Hello, this is siosai. I have been living in Fukuoka City for several years now. I have gradually become more familiar with the shops in Fukuoka City. Today, as a Fukuoka citizen, I will introduce the cafes in Fukuoka that locals go to. This time, I will pick up the Tenjin area in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. (Imaizumi, Kego, Daimyo, Maiduru, Watanabe-dori, and Haruyoshi are also included.) All of these cafes are close to the station. You don’t need a car. Please use this as a reference for sightseeing in Fukuoka. “Manu Coffee Daimyo” 5 minutes walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station First, there is a famous shop in Fukuoka City, “Manu Coffee”. It opened in 2003, shortly after Starbucks opened in Japan. It is a famous espresso shop in Fukuoka City. The first shop was in Haruyoshi, and the roaster is in Yakuin, and all of the shops are characterized by their yellow walls. They often hold events together with the surrounding area, and are rooted in the city as a cafe that leads Fukuoka’s coffee culture. “MARGARETT HOWELL SHOP & CAFE tenjin” Located in the “TOKI RIKYU” premises, MARGARETT HOWELL CAFE is a 5-minute walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, just across the street from “manu coffee”. This is the first time that “MARGARETT HOWELL” cafes have opened outside of Tokyo, in Osaka and Fukuoka. That’s why it’s been so popular since it opened in March. The ginger ale and lemonade are delicious. (I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard the food is good too.) The shop also sells vintage furniture. “Le BRETON” Located a 6-minute walk from Yakuin Station and a short walk from “MARGARETT HOWELL CAFE”, Le BRETON serves authentic French crepes and galettes. It’s a convenient place to eat and drink coffee. The galettes are, of course, delicious. But the millefeuille is also excellent. I think I like Le BRETON’s millefeuille the most in Fukuoka. I also like Clair au Cafe. “companion plants” 8 minutes walk from Yakuin-Odori Station “companion plants” is located on the first floor of an apartment building. It is a bakery and cafe that originated in Hiroshima Prefecture. I have been to the store in Hiroshima, and it had a similar atmosphere. It is open from early in the morning. There are various types of customers, such as people who come to buy bread and people who come to eat breakfast. The donuts are also delicious, so I end up ordering more. This store is recommended for those who choose a plan without breakfast at the hotel where I am staying. “PPP cafe” 3 minutes walk from Akasaka Station “PPP cafe” is an abbreviation of “Parkside People Party”. It is a store near Ohori park. It is a cafe with a red color as in American movies. The chocolate chip cookies are moist and soft chocolate chunk cookies. It goes well with cafe americano. It is pet-friendly, so it is a great cafe for people who like dogs. “NEDEN CAFE” 5 minutes walk from Tenjin Station In the North Tenjin area, there are “MINA Tenjin” and “Aeon Shoppers Fukuoka”, which are directly connected to the underground mall. The North Tenjin area is convenient for shopping, but the cafes are crowded. (ONCA COFFE is also crowded.) However, there is actually a hidden cafe on the 8th floor of “MINA Tenjin”. That is “NEDEN CAFE”. It is not even listed on the “MINA Tenjin” website. It is a secret cafe. The official Instagram also describes it as “the hardest cafe to find in Fukuoka”. The shop has an inorganic atmosphere and is stylish like a Korean cafe. The chocolate cake is delicious. It is a secret cafe that I don’t really want to tell you about. “maison cake” Directly connected to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station A cafe inside “SOLARIA STAGE” in Tenjin. It is a cake shop produced by “THE SANDWICH STAND” in Yakuin-Odori. You can also eat inside the store. Since it is a dessert made by a sandwich shop, it is naturally delicious. (“THE SANDWICH STAND” is also delicious.) It is not too sweet because it uses beet sugar and cane sugar. It has a mild taste. Many customers take it out. If you eat in, the counter seats are also recommended. “REC COFFEE” Directly connected to Tenjin Station The other day, I introduced “ONE FUKUOKA BLDG.” in another video. At “ONE FUKUOKA BLDG.”, a specialty coffee shop “REC COFFEE” opened on the 6th floor. Since it is a floor with many business people, there is an original menu called “Quick Brew Coffee”. It serves authentic espresso that is also supported by coffee lovers. And yet, it is a clean shop where you can relax. “REC COFFEE” also has stores in Tokyo (Suidobashi and Shibuya). However, please try it in Fukuoka, the birthplace of the coffee. “TAG STÅ” 4 minutes walk from Watanabe-dori Station “TAG STÅ” is also a famous espresso shop. This is a tasteful coffee stand located in a quiet area behind “Sun Selco”. The theme colors of “manu coffee” are yellow, “REC COFFEE” are blue, and “TAG STÅ” are black. There are several sister stores. (It’s no longer there, but the curry at “townz” was delicious.) There is a gallery at the back of the store. You might find some art you like. “BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE Fukuoka” 1 minute walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station “BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE” opened in Kego Shrine in February 2024. It is the first in Fukuoka and the first in Kyushu. You can now drink coffee at “BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE” without having to go to Tokyo or Osaka. Previously, they also held a collaboration with Marimekko. Kego Shrine is located in the center of Tenjin, so it is convenient for a tea break. There are also elements exclusive to Fukuoka, such as cups that are only used in this store and bread from “pain stock” in Hakozaki. Please visit it on your trip.
