Hello! Today, I’ll be walking around Hiroshima Station. Hiroshima City is located on the western side of Honshu, the largest island in Japan, and is the largest city in the Chugoku-Shikoku region (the name of the western part of Honshu). During the Sengoku period, Hiroshima developed as a castle town under the leadership of Fukushima Masanori, a vassal of the Mori clan, and the Asano clan. Known worldwide as a city damaged by the atomic bomb during World War II, Hiroshima has now rebuilt itself as a “city of peace. ” Hiroshima City is the prefectural capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, home to the headquarters of the world-renowned automobile manufacturer Mazda. A streetcar service to Hiroshima Station will begin on August 3, 2025, making travel even more convenient. Hiroshima Station is the largest terminal in the Chugoku-Shikoku region, serving over 150,000 people daily. The station is home to Ekie and the newly renovated Minamoa shopping complex, offering shopping and gourmet dining. Hiroshima is also famous for its food culture, with Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and oysters being particularly popular. Hiroshima is home to world-renowned tourist attractions such as Hiroshima Castle, the Atomic Bomb Dome, and Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima. The area around Hiroshima Station is undergoing redevelopment, with skyscrapers and new commercial facilities lining the streets, creating a modern urban landscape. Accessible by Shinkansen from Osaka in about an hour and a half and from Tokyo in about four hours, Hiroshima serves as the gateway to the Chugoku-Shikoku region (western Honshu). Large shopping areas are located within and around the station, making it convenient for both tourists and locals. Let’s take a stroll around Hiroshima Station and its surrounding area, soaking up the sounds and atmosphere of one of Japan’s leading cities. Today, there’s a game between the Hiroshima Carp, a Japanese professional baseball team based in Hiroshima, and the Chunichi Dragons, based in Nagoya. As a result, many fans can be seen wearing the uniforms of their favorite baseball teams.

路面電車が乗り入れているエリア、写真を撮られている方が、数名いらっしゃいますね。
自分も、地元の人間だったら、絶対撮ります！(笑)
後、カープのユニフォームと電光掲示板で気がついたのですが、
マツダスタジアムの最寄り駅なんですね。
といっても10分程歩くみたいなので、
感覚的には、PayPayドームから唐人町駅に歩くのと同じぐらいですね。
また、調べてみたところ、バスで行く方が歩かなくて済むようですが、
試合がある日は、PayPayドームに行く時と同じで、広島駅から歩いた方が逆に早いんだろうなぁ。
There’s no doubt that the new design allowing streetcars to enter Hiroshima Station will bring enormous convenience to passengers. The joy and excitement of the people were clearly visible in the video!
It was also noticeable that many Western tourists were present in the pleasant, spacious, and bright station. Construction work could be seen in the underground areas and surrounding spaces as well. With continuous improvements and ongoing evolution, the potential for tourism growth in Hiroshima is truly great.

広島は5月ごろにウサギ島観光目的で行きました 新幹線で降りて安芸路ライナーに乗る時刻を遅らせて 広島駅内外などの工事中を注意深く見ていました
新しい駅ビル完成に日本初の2階路面電車のホームも今は通常営業ですか・・ 鉄道、駅ビルファンとしてはまた完成した広島駅を秋には見に行きたい。
