Then set up the equipment so that it flutters. If the positions are reversed, the wind will blow and the equipment will become all tangled, so make sure the equipment is always at the front! Remember that the bait box is in the back. We’re going to fill the bait box with bait, but fill it to about 70% or 80% full. We want it to be airy… put it in softly like this. We use cushion rubber, 1.5mm, short pieces about 10-20cm long. It will reduce the number of fish that get away, so we think it’s a good idea to use it . There are two types of bait for fishing for horse mackerel, bloodworms (worms) and red tang, which is squid dyed red or a gummy bait like this. We’ll use these. It depends on the bite and the conditions on the day. *The basic rule is to use bloodworms on one hook at the bottom and red tang on the top. We attach the red tang to the sharpest part of the hook. Attaching it here will make the hook float, so it will hook the fish better. We’ll hook the head of the bloodworm on the hook and keep it short, about 1cm long. If it’s too long, it will cause the fish to get away, so we’ll keep it at this length. Fried horse mackerel – winner!
