日本一美しい廃線跡 倉吉線を巡ってきた&鳥取砂丘🇯🇵

Wow, it’s really summer. It has a unique stillness to it. Amazing! This is the bamboo forest at Japan’s most
    beautiful abandoned railway site. Amazing,
indeed. Hello, everyone, this is Ayako Suzukawa. Today, I’m
in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture. I’m in front of JR Kurayoshi Station. Behind me
now, is the station platform, but today, I’m not taking
a train from Kurayoshi. Well, I’m not exactly taking the train, Actually, from here, exactly where I am now, beyond here, on the other side, where the bus
terminal is now, towards that side, there used to be a railway line
called the Kurayoshi Line. But it’s already an abandoned railway line now. Well, the former Kurayoshi Line site, the
abandoned railway site, is also called Japan’s most beautiful
abandoned railway site. It’s become a bit of a tourist spot, this
abandoned railway site, so, I’d like to go there today. It’s here, right? Is it here? Especially around here, well,
regarding this area, is there anything left? I wouldn’t say there’s anything left, And now, there’s a sign here. This, this. This is the Former Japan National Railways
Kurayoshi Line Abandoned Railway Site. Here,
this bamboo grove area is really It’s a tourist spot, or rather, it’s an abandoned
railway site, so you can walk around. Like this, there are some rails left, and this is
the most beautiful abandoned railway site, so they say. But I’m a little worried about the time now. It’s already getting late in the evening, If it gets too dark, the bamboo grove will be hard
to see. Shall we hurry a bit? I wonder if it’s okay to call them white-walled
storehouses? Many tourist attractions have buildings like
these. There are many. This is a tourist information
center. It seems there are also historical streets
where you can feel the history. Next up, we have this. If I had to say, this is also the abandoned railway
site. Kurayoshi Station is a little further that way. Across this river. I guess it felt like it crossed over. This is called “Yatsuya Kurayoshi Line
Memorial Park.” The name Kurayoshi Line. And it’s even called Memorial Park. I was wondering if there might be something left. I came here hoping to experience that kind of
atmosphere. From Kurayoshi Station to Yamamori Station. It’s about 20 kilometers. The line is 20 kilometers long. 9 stations in total. 9 stations in total, including the starting and
terminal stations. In 1985. It was abolished on April 1st. So, it’s been about 40 years since then. This is clearly. That over there looks like an embankment. Definitely feels like a railway. I knew it was an abandoned railway site. This is definitely. A bridge pier. Heave-ho. Wow. So, the railway was really here. Huh? Suddenly here. Suddenly here. Suddenly it’s here. I’m happy. Originally. Um. Kurayoshi Line. As a light railway, It was built as a light railway line. That’s right. But still, this feeling… See, I knew it. Just having this makes… You can feel like, ‘Oh, this used to be a railway
track.’ You can feel it. Oh, amazing, like a waterway. Oh, that’s right. This… It’s a bridge pier. Wow. Hey, look at this. Station name sign. Oh, amazing. This… Isn’t this originally from the old days? Isn’t it the station name from that time? It’s called Yatsuya Kurayoshi Line Memorial
Park. Agei Uwanada At first, It was Kurayoshi Station. Where the current Kurayoshi Station is. And then it was renamed Agei Station midway. The name changed. So this Agei is… Kurayoshi Station, the current one. And Uwanada Station is… There was an Uwanada Station when the line was
abandoned. So it’s right in between. So it’s like between Kurayoshi and Uwanada. I see. It was abandoned on April 1st. At the end of March. It closed its 74-year history and became an
abandoned railway line. Then, the park was developed, like this. In 2015, That’s recent. Yeah. Like this, It was developed as a park. Really, this place is… It’s like a promenade. This height is amazing. Yeah, from here on, it goes on and on. Towards the current Kurayoshi Station. Like this. Indeed, this is exactly the height of that river. Yeah, it’s a height where it seems like you’re
going to the river. Hahaha. I see. Hmm. It’s like this. Oh. I’m happy we can walk here like this. It’s nicely preserved, you know? The original… Of course, I don’t know what it was like back then, But I can feel a little bit of it. It’s preserved in a way that you can feel it. So, right now, we’re here at the free parking lot
for tourists. We’re here now. Isn’t it this? Isn’t the Green Sculpture Promenade the
abandoned railway site? This one. I wanted to go to the Kurayoshi Line Railway
Memorial Hall, But it’s probably closed for the day. Wow! Completely outdoors. Showa 10 (1935) Manufactured. Throughout the pre-war, wartime, and postwar
periods, As the main player on local lines. Supporting Japan’s railway transport, and continuing to support it. I heard it also ran on the Fukuchiyama and Sakai
Lines. The Earth, How many times around… well, Roughly how many times around did it go? It’s one of those things where they tell you how
many kilometers it ran, right? Common SL (steam locomotive) exhibit. Yeah. Last year! It’s 2024! Yeah. Was it something like crowdfunding? Yeah, they did it. Thanks to everyone, it’s in such a beautiful
condition. So, with gratitude, let’s go inside. I’ll go in. Amazing. Wow, it’s so beautiful, really. It’s sparkling, especially the silver parts. Wow! It says it’s okay to sit in the driver’s seat. I’m so happy that it used to run around here in
Tottori Prefecture, like on the current Sakai
Line. It makes me happy, doesn’t it? It’s so well
preserved. I wonder if this is the abandoned railway site?
Here, here. I wonder if that’s the memorial hall. We’re
cutting it close. Oh, right, it’s here. Until 5 PM. It seems to be open. Amazing, like this. Well, if you ever come, please do. Even if you don’t have much time, please come. I
think there’s a lot to see. I think there are a lot of historical exhibits
and such. Now, next up is here. This is where
    Nishi-Kurayoshi (West Kurayoshi) Station
used to be. Now, this area has also been developed a bit and
looks like a park. It has become. Isn’t this clearly a platform?
This. I think the platform is still the same height as
it was. Wow, look at this side. There are rails. Wow, amazing! That’s amazing. Doesn’t it feel like the sleepers are still
original? Oh, but maybe these are new. But the track gauge is definitely this one. Probably, yeah, I think the one from before was a
little narrower. This is the actual width of the narrow gauge. Ogamo. It says Ogamo Station is this way. So, does that mean we can go to the station if we
keep going this way? Road Station, right now, this place is also called
Road Station. Next to the Road Station is ‘Ogamo’. There’s something like a pillar standing there. Hmm. Oh. By the way, this is Nishi-Kurayoshi Station. It opened in 1941. It opened in ’41 and closed in ’85. So, Originally, they also handled freight. Freight, and luggage. There was a station building on the east side of
the grounds, and a freight platform for covered wagons on the
south side of that. I don’t know how big this freight platform was. Anyway, Nishi-Kurayoshi Station had an island
platform. An island platform with one side and two lines, and there was a station building on the east side
of the station building, and a freight platform
for covered wagons. Yeah, I definitely feel a bit of a freight vibe. Right, this feeling. Well, I wonder about this
place. Anyway, next. So, we’ve arrived at the Former Japanese
    National Railways Kurayoshi Line Abandoned
Railway Site Parking Lot. There was a tourist information center. It’s a little late, and it’s closed, but I was hoping for some
abandoned railway goods. A rental bicycle, that’s nice. This is Yamamori Station’s… Apparently, this is the actual station name sign. It was supposed to connect to
Chugoku-Katsuyama Station on the Kishin Line,
but it was abandoned as a terminal station in
March 1985. I see, so they brought it here. This semaphore signal was originally at
Sekigane Station. It was over 4 meters tall. Taikyuji Temple. From right behind here, you can go to… On the left, this is it. Former Japan National Railways Kurayoshi Line
Abandoned Railway Site Taikyuji Station Site, the bamboo forest area is
about 1 kilometer away. Oh, wow! And then… We’re going to walk there now. Isn’t that great? We can walk here. We came from that way, and there was something
like… There was a sign that said, “It starts here.” So, we can go that way on the way back, right? It’s kind of like a movie set, isn’t it? Like an adventure. It feels like we’re going on one, right? This is amazing. It’s about 1 kilometer, about a 15-minute walk. To Taikyuji Temple… And beyond that is the famous bamboo forest. So there is. It’s a very peaceful and nice place. If you apply for the tourist tour, You can go inside the tunnel. It’s a tour where you can see the inside. Apparently, there are tours available. Well, if you’re not doing the tour, like this, this area that’s open to the public, around here, is a place you can freely walk around. Yes, yes. The rail is still here, with the dog spikes that hold it in place. Properly secured with these spikes. I wonder if this around here is ballast. According to the explanation, as expected, the original rails and ballast are still left in some places. It says that there are several places like that
throughout the abandoned railway site. Isn’t
that amazing? It goes on and on. Even from here. That’s right. Originally, it must have been that
high. It’s like visiting my grandma’s house. I’m from Chiba, though. Nice. It’s really nice. It’s beautiful. The rice plants. Amazing. I saw it a little while ago, but there’s a rainbow. That makes me happy. I wonder if the roots of that forest of trees are
deep inside. Oh, here we go again. Oh, we’re almost there. It’s 500 meters to Taikyuji Station. It’s so detailed. There was one a little while ago, too. I’m glad they wrote it out for us. It doesn’t feel endless. To some extent, I know it’s just a little further. There are quite a few houses around here. Quietly, okay? Let’s go. Only here again, I can feel the rails. They’re back. Hey, isn’t this amazing? This distance. And local people live along this distance. So summer! Japanese summer! Let’s take a break. There’s a bench here. But just a little more, just a little more. Is it ahead? Is that Yasuhisa Temple over there? Let’s stop here for a moment. The rails… And, on that side… Originally, this was connected. That… The bridge abutment is over there. Because the area where the passengers waited is
still there. This is the site of Taikyuji Station. Well, it’s written here too, but this area is
private property, so we were told… We were told to park our car at the tourist
information center we saw earlier. I see, I see. And from here, we enter the bamboo forest area. It’s further down this way. 250 meters. There are vending machines and stuff, at least. Is this the portable toilet? Oh, here it is. Ah, it’s the platform. Wow. This is a photo spot. There’s a camera stand. Wow. Amazing! So this is it! Ah, what? The station name is… Ah, is it faintly visible? And now… That way, This way, Yamamori Station, The next station, Yamamori, The next station, Yamamori Station, is the
terminal. The very last one. I see. And the next station is Sekigane. This is, said to be Japan’s most beautiful abandoned
railway site. It’s the Former Kurayoshi Line. The Former JNR
Kurayoshi Line. Amazing. I’m a little excited even though I know
it’s an abandoned railway site. I’m getting excited. Yeah, it’s properly preserved. But it’s not
bamboo yet here. It’s… Maybe it’s a little further ahead. I really wish
we could have come at a brighter time. It would have been better, but it’s already quite
late in the evening. That’s true. It’s gotten quite late in the evening, Here we go. I hear a car. Is there a road below? Wow! It might be easier to see from this side. Yeah. Around here, Really watch your step. Yeah. Don’t look away. We have to go. Wow! It’s like, It’s a little, My eyes are going crazy because it suddenly got
dark. Whoa. It feels like summer. It’s written. Something. Is this it? This is it. The bamboo forest area. Whoa! I’m sure it’s different even if you come here
during the day. It’s a little dark like this, And the sound is unique. It’s quiet. It’s a little different from before, well, I can
still hear the insects, of course, It has a certain unique stillness. Amazing. Amazing. This is the famous… This is Japan’s most beautiful abandoned
railway bamboo forest. Amazing, it really is
amazing. It’s a little mysterious; you don’t often get
this feeling, do you? Well, of course, coming during the day, the
contrast… …or the contrast with the outside is easier to see,
I think. Amazing. There’s a tunnel ahead called Yamamori
Tunnel. To enter it, please sign up for the trekking tour. I see. It has the overall history of the Kurayoshi
Line era written on it. So, this time, we’re at the former JNR Kurayoshi
Line site in Tottori Prefecture. I visited various abandoned railway sites. I’ve only seen pictures of what it looked like
back then, I had only seen it in photos and read about it. But when I actually came here, I was like, oh yeah,
this is the place. I could already tell from the atmosphere of the
modern road, Also, it’s well maintained, Now it’s a park or a promenade, But the fact that the rails have been restored or
left as they are… There are many of them, and it’s great. I enjoyed exploring it. And above all, the place we just went to… Is the bamboo forest. There’s a sign there, and… There’s a picture on it, and it’s really lovely. It’s truly a magnificent view. You can enjoy a slightly mysterious atmosphere… A unique scenery. Because it’s an abandoned railway site, I definitely want railway enthusiasts to come
here, and abandoned railway site enthusiasts as well. So, we’ve been exploring the former JNR
Kurayoshi Line site in Tottori Prefecture. We’ve visited various places. Thank you. It was fun. This is the Tottori Sand Dunes. Wow. Everyone’s here. That green… I might have seen it on the news. Like grass has started growing. It’s fine. But you can still see the graininess. It feels like a really beautiful sandy beach. Hot! The sand! It’s so hot! Yeah, it’s definitely dangerous to wear sandals. It’s so hot! Is that the sea? What’s beyond that? Is that the sea over there? Eh, So, does that mean there’s a lot of sand from the
beach? Yeah. Ehh. Amazing. Where does this go? Where do we go? Shouldn’t we go to the bottom of the dune? The bottom of the dune, or should we stop here? A cliff. A wall. Wow. It’s a wall. Can we climb this? Well, yeah, it’s not a problem. You can totally walk it. Well, somewhat, the footing is… The sand… It feels like it, but I thought… no, it’s tough. You
have to climb diagonally, huh? It’s like a snowy mountain. You should climb diagonally. Heave-ho, heave-ho. Aren’t you going to climb a bit more? Should I climb faster? Ah, no, I’m already tired. Just a little more. It’s getting shorter, right? The distance. Just a little more. Huff. Don’t make me laugh, don’t make me laugh. Just a little more. The wind is strong. Heave-ho. Heave-ho. Oh, it’s a bit hard here. It feels like there’s more moisture. Just a little more. Let’s go, like this. Take a picture. Wow. Here we are. Amazing. Ah. Phew. Phew. Phew. Amazing. Haa. Phew. Phew. Around here, I think it’s probably because of the sea breeze, it’s starting to harden a bit, so it was easier to climb, It was tough in the middle. Oh, wait, people are going that way. They’re coming up this way too. I just walked sideways, and there are still about
two more small hills over there. There are small hills. Wow. The ocean is beautiful. Right? It’s like it’s not even Japan. It’s so lovely. Yeah, you should definitely come here. It’s a bit tough to climb though.
