【福岡Vlog】インテリア雑貨と器とカフェと食と。|薬院・平尾・天神
Hello. The days have been so hot lately. Today, I’d like to explore some interior and lifestyle shops around Fukuoka. The Yakuin area, close to Tenjin, is home to unique shops and cozy cafes. Our first stop is B.B.B. POTTERS, opened back in 1991. The shop is filled with tools and goods that add joy to everyday life. Their original products also immediately catch your eye. There’s also a relaxing café on the second floor. They have a beautiful selection of pottery, including Koishiwara ware. At the time of my visit, they were holding an antique bead and accessory exhibition. The brand “chahat,” which my friend bought from their Itoshima store, was also featured. Their beads are sourced from different countries during their travels. You can feel a gentle warmth that only time can bring. What caught my eye even more were their unique rings. I was drawn to the natural, unpolished brass. While the kind staff was looking into some details for me, Ms. Shikiya herself happened to be there, and we got to chat. She was so charming, and the stories behind her products were fascinating. I felt that her warm personality truly reflects in the pieces she creates. The ring I chose felt even more special because of that encounter. They also have beautifully packaged original bamboo products featured in overseas magazines. Just nearby is their sister store, BBB&. It’s a specialty shop with tools for dining, for both restaurants and home use. I noticed I was almost out of “Mataichi Salt,” so I grabbed some here. In Itoshima, you can also tour the salt factory where it’s made. Just a one-minute walk from Yakuin Odori Station is “Fukuoka Seikatsu Doguten.” They curate and create quality items from Fukuoka and Kyushu, including various lifestyle goods. They carefully curate tableware, stationery, and unique items you won’t find elsewhere. After walking in the heat, my eyes were drawn to something cool and refreshing. A craft from Saga City with over 300 years of history— Nao handmade washi paper. I heard that Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko once visited their workshop in Saga. I also found items from amabro here. And for the first time, I saw “GLAD,” a brand of Ureshino Hizen Yoshida ware. Next, they showed me a fabric created by inheriting the techniques of Kurume Ori and Kurume Kasuri. It’s softer than it looks, a fabric called “KARAKURI.” The “KiriHaco” series is a joint development by Masuda Kiribako-ten in Koga, Fukuoka,
and the owner of Fukuoka Seikatsu Doguten. They offer a lineup using paulownia, walnut, and black cherry. The rice storage box utilizes the moisture control and insect-repelling properties of paulownia to keep rice delicious. Its clever design allows you to attach a one-cup measuring box to the underside of the lid. The color gradually changes over time, which is one of the charms of paulownia. It seems to suit both Japanese and Western interiors. I love that it comes in a variety of sizes.

It opens smoothly, making it pleasant to use. I’m already using it to store my incense. A five-minute walk from Yakuin Station is “eel,” an antiques and repair shop. They maintain and sell vintage furniture and lighting sourced from the UK, France, Denmark, and other parts of Europe. Each piece carries a sense of presence that comes with age. There’s an even more atmospheric space upstairs on the second floor.

On this day, I headed to a place about eight minutes on foot from both Yakuin and Hirao Stations. A café, bookstore, and lifestyle goods shop called “Kurasukoto.” On the second floor, in a cozy space of about 30 square meters, they have around 3,000 books. They curate books on the mind and body, nature, the invisible world, lifestyle, parenting, family, and picture books. Right next to it is a naturally styled café space. You can enjoy meals and snacks that are gentle on the body. I had their bean curry with a tomato base. The gentle flavor and the tender texture of chickpeas were delightful. The croquette on the side also had a gentle sweetness. The pickles paired perfectly with the curry. For dessert, I had their firm, nostalgic-style pudding. It uses fresh eggs from Itoshima and low-temperature pasteurized milk from Karatsu, Saga, sweetened with beet sugar for a gentle taste.

It’s a flavor that lets you take a comforting breath. The smooth texture melts gently in your mouth. Thank you for the delicious meal. On the third floor, there’s a lifestyle goods area with a wide range of products. They offer well-curated goods from both inside and outside Kyushu. There are works by artists and original products that are very practical. The Yamachiku chopsticks I bought at their former Itoshima store are still available here. Simple items in a natural space. Clothing that looks comfortable to wear. It’s a gentle and calming space. Next, I moved over to nearby Tenjin. The scenery in Tenjin is constantly changing. In April 2025, ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. opened here. A well-loved art and lifestyle select shop moved here for its first Kyushu location. SPIRAL GARDEN is a complex with a gallery, shop, and café. It’s a space where you can casually encounter art while strolling through the garden and discovering flowers. With the theme of “fusion of life and art,” they propose a lifestyle that incorporates art. They also hold exhibitions exclusive to Fukuoka, like this one. Here is an artistic obi woven by Nishimura Textile. The delicate colors are created using the finest silk. I look forward to many more exhibitions in the future. Many of the gift packages I received were from SPIRAL. I also remembered that a glass gift from Sghr I received 10 years ago was from SPIRAL. I think it’s a shop where it’s easy to choose gifts not only for women but also for men. A cute staff member explained that the inside color is a Fukuoka limited edition. Next, I went down to Tenjin Noren-gai in the basement of ONE FUKUOKA BLDG. I entered “Ooyama,” a casual and welcoming Hakata motsunabe specialty restaurant. It’s a calm and modern Japanese-style space. There are clean counters that are perfect for large groups as well as solo diners. I chose the miso flavor, which is known for its rich and delicious taste. I enjoyed the tender and plump motsu in their secret soup. It’s full of collagen, vitamins, minerals, and vegetable fiber. This is how I get through this hot summer! Not only did the motsunabe power me up, but the fresh and courteous staff gave me energy, too. Thank you for the meal. “Tenjin Big Bang” means Tenjin will continue to gradually change. New and diverse personalities will continue to emerge. Thank you for joining me until the very end.
