高根城 戦国時代の山城を復元した城 静岡県 Takane Castle 2025
Today, I’m heading to Takane Castle in Shizuoka Prefecture. Takane Castle is an impregnable mountain castle. I’ll be traveling north from Toyohashi on the Iida Line. I’ll get off at Mukaiichiba Station. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the station to the main bailey. Takane Castle was built in 1414 by Okuyama Sadanori, a powerful clan leader from Totomi. During the Sengoku period, it underwent extensive renovations as a base for Takeda Shingen’s invasion of Totomi. There’s a signboard at Takane Castle. Currently, the castle’s turrets and gates have been restored based on excavation findings. After a short walk, I came across a parking lot. There’s also a signboard there. From here, I entered the mountain path. The road is well maintained, making the climb easier. I could see the earthen walls. I could see the entire castle town. This appears to be the main entrance. It’s located very close to the gate, so perhaps it’s a guardhouse. There’s another gate. This is the well tower turret. It’s 8 meters high. The building appears to have been restored using the techniques of the time, without the use of nails. The main hall has also been restored. There is a memorial monument to the castle’s past lords. Attacking from here would be easy. Let’s go to the next bailey. This is the gate below the main bailey. Above this is the second bailey, but we couldn’t go up because the ladders were prohibited. This path makes it difficult to defend against attacks from enemies in the second bailey. This is the moat between the second and third baileys. This is the third bailey. The fence rows have been restored. You can see the huge double moat. We go to see the double moat . It is protected by earthworks and moats. You can see the Maruumadashi earthworks. It is amazing that a moat of this size could be found in a mountain castle. The lower moat is a Yagenbori moat. Let’s go to the other side of the third bailey. It would be impossible to invade beyond this double moat. Let’s go back the way we came. This castle has been beautifully restored based on excavation surveys. Thank you for watching.
