【一時帰国】🍣🗼東京で今気になるグルメ・ヴィンテージストア・観光スポットを巡って日本の夏を満喫🍶🛍️
Hello everyone. How are you all doing? I’m starting to pack for our trip to Japan, and I realized that suitcases take up a lot of storage space and don’t get used very often. I have four large suitcases and two carry-on suitcases, which take up a lot of storage space. Since I only use my suitcases occasionally, I was struggling to find a place to store them when I’m not using them. That’s when I found this convenient collapsable suitcase from JOLLYING. It collapses so compactly when not in use, making it incredibly convenient for everyday storage. The body is made of durable polycarbonate, with a slightly rough surface that makes it scratch-resistant. Let’s open it up. It looks like this, with four flaps inside. Simply lift each flap and fasten them with these snaps, and your suitcase is complete! It also has a TSA lock. An adjustable, extendable handle, as shown here, and this suitcase is a one-sided packing type. I find single-sided suitcases easier to use because there’s no need to worry about items spilling out when opening them. The casters swivel 360° in all directions and are noise-reducing, making for quiet and smooth movement. The thickness of this suitcase is 4.5 inches when collapsed, but 9 inches when unfolded. This revolutionary suitcase collapses to about half its thickness when not in use! Jollying’s minimalist and functional design has earned it some of the world’s most prestigious design awards. Collapsable suitcases are convenient for storage, but I wondered how water-resistant the expandable parts are. It’s not uncommon for sudden rain showers to occur while traveling, so I was curious to see what would happen to the expandable parts if they got wet, so I decided to test it. I spilled quite a bit of water on it, and the water-repellent coating makes it safe to use even on rainy days. Just to be safe, I checked to make sure the water hadn’t seeped inside, and there was no sign of it getting wet. This suitcase is the 20” Pebble series suitcase with a capacity of 35 liters, making it suitable for carry-on luggage. The Pebble series of foldable suitcases is available in 35-liter, 86-liter, 106-liter, and 120-liter sizes, meeting all your needs both domestically and internationally. It’s also available in seven colors, so I had a hard time deciding, but I chose gray. It weighs just 6 lbs and is incredibly thin. It’s only 4.3 inches thick when folded. This suitcase is great for weekends or short trips. Also if you plan on doing a lot of souvenir shopping when traveling abroad, you can pack it in your checked luggage as an extra bag. To help make packing easier for your return trip. Since I’ll be doing a lot of shopping in Japan, I’ll pack this suitcase as a spare bag. This suitcase is easy to access and use, making travel preparations and unpacking smooth and convenient. If you’re interested, I’ve included a link and discount code in the description, so please use them to save money. See you again in Japan! We arrived in Tokyo. Hello again Tokyo! I’m so excited to be back in the city. It’s beautiful weather. I’m really looking forward to experiencing
everything that Tokyo has this time. It’s great that it’s sunny. Usually when David comes to Tokyo… Yeah, I bring the rain. But not this time! The sun is shining, there’s a slight breeze, and the weather is comfortable. In the past, when David has come to Japan, so does a typhoon. No typhoon, we’re so happy. First, we’re going to Shibuya Sky, which we missed last summer. That’s right. Last year, there was a typhoon, so we canceled even though we reserved tickets. Unfortunately we missed our chance last time. So I’m really looking forward to seeing the view from the top this time. Let’s go! We arrived at Shibuya Scramble Square, where Shibuya Sky is located. From here, we headed to the 14th floor, where the ticket office is located. Here’s the Shibuya Scramble Crossing as seen from the 14th floor. We showed our tickets there and took the elevator to the 45th floor. We arrived at the 45th floor in no time. Outside, we were greeted by a sweeping view of the city. We took the escalator to the rooftop observation deck on the 46th floor. You can see major landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. We arrived at the observation deck, offering an unobstructed 360-degree view of the Tokyo cityscape from approximately 755 feet on the 45th floor. It’s amazing! Yeah, this cool! I feel like a bird in the sky. Last year, when I came, we got rained out. but now the sun’s out. There was a typhoon last year. That was the problem. It’s hot today, but there are a few clouds, I think the clouds are helping it feel cooler on this observation deck. Shall we walk around more? Let’s go to the other side! Shibuya Scramble Square, home to Shibuya Sky, is the tallest building in the area, and with no tall buildings blocking the view, the 360-degree panoramic view from here feels open and spacious. The rooftop observation deck has photo spots and hammocks, so you can enjoy the view as long as you want. While it may be a challenge for those who aren’t comfortable with heights, the view of the ground without any obstructions the outdoor escalators at this height are extraordinary. We enjoyed the sense of freedom and elation for a while. We’re having lunch at restaurant with a modern Japanese atmosphere. Shojo is a hidden gem nestled in the city. This is a private room, perfect for a calm, Japanese atmosphere. Cheers. So refreshing. Bon appétit. Oh my goodness. What a beautiful set. They look like little sculptures. Each one of them. This is really cool. Thank you for bringing me here. What a great experience. Ooh. That’s so good. Each dish is delicious. So many good flavors. They brought us lot of wonderful dishes in our private room. I’m starting to feel full. Will we be able to finish it all? I hope so. We should be fine. The dishes make use of seasonal ingredients and the staff’s excellent hospitality allows us to relax both body and mind. We were able to enjoy washoku (Japanese food) in a relaxed and comfortable private room. We just finished lunch. It was delicious. It was delicious, beautiful and really relaxing. It’s a hidden restaurant. Now, we’re heading to Daikanyama, to do some shopping at some stores I’ve had my eye on. While walking around Daikanyama, I came across a vintage store called Maison de Vii. This store has a great “buy two, get the third free” deal? Right?! I couldn’t believe it, so I asked the staff, and apparently it is true. I am excited to hear it. I looked at some of the items at the entrance, and some are reasonably priced. Let’s take a look around. As I mentioned earlier, this vintage store offers a buy-two-get-the-third-free deal, with no upper limit. That’s amazing! The staff mentioned earlier that the single number on the tag indicates
the condition of an item. The higher the number, the better the condition. There were many items with numbers around 8. This store has a lot of well-preserved vintage items. It’s also close to Daikanyama Station, so if you’re in the area, be sure to check it out! Now, we’re heading to Ginza. Good morning. It’s our second day in Tokyo. We’re at Zojoji Temple, located next to Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower. Zojoji Temple is a prestigious temple that unifies all Jodo sect temples throughout Japan. It has a history of over 600 years. This whole area including Shiba Park was part of its grounds untill the Edo period (1600s-1800s). It was a large temple, covering an area of approximately 230 acres. I love visiting
these historical landmarks of Tokyo. There’s only a few of them left
since the World War Two bombings, so it’s really interesting to me
to see some of the historical landmarks here in Tokyo. Let’s head straight to the temple! Zojoji Temple’s iconic Sangedatsumon Gate is a bright red structure, but I think it is currently undergoing repairs. So, I almost passed it by, wondering where Zojoji Temple was. It must be undergoing a full restoration. We’re not able to see the Sangedatsumon Gate today. Let’s go see the temple now. Located right next to Tokyo Tower, Zojoji Temple, has a 600-year history. It is a Jodo sect temple associated with
the shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The temple enshrines the “Kuro-Honzon,”
a sacred statue that was carried by shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu during battles, and is believed to bring good fortune. Tokyo Tower, towering behind the temple grounds, is also magnificent. Zojoji Temple was spectacular and impressive. It was beautiful. There’s a cute cafe nearby, so let’s go. I need something to cool off with. The cafe was relaxing. It was so nice and cute! Now we’re going to lunch at Sushi Bar MUGEN, run by a chef who trained at a Michelin-starred sushi restaurant in New York. All that sightseeing in the heat is making me hungry. Let’s go get some sushi! Located in a back alley in Roppongi, Sushi Bar MUGEN ∞ has a stylish cafe-bar-like exterior. It’s a bar and Edomae style sushi restaurant. Its unique, hip-hop-infused style is unconventional, in a good way, the vibes here are relaxed, compared to high-end sushi restaurants. The chef, who trained at a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City,
creates delicate sushi and exquisitely crafted sushi plates. They also have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, so they can match sake or mixed drinks that go perfectly with each sushi plate. The time spent in this comfortable space with the exquisite sushi and music was fantastic. We are going to try our first Purikura photo booth in over 10 years. Put your face in the frame! Just copy the pose on the screen! Oh. This is my favorite pose! That’s it?! Wait a minute! Oh no. Bon appétit. The fruit is fresh! Amazing! My turn to try some strawberry candy! It’s delicious. It’s been ages since I last had strawberry candy. How many decades has it been? The fruit inside is delicious. It’s refreshing, even though it’s candy. Combining elements from custom bikes, surfing, skateboarding, art, and music, we are now at the Deus Ex Machina Harajuku store, an apparel brand that truly embodies David’s passions. This flagship store consists of two floors, with a cafe and apparel area. Deus is an Australian brand, they have Tokyo-exclusive items, so now David is shopping. The day is over and it’s getting dark now. We’re going to the spa to relax and prepare for tomorrow. It’s time to relax and reward ourselves for walking around this beautiful city all day. Goodnight. We’re currently at Azabudai Hills, heading to TeamLab. We’ve been to TeamLab before in Odaiba, but that location is now closed. Yeah, that was really cool last time, the interactive art installation. It seems like really high tech
and kind of future art, that you get to walk and experience. It’s been about six years since we last went. Oh wow. Time flies! I’m looking forward to the next TeamLab, which I’m sure has been updated in many ways. I’m excited. I’m looking forward to it. Let’s go! TeamLab Borderless is a world of art without boundaries. It’s truly a “gallery without a map.” There are no set routes or explanations; you leave one room and move to another, enjoying the art as you please. Lighting effects flowed from room to room and space to space, creating a new digital art gallery where over 50 artworks intermingled. The digital world, encompassing the entire space, heightened the sense of immersion. We just finished teamLab Borderless. Being completely immersed in a digital art world left me with an indescribable feeling that can only be explained through experience. The sense of immersion was incredible, not only through sight, but also through the use of smells and mist. Super cool, interactive, immersive art show
that just had so much to see, and have around
every corner was like a new thing. We didn’t know what we would be seeing. You kind of find your own way
and discover. Kind of felt like we,
we’re in a Studio Ghibli movie. Ah, you’re right, Studio Ghibli. It kind of felt like a dream at one point. Just looking around and trying to orient ourselves. It was a new type of art. OK, now we’re off to CICADA in Omotesando, my favorite Mediterranean restaurant, which I visit at least once every time I return to Japan. I love that area. Let’s go! I made the reservation late, so they told me only counter seats are available, but lunch overlooking the courtyard is also lovely. This appetizer platter is always delicious, and goes well with champagne. My favorite is CICADA’s risotto. It’s their specialty risotto, where the umami flavors of shrimp and maitake mushrooms are exquisitely combined with the farro. Oh, it’s amazing. Isn’t this delicious? Pistachio! This might be the best I’ve ever had. It’s really good. Do they sell this at Trader Joe’s in LA? Huh? Do they sell this at Trader Joe’s? No way. We just had lunch at CICADA, my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. It was amazing. What was your favorite? I feel like I really liked the swordfish
this time. I wasn’t sure what to order. And you suggested swordfish.
And it was a really good choice. I also loved the marinated and grilled swordfish with herbs today. And the pistachio crème brûlée. Absolutely. It was amazingly delicious. Decadent. Not too sweet. Really flavorful. Such a special dessert, I don’t think I could ever think
about ordering that anywhere else. That’s such a good spot. I love crème brûlée and always order it when it’s on the menu but this pistachio crème brûlée was surprising and delicious. This restaurant is in a great location, and it’s like a little oasis in the city. It truly is. Today we’re heading back to Los Angeles. It was a short but sweet trip to Tokyo. It makes me want to come back soon. I love it here. Especially when the weather cooperates. It’s a little cloudy, though. I hope to return to Japan soon too. We are heading to the airport now! Thank you for watching everyone! Actually, I arrived in Japan a few days before David this time. I went to a sushi restaurant
that’s hard to get reservations for,
I’ve been trying since last year. By chance, there was just one seat available, so I’m going to eat sushi by myself today. Eventhough I was only in Tokyo for a short time, a cancellation happened and I was able to go. I’m going to capture on camera why this restaurant is so hard to get reservations for! The restaurant, called “Sushi Nosuke,” is located on the basement floor of the Shinbashi Building. It offers a simple menu with only one ¥8,800 ($60) omakase course. All seven seats were filled immediately upon opening at 5 p.m. First, I ordered a beer. I’ll show you the Omakase couse meal. This is the restaurant’s specialty, the “Sushi Nosuke Bowl,” featuring purple sea urchin, salmon roe, and tuna head meat. I was personally looking forward to this bowl . A reason this restaurant is so difficult to book is because for only ¥8,800($60), its a great value for premium sushi and appetizers, including sea urchin. Another reason is that they ask about your next reservation when you pay, and everyone makes one before leaving. The earliest reservation is about two years in the future, so it’s easy to forget you even made a reservation. However, they release the availability on the first of each month on their website, so there are some opportunities. In the past I was unable to get a reservation to this restaurant, so I was very happy to be able to go there this time.
