東京鐵塔的鄰居 濱松町與汐留一日漫步|濱離宮恩賜庭園、氣氛滿分和菓子茶屋、義大利街、肉店的葡萄酒食堂|日本旅遊、Satori日本生活
Hi, I’m Satori. I’m at Hamamatsuchō Station. Tokyo Tower is such an obvious landmark. Look closely—this is made of blocks. Takoyaki made of blocks too. Let’s get lunch first. Seven minutes toward Tokyo Tower. Less than 20 minutes from here to Tokyo Tower. Cool and comfy today. Feels like autumn already. Turn into Shiba Shinmei Shopping Street. We’re heading to an affordable bistro. When I booked, they said only one seat left. And it’s very close to the next table. No idea how close. They even warned us,
so I’m curious how close it is. There are quite a few restaurants on this street. Here’s the place. There’s already a line. Glad we booked. ¥1,300 includes starter, main, and bread. The seats aren’t as close as I feared. I thought we’d be literally touching. Feels normal. Yeah. Mains are roast pork, pork stew, or steamed chicken. Salad for lunch (or you can switch to soup). Bread included. We both got roast pork loin. With whole-grain mustard sauce and mashed potatoes. This pork is really thick. I thought the mash was propping it up. Turns out it’s actually that thick. Yeah, super thick. And juicy. Seems sous-vide/low-temp. The color’s pale. Low-temp cooking keeps the juices in. Why did we order the same thing? We should’ve picked different ones. Maybe too hungry. That pork just pulled us in. About 30 minutes after we sat down, staff hinted to pay.
Looks like they value fast turnover. This shutter art is pretty. My takeaway is… the main meat is huge. Seasoning felt pretty ordinary. Yeah, nothing special. The plus is the price, I guess. So many pigeons at the entrance. Is this place even open? A pigeon just walked out. There’s a basin of water outside. Probably for the pigeons. We’re heading toward Shiodome. It’s a 10-minute walk to Shiodome Station. Turn here for “Italian Town.” It’s designed to look like Italian streets. As soon as you enter, stone pavement all the way. Construction right now. Looks like they’re redoing the surface. There’s a restaurant on the corner—maybe Italian. This one? Main, salad, and drink for ¥1,880. Maybe we should’ve eaten here. The sun is eating pizza. Look next to it— the moon is drinking wine. The place next door is Italian too. From outside, they all look nice. We just ran into a TV shoot with celebs in the plaza. A bit far, but I saw their faces. Pretty sure it was Tomoharu Shōji and his wife, Miki Fujimoto. It’s already aired. The guest was Ken Miyake—saw him too. Hama-rikyū Gardens is near Shiodome Station. Neither of us has been. Let’s walk from here—about 12 minutes. We’re here on the map. Shiodome is right next to us. Hama-rikyū is here. Go straight and there’s an entrance. Not sure if it’s passable, though. If not, we’ll circle to the Ōtemon Gate. Is there a crosswalk up ahead? Yeah. I see it. Great, we won’t need to go all the way to Ōtemon. Here in under five minutes. Basically just a turn from Italian Town. We don’t know Shiodome well, though. Last time was years ago. Big fish leading little fish. Are they in swimming class? Diving class—they vanished. Fish move in schools. The duck looks a bit lonely. Hama-rikyū admission is ¥300. There’s also Kyū Shiba-rikyū near Hamamatsuchō Station. If you visit both, there’s a combo ticket. Saves ¥50. We’ll do the other garden next time. The ticket photos are all different. No re-entry. Naka-no-gomon Gate was used from early Edo to Taishō. We’re entering via Naka-no-gomon. Let’s go left first. Hama-rikyū was the Tokugawa family’s garden, later an Imperial villa. Not many people on this path. Maybe people take it last to the exit. There’s another gate over there. I saw a butterfly sipping nectar. That butterfly wants a blue red spider lily. Blue ones don’t exist in real life, right? Probably not. We reached Ōtemon. Seems like most people use this gate. Maybe Google Maps sends them here. It’s the default route. This pine was planted in 1709. Over 300 years old. One of the largest black pines in Tokyo. In person, it’s impressive. We’ll head to the flower garden, rest area, and duck blinds. Soon after entering, it suddenly got hot. A small shop in the rest area. Lots of people eating dango. Too hot—taking a break under the shelter. Still hot here, but at least there’s shade. There were many ducks here earlier. Sat down for a bit and they’re gone. I see just one.
Maybe the others went to cool off. This rest area is nice. Surrounded by green. A whole field of flowers beside us. Even in the heat, we have to see the blooms. Yellow cosmos in full bloom. From afar I thought that was an art piece. So what plant is it, anyway… There’s a small shrine next to it. An old shrine with unknown founding date. Let’s keep going. Found red spider lilies again. This is the boat landing. You can’t board here now—disembarking only. There’s a lighthouse site ahead. There used to be a lighthouse near the pier. There are two duck blinds in the garden. Go ahead to Kōshindō Duck Blind first. Great view from this small hill. There’s the duck blind. Daimyō used to build them at villas, etc. They’re for hunting wild ducks and waterfowl. Only five places in Japan still have them. Hama-rikyū is one of them. Check ducks through the big and small peepholes, lure them to the moat edge with bait, then catch them with nets or falcons. Let’s look through the small peephole. The big peephole is up ahead. The big one is definitely bigger. No ducks to hunt today. There are several teahouses. Four “O-chaya” have been faithfully reconstructed from records. Shoguns rested here during falconry. Taka-no-Ochaya is now a small exhibit room. Tools for handling a thrusting net. The thrusting net itself. Ahead is Nakajima Ochaya. They sell tea and sweets inside. Arrived at Nakajima Ochaya. Might have to line up a bit. You can order matcha alone or as a set. Order first, then find seats. We got in after five minutes. We ordered chestnut dorayaki and nerikiri. Both as matcha sets. Today’s nerikiri is yuzu flavor. When the people next to us left, the staff asked if we’d like to move— better view over there. So we moved. Sweets with a garden view—pure bliss. Not too sweet, and the yuzu aroma is lovely. Looks decent. You sliced it nicely. The dorayaki has chestnut filling. The bitterness of matcha pairs well. The sweets aren’t overly sweet today either. Just sitting here feels great. Around four, they opened the windows. A cool breeze drifted in. The sunset light made it even prettier. They also sell a few souvenirs. Let’s check outside the teahouse too. I love the atmosphere here. So relaxed. Perfect place to cleanse a tired office worker’s soul. The outdoor slippers are a bit big. Careful not to kick them off. Isn’t Tokyo kind of magical? We’ve visited several Japanese gardens, and they’re all like this— traditional scenery right next to tall buildings. Old and new mixed together. Ducks moving in a group. As long as they avoid the blinds, they’re safe. Exit and entrance are on different sides. The teahouse is closed already. Everyone’s leaving from the entrance side. We ended up spending the whole afternoon here. It closes at five. Twenty minutes left—let’s head to the exit. Hama-rikyū was… I thought it’d be packed, but for a weekend it was quieter than I expected. We’ll walk back to Hamamatsuchō from the garden. About 20 minutes. Thank you for visiting today. We’re closing soon. Someone forgot their toy… On the way to the bakery. The bakery’s about a 4-minute walk from the station. We’ve arrived at the bakery. Looks like there’s still a little bread left. A small shop near the station. It’s after five. Not much bread left. The Halloween cookies are so cute. We bought a loaf of milk bread. Asked them to slice it into six. Also got a chocolate bread. When I picked it up with tongs, I accidentally scuffed the top a bit. Next door is a dessert shop with the same name. I’m really curious about that dessert shop. But it’s closed on weekends. Back near the station to see what’s around. Let’s find dinner. Akita-ya across the way has a huge line. Turns out it’s a motsuyaki place. People eat standing outside. We spotted a building next to Daimon Station— there’s a restaurant in the basement. It’s in the station-connected building, B3F. A super handy beef cut chart. We already had a lot of meat at lunch, but this place looks meat-heavy too. Duck! No need to hunt—just order and eat. This looks good. What’s that? Beef. Beef bourguignon. Plenty of options. They even have venison. I got oolong tea. My husband got cola. You pour the cola yourself. Somehow it tastes better that way. The cover charge here is bread (¥390 per person, tax in). We ordered the beef bourguignon. The meat’s meltingly soft, rich with wine. Texture and flavor are both nice. A whole duck leg. Smells amazing. The aroma keeps wafting up. Listen— I can sum this dish up in four words. That good? Tender and fragrant. Skin isn’t super crisp—must’ve soaked in the sauce. But the meat aroma is fantastic. Very tender, too. Same as the beef— seasoning is spot on. Both dishes are great. We also got pasta with Hokkaidō venison ragù. So our three dishes were duck, beef, and venison.
A full-on meat day. Flavor is standard. Not as striking as the meat dishes. With cola, you basically get a cup and a half. Good thing we didn’t buy the Hama-rikyū & Kyū Shiba-rikyū combo. We spent so long in Hama-rikyū alone. There’s a lot to see in the garden. The teahouse was so comfy we didn’t want to leave. Worth savoring a whole afternoon. Thanks for watching till the end. See you in the next one.
