【Kyoto Vlog】初夏の京都 2泊3日 大人旅 | 雑貨 | カフェ | お気に入りと偶然出会ったお店

We came to Kyoto for a 3-day, 2-night trip. It’s been a while since we were last in Kyoto, so we’re looking forward to it. We found a delicious-looking restaurant recommended by the hotel for lunch. It seems to be a famous place for motsu ramen. They renovated an old traditional house, and the space is really charming. The delicious smell is making it hard to wait. Oh! It’s Korean style. I decided to add some sansho pepper. The soup is seafood and pork bone based, and very creamy. It’s a flavor I’ve never experienced before. The noodles had a chewy texture and were really delicious. They were playing stylish music inside the restaurant. Mmm, so good! Thank you for the meal. After ramen, it’s time for something sweet! Today’s selection of Japanese sweets is on display. “We want everyone to feel warm inside.” That’s the sentiment behind this shop. The interior is also lovely, and you can even purchase teaware and plates. I ordered chilled sencha with strawberry blossom and kinome. My husband chose kinome and a sweet called Razu. These delicate seasonal sweets truly make my heart flutter. Being able to see the courtyard adds a sense of calm. I fell in love with this teacup that looks like a flower petal. So I decided to buy it. It’s made by Sakiko Tomibe, a popular pottery artist based in Kyoto. I can’t wait to use it! We came to visit a family grave. Remembering our loved one. Expressing our gratitude brings peace to the heart. On the way to our next destination, we came across some tableware for sale. This kind of thing is so uniquely Kyoto! I hesitated since it looked perfect for daily use, but decided to be careful. Both the packaging and payment were self-service. That purple dish was such a beautiful color too. We finally visited the Kawai Kanjiro Memorial Museum, a place I’ve always wanted to see. This house was built by Kanjiro, inspired by traditional houses from all over Japan. It was constructed in 1937. In the architecture, furnishings, and artworks, you can really feel Kanjiro’s deep respect for everyday life. The flowers arranged here and there are also lovely. Just imagining that he created his works and lived in this space makes my heart beat faster. I was amazed at how big the kiln was. Heading up to the second floor. It reminded me of my grandfather’s house—there was something nostalgic about it. Old houses were really built with such care and attention to detail. I thought it was just a decoration, but it was a real cat. Each of these pieces is rare and truly captivating. Since we’re traveling, we couldn’t take any perishables home. I decided to try some simmered wheat gluten as a side for rice. It was apparently a valuable source of protein for monks who avoided meat. It has a texture similar to meat. Next up is soup fu. Adding wheat gluten to vegetable soup gives it a nice accent. They gave me a recipe, so I’ll try making it once I’m home. I bought basil-flavored fu, and the simmered kind as well. For dinner, we went to our favorite restaurant, Agiyao. We’ve gone back many times. Since it’s a seafood and white wine restaurant,
my wine-loving husband was excited. The menu lists the daily recommendations. The restaurant was renovated and now looks very stylish! I had peach juice, and my husband had sparkling wine—cheers! The appetizer was a seafood tartare monaka. It was filled with various kinds of seafood. Seared skipjack tuna carpaccio with tapenade sauce. It’s unbelievably good! The combination of the tuna and tapenade sauce is perfect,
and the texture of the onions really works! For the second round, he had this wine labeled “D.” Rosemary-flavored French fries. They came with a “shake well” style. So good I can’t handle it! It was so good I ate every last crumb. The bag is from GCF, a brand my friend and I create together. Next up, seafood and Kujo green onion cream croquette. The crust was tough, and I struggled with it. Here comes the knife! Should’ve thought of that sooner! It had the kind of flavor you can only enjoy at a restaurant. For the third glass, he had a wine recommended by the staff. We finished with rare-fried golden eye snapper and round eggplant. Rare-fried ?! It was so juicy and incredibly delicious again! This place is always amazing, and I’m moved every time I visit. Kyoto involves a lot of walking, but we were tired, so we took the bus. A music bar my husband had wanted to visit. They play records using professional audio equipment. I had pulpy orange juice. My husband had Pinot Noir. A toast to end the day. A famous jazz record was playing. Searching for the route back. Apparently, 90% of the customers are from overseas. We’re doing our best to walk back. Nishiki Market after closing time. It was a fulfilling first day. A slightly chilly morning. Red × black outfit. We went to Tan in Sanjo Shirakawa for breakfast today. “Tan” expresses a desire to share small acts of sincerity
and good things from the Tango Peninsula. That’s the meaning behind the name. You can really taste the true flavors of the ingredients—so delicious. The rice is cooked in a traditional pot. Freshly cooked rice is incredibly good! Every part of the breakfast was made with care and sincerity. You can truly feel the thoughtfulness behind it. I got a second helping of rice and made tamago-kake gohan. The simple combination of delicious rice and egg is just perfect! Mmm, so good! After breakfast, we went up to the salon on the second floor. It felt like being in a friend’s home. We relaxed while watching the willows sway
in the wind and the river flow. My husband had a coffee. I had an orange juice. Having slow, peaceful moments like this is one of the joys of traveling. After breakfast, we headed to the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art. While in Kyoto, we saw a poster by chance—since we’re Yayoi Kusama fans, we couldn’t resist and changed our plans on the spot. There were so many works we’d never seen before—we were thrilled as fans. And of course, the souvenir shop I love. They even had a cute children’s picture book
biography series about Kusama. This is a tea bag designed to look like a matchstick. It would make a great souvenir! These are mascot magnets of historical figures. Since we were tired, we stopped for tea
at Blue Bottle Coffee near Nanzenji Temple. The building had a very Kyoto-style design. There were many visitors from overseas. I had an avocado and shiso panini and matcha cheesecake. Shops in Kyoto always make such stylish use of space. They were also selling Kyoto-exclusive handkerchiefs. This was a shop I had always wanted to visit. They were holding an exhibition of lacquerware
by Kang Seok-keun from Korea. The curves were so beautiful, I was mesmerized. When I held one, I was surprised at how light it was. This one had a bit more thickness to it. Everything selected in the shop was just so lovely. And chatting with the shop staff was also a delight. I’m grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. While walking, we happened to come across a Kinokuniya store. It’s a concept shop celebrating Kinokuniya’s 115th anniversary. Their eco bag is also celebrating its 30th anniversary. This glittery eco bag, and the collaboration cookies with Izumiya are exclusive to this location. They kindly invited us to have tea in the tea room at the back. We had Kinokuniya’s original oolong tea called “Hana.” I didn’t even know Kinokuniya had its own tea. It was also my first time learning that Japan produces oolong tea. The oolong tea was incredibly delicious! There was a courtyard with several chairs
where you could sit and enjoy the view. They said they grow all kinds of things in the garden,
including flowers and vegetables. It seems like you can enjoy the garden in every season. This is a beautifully shaped trapezoid bonsai. When I come to Kyoto, I really feel the charm of tradition. At the same time,
there’s a sense of how it’s skillfully adapted to modern styles. We stepped in casually, but were treated with such wonderful hospitality. It gave us a sense of Kinokuniya’s philosophy and values. I’ve become a huge fan. They also had some collaborations with long-established Kyoto shops. These rice crackers are available in Tokyo too,
but here they somehow look more upscale. We were able to walk in casually,
but apparently, you usually need a reservation. It’s a historic shop that has been around since the late Edo period. They let you try each scent you’re interested in, one by one. That’s something you usually can’t do at other stores,
so I really appreciated it. And the prices are quite reasonable too. They even offer shipping services. This is a community shop
that discovers long-life designs from local areas and communicates the unique character of the region. They carry carefully selected food items as well as interior goods. Is this a tag for travel bags? They also had a curated selection of clothing! There were even books and furniture. I found a red stole in my kind of color. I was looking for a summer one, and the texture and color were just right. It was a perfect match, so I decided to buy it. It was a shop that made me feel happy just browsing. It’s located within the grounds of Bukkoji Temple. I had always been curious about this place every time I passed by. Although it’s a traditional Kyoto townhouse, its facade has a modern, Western-style appearance. Inside the shop, there were also Chinese design elements,
and it was absolutely beautiful. Squid and celery salad. Crab and egg ankake fried rice. The fluffy egg ankake was irresistible. The shark fin noodles were delicious too! The courtyard was in a Japanese style,
but the mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese design was exquisite and luxurious—it was really stunning. To end the day, we visited a music lounge. This is a trendy spot that’s super popular with young people. My husband chose an orange wine. Cheers! Our snack was a shaking series. Is this a trend in Kyoto? We tend to love dimly lit spaces like this! It turned out to be such a lovely evening. Today we’re doing some fan activities after breakfast,
so our outfits are chosen accordingly. A famous spot for duck porridge and warabi mochi. A purely Japanese-style building with elegant architecture
over a hundred years old. Before entering the room, they explain the history of the building to you. A luxurious moment at the registered cultural property,
the former residence of Keinen Imao! Keinen Imao was a Nihonga painter of the Shijō school. His most famous work is the Cloud Dragon painting at Nanzenji Temple. It seems that if you make a reservation,
you can get a seat close to the courtyard. We had reserved the duck porridge in advance. The porridge was cooked with duck broth. We also ordered some roasted green tea. The duck was Kishu duck,
carefully prepared and slow-cooked at a low temperature. Delicious! The pickles went perfectly with the porridge. It was so tasty, I almost finished it in no time. After the meal, we stepped out into the garden. Having breakfast in such a beautiful place was a truly blissful moment. A traditional Japanese space really brings peace to the heart. Then we arrived at the station, and I said goodbye to my husband here. From this point, we went our separate ways.
