京都の祇園の街角に、春のやわらかな陽射しが降り注いでいた。石畳の道を歩く観光客の間を、優雅に歩く一人の舞妓。その白いおしろいに映える紅色の唇、繊細に結い上げられた髪、そして艶やかな着物の裾が風に揺れるたび、彼女の美しさが際立って見えた。

近くの茶屋の軒先で、その姿をじっと見つめる一人の外国人の男の子がいた。彼はまだ幼く、言葉もたどたどしいが、その瞳には純粋な憧れが宿っていた。彼の家族は旅行で日本を訪れており、今日は祇園を散策していたのだった。舞妓の美しさに目を奪われた彼は、思わず母親の袖を引っ張り、興奮気味に言った。

彼にとって、その優雅な立ち姿と上品な微笑みはまさにおとぎ話に出てくるお姫様そのものだったのだ。
