Japan travel tip number four don’t book your hotel in Shinjuku Shinjuku is one of my favorite areas in Tokyo with amazing restaurants nightlife and famous landmarks but unfortunately it’s located on the far west side of Tokyo which can make it an hour train ride away from other top attractions instead I would recommend staying at a central location like akasaka which is only 10 to 20 minutes away from asakasa Tokyo Station Ginza and suichi Market while still only about 15 minutes from shib and Shinjuku it’s the perfect location if you want to maximize your trip and generally the hotels are cheaper too follow a Toki from more Japan travel tips

  1. yeh, Akasaka -no thanks. Shinjuku is my favorite location..one to two stops away from Harajuku, and Shibuya next stop on Yamanote line after Harjuku. Shinjuku is king and so is the mighty Yamanote line! Shinjuku is an excellent base of operations to explore tokyo.

  2. I recommend staying in Ginza if you’re staying in Tokyo. It’s not overly touristy, quieter than other parts of Tokyo with more robust night life, and it’s about 15-30 minutes from all of the popular parts of the city (Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Akasaka, Shibuya, etc). Only reason i would recommend against it is if your budget is a little tight.

  3. I personally disagree, but i think it’s up to personal preference. My bf and I stayed in shinjuku and it was such a fun home-base to come back to each night from our activities of the day. There are so many fantastic restaurants and bars to chill at when you get back!!

  4. The hotels aren't cheaper than in Shinjuku. And if it's only 15 minutes from Shinjuku, then you are implying that Shinjuku isn't really all that far west, correct?

  5. Its ridiculous to say its "an hour train ride" from Shinjuku to Akasaka but Akasaka is a 15 min train ride from Shinjuku. Make that make sense.

  6. You saying your recommanded Location is 15min of shinjuku haha bad tip. I stayed at shinjuku on my Japan Trip at i could Travel all Center Tokio Spots in around 15-25min from Shinjuku Station.

  7. Except suppose you want to go bar hopping anf clubbing past the time the subways closes. No one wants to pay an overpriced cab ride back to Akasaka.

  8. First you say it’s an hour away, but then you say it’s only 15 from the other place you recommended. So which one is it… 😂

  9. The wife and I recently did a vacation to Japan and stayed in Ōtsuka, and it was perfect. Quiet enough to get away when we were done for the day, but close enough to everything to make the days more than worth the trip.

  10. Unless, if you want to get wasted in Shinjuku at night. I rather travel during the the day and then roll to the hotel from the club/izakaya.

  11. dumbest advice the bus from airport goes to Shinjuku u want to lug your suitcase in train or take expensive taxi ride. asakusa is dead at night

  12. I disagree. We stayed in Shinjuku earlier this month and public transport was a couple of minutes from our hotel. It was easy to get around once you get the hang of the metro.

  13. I highly recommend staying in Ueno. Straight shot from Narita via Skyliner and there’s a ton of restaurants there. Close to Akihabara and 30min train ride from Shibuya and easy access to other places since Ueno is a big station.

  14. I've stayed twice at the Mercure hotel near Haneda airport. Rooms are twice as large as you'd get in central Tokyo and it's 5 min from Otorii metro station.
