A group of red-brick buildings built by the former Imperial Japanese Navy. A nostalgic harbor landscape. You can also experience the following: A cruise around naval-related spots while feeling the pleasant sea breeze of summer. Seeing escort ships up close is a spectacular sight! On some days, you can even tour the ships at Kitasui Mooring. Spend a nostalgic summer with Red Brick Park as your base. From the parking lot, follow the river and walk about 1km through the forest… A white stone gate suddenly appears. It’s like a gateway to another world. A group of stone Buddha statues exudes an otherworldly atmosphere. Going further in, a 20-meter waterfall appears. The footing becomes more unstable as you approach the waterfall. Be prepared to get wet if you want to see it up close. The waterfall cascades in three tiers from a 25-meter-high monolith. It’s more impressive than you’d imagine. The huge moss-covered rocks create a secluded atmosphere. It’s about 20 minutes from the parking lot. A very refreshing breeze blows here. This waterfall is recommended for a slightly more active end-of-summer experience. This stalactite cavern’s wind hole is located in a karst region. The entrance is very narrow, but inside, a vast space spreads out. It’s one of the largest limestone caves in the Kansai region, boasting the fourth longest limestone cave in Japan. The inside of the cave maintains a cool 12-13°C throughout the year. Experience the wonders of nature. Enjoy the stroll to the wind hole. A promenade along the cool mountain stream. Groundwater flows into the Echiga Valley. This water is so pure. The spring water is so refreshing you’ll want to drink it. Experience one of the coolest experiences in the Kansai region. Samegai-juku, the 61st post town on the Nakasendo Highway. Enjoy the cool scenery, which is also connected to Kawachi’s wind hole. Izame no Shimizu, the underground water from Kawachi’s wind hole. The Jizo River was formed by spring water from Izame-no-Shimizu. The water plant, Baikamo, blooms with white flowers resembling plum blossoms. From late July to late August, you can enjoy a unique and atmospheric landscape. The charming townscape feels like a time travel. Just looking at it will cool you down. The “wholesale market,” which once managed the post town, remains as it was back then. It’s rare, even nationwide. Time flows slowly and quietly. There are also quaint shops, making for a pleasant stroll. The Ibukiyama Driveway is a scenic 17km drive that ends at the mountaintop parking lot at an elevation of 1,260m. The view from the parking lot is also spectacular. Mount Ibuki offers a truly moving experience. If you’re lucky, you might even see a sea of ​​clouds. It takes 20 to 40 minutes to reach the peak from the parking lot. The view around sunset is particularly dramatic. Even in summer, the peak temperature reaches around 25°C, providing a natural cooling effect. Summer events also offer overnight stays on the mountain. *For more details, please see the description.
