【富山観光】父が72歳で始めたヤギ牧場 8年たった結果は?…氷見の牧場をドキュメント72時間風に取材 A goat farm story in Himi,Toyama.
“Nonfiction 72 Minutes.” This video is an homage to “Document 72 Hours.” A farm nestled in the mountains of Himi, Toyama Prefecture. A rare goat-specialized farm in Japan. There’s also a cafe renovated from an old folk house. People who visit seeking healing, and the staff supporting this free-to-visit farm— I followed them closely for 72 minutes. Himi, Toyama Prefecture, located at the base of the Noto Peninsula. Himi is known as a town of fish, but… Deep in the mountains, far from the sea, there’s a unique farm.
Exit at Himi-Kita IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. Yoshigake, Himi, where the goat farm is located, is 10 km from Himi-Kita IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway. As houses disappear, a slight unease feeling Following the GPS, I found a sign. A sign for the cafe attached to the goat farm. This coverage began at noon on a Sunday in early July 2025. A cafe renovated from an old folk house. “The Sound of Grass in the Mountains – Kusa no Oto”
882 Yoshigake, Himi City, Toyama – Genji’s House Meeeh— It is very friendly. It reminds me of the house from “Wolf Children Ame and Yuki” in Kamiichi Town, Toyama, which I visited recently. “Genji” is the name of the farm owner. This is the house where “Genji” grew up. This is a tool used to mark rice paddies during planting. The cafe opened this year. The menu includes spaghetti, udon, and soba. There are also sweets like pancakes. You can even drink goat milk.
(The milk is sourced externally.) “Regular Napolitan” (¥1,000). Comes with black soybean tea. “Farm Pasta” (¥1,300). Good. “I’ve wanted to open a healing cafe for over a decade.” “I heard from ‘Genji’ that many customers wanted to try goat milk.” “There were also requests for Yoshigake Farm merchandise.” “Genji’s vision and mine aligned at the right time.” “The cafe opened on April 15 this year.” 80 minutes into the coverage. This was supposed to be a “Nonfiction 72 Minutes” project, but I am continuing the coverage anyway. 😅 For ¥100, you can buy carrots and feed the goats. They make such good sounds. Let’s head to the farm area, which is a short distance away. It’s bigger than I imagined. Genji’s Yoshigake Farm
26 Ueda Yoshigake, Himi City, Toyama Rules include:
・No pets allowed
・No feeding Admission is free, but visitors must ask staff to open the gate. Each pen houses goats. There are about 40 goats in total. The goats aren’t coming out of their pens. It’s drizzling, and goats dislike rain, so they’re staying inside. Once the rain stopped, they suddenly emerged. Is this a baby goat? It’s eating so much! Baby goats are so cute. There’s a goat with a heart-shaped spot on its forehead. I saw it for a second… Show me your forehead! I saw it again, just for a moment. It really is a ❤️ heart shape! I met a boy I’ll try petting one too. There was a goat doing something strange. Is it itchy? It’s like Kanpei Hazama’s “Kai-no” gesture. Over here, a baby goat was rubbing itself against the ground. I looked it up—apparently, it’s called “grooming behavior.” This goat seems curious about the leaves above. It suddenly stood up! But couldn’t reach them. Goats also climb onto platforms in the farm’s “play area.” I never get tired of watching goats. Owner “Genji” started raising goats as a hobby in 2017. “Genji” was absent today, cutting grass to feed the goats. I spoke with his son instead. “More and more people are becoming goat lovers.” “People say goats are healing, so…” “Visitors come from all over Japan.” “Even locals from Toyama are increasing.” “Is this place in the mountains?”
“Yes, in the mountains.” “I was surprised by how large this farm is.” “Admission is free—how do you sustain operations?” “We run YouTube channels for revenue, and…” “We also sell baby goats to support the farm.” “Donations are welcome too.” A young visitor was playing with the goats. “I came from Ishikawa Prefecture.” “So warm…” The man usually works at a factory, Today, he’s here on a date. A strange object at the farm. A gadget to catch horseflies. Horseflies gather on top. The farm also has volunteer staff. “I love goats and found this wonderful place.” “It’s hard to put into words, but…” “It’s just… love.” 150 minutes into the coverage. Let’s visit another grazing area. Goats leisurely grazing while moving. Many visitors came to see the goats. 3:00 PM – A goat descended the hill. The goat working at the cafe returned.
