bright and spacious nature, and you can enjoy the gentle spring water that is gentle on your skin! And the dishes include steamed bamboo steamer, raw tuna, and steak! In particular, the steamed bamboo steamer, where you can choose your favorite ingredients, is exquisite! For the final course, we had Wakayama ramen, sweets, and Haagen-Dazs! Also, from September 1st, it will be renewed as an Oedo three-star buffet! It seems that you can eat all-you-can-eat bluefin tuna and black wagyu beef sukiyaki! For breakfast, we were very satisfied with the Oedo Onsen specialty topping bowl ! Depending on the date and plan, the price starts from about 12,000 yen per person! (As of May 2025) This time, I would like to tell you about the charm of Shirahama Saichoraku, Wakayama Prefecture, and Shirahama Town. Thank you for your continued support! First, we took the Kinki Expressway to Wakayama! *I’m sorry, but the image quality may be poor at the beginning of this time because the camera settings were wrong. Next, we took the Hanwa Expressway and headed straight for Wakayama! First, we got off at Arita IC to have lunch! It takes about 3 minutes to arrive from Arita IC! This is Shirasu-ya Yuasawan Noritane! It seems that you can also eat raw whitebait! There is also a set of raw whitebait and boiled whitebait! Yay! Gottsuan DON bowl (less rice) Apparently there is a lot of rice, so even with less, it’s still this much! My partner ordered a luxurious bowl of Sanshoku DON bowl with whitebait, sea urchin, salmon roe, and salmon! The raw whitebait is the freshest ever! This is delicious! The boiled whitebait is also super delicious! Fluffy and slightly sweet! Mix it with the egg and it’s delicious! My partner also gave me salmon. It’s delicious. The salmon roe and sea urchin are also super delicious! And this bowl is a great deal! It was a very satisfying lunch! Thank you for the meal! From Minami-Arita IC to Shirahama again! Get off the highway at Nanki-Tanabe (connecting to the toll road) and get off at the Kamitonda exit! Of course, we’ll stop by Toretore Market again this time! lol I feel like I see this tuna about once a month ! lol I found a limited edition product from Wakayama beer, Nagisa Beer! It’s Golden Ale (440 yen)! I want to try it! It’s about 5 minutes from Toretore Market to the inn! There’s plenty of parking space! Yay! Today’s inn is Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Shirahama Saichoraku! The entrance has a premium feel! This is the only Oedo Onsen in Shirahama that I haven’t been to yet! Then, I’m off to check in! There are lots of yukatas next to the front desk. They’re colorful. You can use the lounge before you enter your room! (Rooms are available from 3pm) A nice lounge! There was also an outdoor area! Drinks include tea, coffee, soft drinks… plum wine, yuzu wine, and blueberry wine, which are typical of Wakayama. Lemon sour, highballs, and beer (Super Dry) are also available! They even have red and white wine! Amazing! I think I’ll try the yuzu wine! I’ll mix it with soda! (It’s still too early to get drunk) Well, we’ve arrived… a toast . Mmm, it’s delicious! The refreshing yuzu is great! The kids’ area is quite substantial! This means the waiting time won’t be a problem! The table tennis corner can be used from before 3pm! The interior is also nice. Flowers. There was also a panda photo booth (an old way of saying it)! It seems that you can use karaoke! Since we’re here, let’s try karaoke! There are rooms that can accommodate a large number of people! There are also rooms for children! Amazing! We are in our 40s and we were in the smallest room…lol ~my partner was singing with all his might~ while we were singing with all our might, it was time to enter our room! Let’s head to our room! This time, we were in a room on the 6th floor! We passed through a chic-looking corridor… and then we entered! The key was the old-fashioned type. Once inside, there was another door! This is a feeling that the room will be spacious! [Non-smoking] Standard Japanese bed twin room with indoor bath , very spacious! And ocean view! The view from the room is the sea of Shirahama! Oh, there is also a pool below. It’s a pretty nice view! Pots, cups, remote controls, etc. are here. There is a refrigerator under the shelf. It was a normal-sized refrigerator! Cups and tea are here. There were four cups. The TV in the room is wall-mounted. And the bed! I still prefer beds to futons! (To prevent back pain) There is a light switch and an outlet on the bed board. Thank goodness. There is also an air conditioner! You can stay comfortably! This is the closet. It is quite spacious. Here are the towels. You bring your own towel to the hot spring! There was also a Sharp air purifier. Next, let’s take a look at the bathroom. The washroom is a stylish type! It’s nice. The hair dryer is from Koizumi. The only amenities are a toothbrush. Next, the toilet. It is a little old, but it has a washlet! And the bath… the washing area is quite spacious! And it’s bright! You can see the ocean from the bath! It’s a really nice room! It looks like it will be a fun stay! After taking a short break in the room, we headed out to explore the building and the hot spring! Oh, it seems you can play putt-putt golf on the rooftop terrace. Wow. It looks like a pretty large course! Maybe because we were early, they were just servicing it! Next, here is the relaxation salon! And a little further in is the large public bath and restaurant. In front of the large bath is a rest area (post-bath lounge). You can enjoy alcohol after your bath! (until midnight) And behind the rest area, there is also a manga corner! This is nice. It would be nice to read manga while drinking here…lol. The drinks are the same as those in the lounge near the front desk. They even have popsicles! I want to eat them after my bath! Now, let’s head to the large bath that we have been waiting for! There is “Irodori no Yu” and “Morning Bath” (switched between morning and evening) . This is the “Morning Bath”. At this time, it was the men’s bath! And this is “Irodori no Yu” and the private bath! Now, let’s enjoy the hot spring! “Irodori no Yu” is an open-air bath full of rustic charm, and you can enjoy Shirahama Onsen while looking at nature! The large bath is covered with tatami mats, so there is a Japanese atmosphere, and you can relax and enjoy the very warm water! And “Morning Bath” is an open-air bath surrounded by greenery! It is also very nice to enjoy the hot spring in an open space. The indoor bath of the morning bath is quite large and open, and it was a hot spring suitable for relaxing! And near the pool there is another hot spring, “Raku no Yu”! This is a hot spring that you can enter in your swimsuit, and apparently you can enter right after getting out of the pool! It feels great to soak in a hot spring with a cold body! There is also a private bath, which costs 1000 yen per hour! It’s a very reasonably priced hot spring that you can enjoy! And then it’s time for a beer after the bath! Beer, beer. Yay. After the bath… a toast to a post- bath beer is the best! It seeps into your body… I couldn’t wait and went to check out the restaurant. This is Kuroshio from the venue! Ah, there’s a bouldering corner, too. The game corner was also up and running! There was still a little time before dinner, so I had another drink in the lounge! Lol This time it was plum wine. My partner had some kind of tea (my explanation is rough) Ah, the shop is open! They sell mandarin orange juice, which is typical of Wakayama, as well as Kagero, a famous Wakayama confectionery, and a super-giant stuffed panda! Ah, they also sell Nagisa beer! After that, we took a short break in our room, and then it was time for the long-awaited dinner! Woosh! Kuroshio Buffet Restaurant, unreserved seating! We grabbed our trays and plates and headed out! First, salad! (The image quality is a bit poor) The salad was tiered, corn, broccoli, cucumber, potato salad, cabbage, onion, lettuce, and red radish! There were four types of dressing! (I chose the classic green shiso) I found Haagen-Dazs! Yay. This is Shanghai fried noodles. Let’s eat! Next is cream pasta with sakura shrimp and rape blossoms, flavored with basil. This is a hamburger steak with demi-glace sauce. Looks delicious! Next is fried chicken, and next to it is spring rolls. Freshly fried! And here are natural french fries. Next is mapo tofu, and oven-baked tuna collar! Let’s eat! Here is a garden-style salad of tuna and wheat. Bamboo shoots and beef stew. Looks delicious! Next is boiled pumpkin, and there is also lotus root kinpira! This is mozuku seaweed! I love mozuku seaweed! Here is a salad of onions and thick-sliced bamboo shoots. The bamboo shoots are thick! Sirloin steak! …I can’t get enough of it, so next…lol Next is sashimi! Salmon sashimi! Yay! And here is raw tuna sashimi! Looks delicious! There was also sweet shrimp sashimi ! There are six types of soy sauce! I tried the raw soy sauce “Shoro”! Sushi! We had firefly squid with wakame seaweed and vinegared miso! We also had Wakayama’s specialty saury sushi and mehari sushi. We also had raw tuna sushi, squid sushi, and tuna overflowing sushi! We also had egg sushi and salmon sushi, but we had Sakura Inari sushi! Finally, we had the specialty hot spring steamed fish! First, we had cabbage, then corn and sweet potato, but we went for the squid! Looking at the pork, we then had shrimp! It was big! Finally, a turban shell! This was great! Then we had sausages! The sauce was made with green onions and grated maple leaves… I think I’ll have it with ponzu sauce! For drinks, we had oolong tea! Hozuki’s choice – steamed fish and seasonal ingredients, local ingredients – first of all, it’s steamed fish! Lots of seafood! Then salmon, tuna, sushi, firefly squid seafood, and vegetables (and seaweed) such as bamboo shoots, mozuku seaweed, and menma. A hearty trio of Shanghai fried noodles, hamburger steak, and oven-grilled tuna! With a salad on the side, it’s perfectly balanced nutritionally! I’d like to eat it like this! First, light the steamed bamboo steamer! Enjoy it♪ And first, the veggies! Delicious red radish. Tuna! As expected from Wakayama, it’s fresh! Chewy and delicious! Really tasty tuna! This is salmon! Thickly cut and looks delicious! Fatty and delicious salmon! So happy. And mozuku seaweed! It’s a food I really like. Soft and crunchy. And this bamboo shoot is thick but soft and super yummy! The Shanghai fried noodles are also full of seafood! Delicious. The tuna loin has a great flavor! Is it okay to have it at a buffet!? Demi-glace hamburger steak. Meat is good too. The bamboo shoots are crunchy and go well with the flavor of the meat! Tuna overflowing sushi! The tuna is really big and delicious! The tuna is so delicious! It’s fresh! The firefly squid makes you feel the season. It’s delicious. The Sakura Inari sushi is also delicious. The fried tofu is delicious! I ‘m off for a second serving! (I forgot to take a picture of the empty plate…) Another salmon! Another tuna! The sashimi is delicious! Rice! Yume Mizuho from Ishikawa Prefecture. And next to it is beef curry! I’ll eat it later! There’s a huge amount of pickles! Umeboshi and Shibazuke, etc. Next is a chawanmushi made with Nanko plums! Wakayama! I’ll have one! (Ouch) Next to it is miso soup! Sushi again. Which one should I have? Oh, there’s mackerel and shrimp too! (It was crowded earlier, but it’s empty now) The tempura corner. Sweet potato tempura and this is green pepper tempura. Let’s eat! And freshly fried shrimp tempura! Yay. Seasonal bamboo shoot tempura! Good! I’ll have it with salt! I’ll have cream pasta with sakura shrimp and rape blossoms! I think I’ll have mapo tofu too! More sansho pepper! (There was a lot of it.) I’ll have lotus root kinpira too! This thick-sliced bamboo shoot is so good I’ll have it again. I’ll have steak too! Freshly grilled! Mashed potatoes, romanesco and steak sauce! There’s fruit too! I’ll come back later. I’ll have more tuna overflowing rolls! (Why didn’t I get it earlier? lol) When I returned to my seat, the steamed bamboo shoots were ready! It looked incredibly delicious combined with the steam! Hozuki’s choice – a festival of steamed bamboo shoots, steak and tempura – starting with the steamed bamboo shoots! Wow. Looks delicious! And the steak. This is also freshly grilled! I would like to eat it like this! First, squid! Mmm, nice aroma! The sourness of the ponzu sauce and the lightness of the squid are a great match! Next, shrimp! It was hot to peel, so it was a bit difficult! Lol The shrimp was delicious! It would have been endless if they had peeled it! Lol Next, turban shell! It’s great with a slight bitterness and rich flavor! The turban shell’s broth is also great with its flavorful umami! Next, steak! This is also delicious! Green pepper tempura is rare! And delicious! I’ll have the bamboo shoot and beef stew again! And then the menma for the third time! My plan is to work off the calories with addictive oolong tea! (It won’t go down) Hozuki’s Choice – enjoying the food I want to eat as I head to the end – First, we have the steamed food in a bamboo steamer, which is only protein (a little bit of fat) and a beef curry with plenty of meat! Then we repeat the delicious food (snacks, I guess) and enjoy it with oolong tea ! We light the steamed food again ! It’s going to be delicious (I ‘m looking forward to it) The snack trio is really good (menma is my favorite) and then the curry! The umami of the meat! Quite mild! Delicious! A bargain!? We’ll make them into mitarashi dango! There is plum kuzu manju, and cherry blossom crema cotta. Let’s eat! Then there was grape jelly, baked cheese, and strawberry trifle! For fruit, I got my favorite pineapple! I also added grapefruit! And then my fourth bamboo shoots! Lol And then I got some fried chicken! (Is this the time?!) And then I made Wakayama ramen! Draining the water was fun! I’m looking forward to the ramen. The soup smells good! It looks delicious! Topped with char siu and green onions! And finally, Haagen-Dazs! Both strawberries and matcha! I think I’ll have some! Oh, let’s have some satsumaage too! Finally, I got a sausage! I had oolong tea to drink! My partner looked like this. I’m curious about the space at the bottom! Shoki’s choice – a hearty breakfast centered around toppings on rice – starting with the famous toppings on rice! It looks great with okra on top! Lol And salad! I always start with a salad in the morning! Then I have Japanese-style side dishes of kinpira, komatsuna, and taro , and hearty side dishes of shumai, minced meat cutlet, and hash browns!
