【福岡自由行攻略行程懶人包】福岡30個必玩旅遊景點+美食|福岡住宿推薦|福岡六天五夜花多少?

This video compiles 30 must-see attractions and must-try foods in Fukuoka, Japan. Visit Fukuoka Tower for panoramic night views, explore hidden Japanese gardens in Ohori Park, experience Japanese yatai (traditional Japanese food stalls) , try my favorite mentaiko bread , and enjoy incredibly delicious grilled fish. Also check out Dazaifu, Tenmangu Shrine , Koju -Yume Bridge, Beppu, Jigokudani (Hell Valley) , and the hot spring town of Yufuin . Want to know how to explore Fukuoka, what to eat , how to get around, and how much a 6-day, 5-night trip will cost? Be sure to watch until the end ! Hi everyone~ I’m Leo! Following our previous trip to Hokkaido, this time we’re in Fukuoka , the largest city in Kyushu . Our 6-day, 5-night itinerary is quite special . The first two days will be spent exploring Fukuoka on our own, eating, drinking, having fun, and shopping. The next four days will be with our family —this time a large group of 10— to visit Dazaifu, Tenmangu Shrine , Koju-Yume Bridge, Beppu, Jigokudani (Hell Valley) , and finally, the most popular hot spring town, Yufuin. Let’s continue exploring what Fukuoka has to offer! Oh , and by the way, I have to complain a bit. The last time I wore this coat was over a year ago when I went to Kyoto and Osaka , and it’s been sitting in my closet ever since, and it’s started peeling ! Please forgive me if you don’t like the peeling coat . Fukuoka is Japan’s sixth largest city and one of its four major culinary capitals. It’s only a two-hour flight from Taiwan, and the airport is just a short 15-minute drive from the city center— very convenient. For this trip to Fukuoka, I flew Tigerair Taiwan. Even with the flash sale ticket, it still cost NT$6833! Before the pandemic, tickets to Fukuoka were only NT$3000+, but that’s no longer possible. First, here are the must-see attractions in Fukuoka… The attraction is the Tenjin Shopping District , a hub for shopping centers and trendy shops . It boasts numerous well-known department stores , established brands , and even a whole underground shopping street. Let’s quickly explore what’s there to see! Now, let’s stroll through the Tenjin Underground Shopping Street. It’s a very beautiful shopping street , designed in a European style with cobblestones everywhere. The European-style streetlights are adorned with lace carvings, making the entire street incredibly beautiful and giving it a distinctly exotic atmosphere. This shopping street leads directly to the Daimaru Department Store, and at the other end, it leads to the Mitsukoshi Department Store. Walk a little further to Press Butter… Sand ‘s Kyushu-limited strawberry flavor is so good! They also have apple, chestnut, and white chocolate flavors . I bought a Kumamon strawberry one at Mitsukoshi Department Store for only 647 yen – super cheap! Now we’re having lunch in Tenjin. We ‘re having lunch at this super famous gourd sushi restaurant. It’s next to a FamilyMart , a very small shop , but very famous. Many people recommend it when visiting Tenjin. We arrived at 1 pm. It’s on the second floor , and there’s already a long line. The menu is quite diverse. Today we ordered a skewer and various kinds of sushi. We each ordered our favorites. They also have many combo sets to choose from, but today we just ordered what we liked. The scallops are huge, and the salmon roe is bursting out! Come and try it! The sweetness of the scallop is spreading everywhere! Wow , it’s super fresh and tastes so sweet and delicious! The salmon is also melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I think it’s even better than the Nemuro Hanamaru we had in Hokkaido last month. The seared salmon and mentaiko , as well as the seared mentaiko squid, were also amazing. The mentaiko was huge, it felt so sinful to eat! All the sushi looked so delicate and delicious. The skewers arrived, wow, the presentation was so generous! They looked so delicious, the sauce was dripping! We had a mishap when we were eating the gourd sushi, we only had 11,000 yen left from our last trip to Hokkaido . When the menu came out, we didn’t even look at the prices, we were too hungry and just ordered whatever we wanted. It cost 7,600 yen, almost not enough for our first meal in Fukuoka, we spent 2/3 of our cash! How do we get to the Tenjin shopping district? You can take the Airport Line to Tenjin Station or the Nanakuma Line to Tenjin Minami Station. The gourd sushi is located between these two stations. The next must-see attraction in Fukuoka is Kushida Shrine . Kushida Shrine is the oldest shrine in Fukuoka, with a history of over 1200 years and is considered… We were very lucky today because we happened to be here in February during the Setsubun Festival, and we saw the Fukujin mask, which is the largest in Japan. It’s said that if you crawl through its mouth, you’ll receive a whole year’s worth of good luck ! After we crawled in , we saw a lucky wheel for the 12 zodiac animals on the ceiling. We could see where our lucky direction was. First, we had to cleanse our minds at the shrine . After that, we could visit the main hall. I really liked the atmosphere of Kushida Shrine; it was both solemn and beautiful. When you come to Kushida Shrine, you must drink the sacred spring water from Tsurui. It’s said that this spring is a legendary sacred spring that can prolong life. You should drink it in three sips: the first sip for yourself, the second for your family, and the third for everyone around you . After drinking it, everyone will prolong their lives! However, the water is quite salty, so please drink in moderation. After we finished our prayers, we went to the side, where there was… The giant yukata (mountain hat) is a must-see at Kushida Shrine. This giant yukata is a portable shrine offered to the gods during the Hakata Gion festival in July , to pray for good weather and national peace. This giant yukata is enormous; I don’t know how many meters high it is. The people carrying this giant yukata during the festival are truly amazing . The yukata is decorated with figures related to Japanese classical legends. Next to it are the power stones ( ritual stones) that sumo wrestlers from various dynasties offered to the gods . There’s even a power stone here that you can try to lift! Haha, it looks incredibly heavy! Ah… oh… haha, I can’t lift it, it’s too heavy! The sumo wrestlers are too strong, I can’t lift it at all! After lifting the power stone, continue walking. There are many other small shrines around Kushida Shrine , and there are also sacred bull statues. Don’t forget to buy amulets! I really love Kushida Shrine. On the third night, I brought my family back again . Kushida Shrine is also very beautiful at night , with lanterns and night lights illuminating the shrine. There’s a different feeling here too, so I recommend visiting both day and night. We came out from behind Kushida Shrine, which connects right to Kawabata-dori Shopping Street , a very famous and popular shopping street. How to get to Kushida Shrine? Take the Nanakuma Subway Line to Kushida-shrine-mae Station. We’re now at our hotel, Hotel Monte Hermana. I’m just checking out… When I checked in, the receptionist said they couldn’t find my booking information . It turned out I’d booked the wrong dates! This was the first time I’d ever made a mistake booking so far. Luckily, they still had rooms available, so I immediately rebooked; otherwise, I almost would have been homeless. The lobby was quite nice, comfortable, and clean. The room and hallway were spacious, and the room itself was okay. There were two single beds and good natural light. We were staying on the 11th floor and could see the city , but I felt the room ‘s decor wasn’t very high-quality. And this… well, I don’t know what these bubbles are for . The toilet was a bit small. I think Fukuoka’s weakness is the high cost of accommodation. Although it’s a very nice city , prices start at around NT$3,000 (double room per night). This was a very cheap room we found , around NT$2,000 (double room per night) , and the room size was quite satisfactory. Yesterday, we stayed at this Monte Hermana… I found the bed to be quite comfortable. Its advantages are that it’s only a 3-5 minute walk from the MRT station, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets downstairs, so the location is pretty good. The room space is also quite large. However, I felt some of the smaller details were just average; the decor was a bit dated, and the hotel’s Wi-Fi was a little laggy. Luckily, this time in Japan I used the Japanese brand Esim’s Trifa network, which had stable speeds without slowing down. It offered unlimited data and could be shared with others. The data plan allowed me to check my remaining data in the app , so I wasn’t worried about running out . Even if I did run out, I could easily buy more online, which was very convenient. It’s available in over 200 countries worldwide , and Trifa has its own dedicated app. Installation is easy with just a few taps ; no additional QR code scanning is required. Even seniors who aren’t tech-savvy can easily operate Code . Most importantly, it offers 24/7 online customer service . If you encounter any network problems while abroad, you can directly ask online for timely solutions. If you need to use Esim next time you travel abroad, try Trifa! Enter my promo code for a discount! How to get to the Monte Emmanuana Hotel? Take the Nanakuma Subway Line to Watanabe-dori Station, and it’s a 3-minute walk. Next, a must-see attraction in Fukuoka is Fukuoka Tower. This super tall tower is the tallest building in Fukuoka and the third tallest tower in Japan, after Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower. It’s also the tallest seaside tower in Japan. Fukuoka Tower was built in 1989 to commemorate the Asia-Pacific Exposition. Its exterior is a very stylish triangular shape, very avant-garde , and also echoes the Fukuoka city emblem. To go up Fukuoka Tower , you need to buy tickets at the ticket counter , or you can buy them online at Klook. Good tickets, but you still have to queue. The price is a little cheaper than queuing on-site. We’re going up to the observation deck now. The ticket has a picture of Fukuoka Tower on it. The elevator has beautiful lights. The elevator ride took about 30 minutes. You can see the structure inside Fukuoka Tower from the transparent elevator. We’re now at the 123-meter-high top observation deck. The night view of Fukuoka City from here is super beautiful . It’s a 360-degree view of Fukuoka’s night view from different angles . Wow, it’s so beautiful! The night view here is gorgeous , and there’s even a lit-up floor. You have to queue to take pictures here. Wow, so awesome! The night view from here is quite romantic. I think the design of Fukuoka Tower is also very good. They turn off all the lights here, so there’s less glare when you’re taking pictures of the night view. The night view here is even more beautiful than I imagined. You can see not only the city but also the sea. The night view of Fukuoka Tower is really beautiful. We took pictures here for a long time. You can overlook the entire Fukuoka from this high place. The city’s night view is stunning, making the whole city even more beautiful at night. Fukuoka Tower also features love locks and a heart-shaped archway , perfect for couples to take photos. Everyone should definitely come to Fukuoka Tower for the beautiful and romantic night view! Since the elevators at Fukuoka Tower are quite small , we queued for a while. We bought a small box of fried chicken and this pudding from FamilyMart downstairs. We heard this pudding is amazing; we searched for it in many stores when we went to Hokkaido last month but couldn’t find it . We finally found it in Fukuoka today! Let’s try it! Its texture is nothing like pudding; it’s more like eating a watery cheese. The outer layer is smooth , while the inside is firm and chewy, offering two distinct textures. It ‘s quite delicious, with a strong milky flavor . The fried chicken wasn’t hot at all; the Lawson fryer was a winner! How to get to Fukuoka Tower? Take bus 302 or W1 near Tenjin Station . For dinner tonight, we’re going to eat at Menya Kengoro . Menya Kengoro is located in Tenjin… This place is known for its must-try tsukemen (dipping noodles) , which is incredibly rich and spicy. However, since we’re not good with spicy food , we opted for the original rich tsukemen. We spent too much cash at lunchtime eating gourd sushi and didn’t have enough to pay cash at the main branch, so we came to PARCO (a branch that accepts credit cards). We arrived at 9 PM and there was still a long queue. After waiting for half an hour, our food finally arrived! We were starving! Look at the noodles – they’re so chewy and bouncy ! The softness and chewiness are truly amazing. The tsukemen is incredibly thick ; I’ve never had anything this thick before. I don’t really like thick soups or those greasy textures, so I wondered if I’d like it . It seems alright , even better than I expected ! Perhaps it’s because the broth has a distinct fishy flavor , and it’s made with many different spices and meats, creating a very rich flavor profile. There are also large chunks of meat ! It melts in your mouth when you bite into it, it ‘s amazing! And the rich broth… I just added a little soup to dilute it so you can drink it like soup , but it’s probably super high in calories, so please consume it in moderation. Finally, dip the noodles in the broth and eat it again. All three different flavors can be enjoyed in one tsukemen! Wow, try it! The rice smells so good! Mmm, delicious! It’s all mixed together , and the egg is also coated in it . The overall texture is fantastic , with a slightly spicy kick. This Menya Kengo is truly the best tsukemen I’ve ever had. Everyone who comes to Tenjin in Fukuoka must remember to try it! It’s delicious! How to get to Menya Kengo? Take the Airport Line subway to Tenjin Station. Menya Kengo is inside the PARCO department store. For lunch… I’d heard this was a really good robatayaki restaurant , and it even has a big fish character on the outside, so their grilled fish must be amazing! I had to come and try it! They only offer two set meals: coho salmon and kabayaki. It’s a very cheerful place; all the staff are still writing in their notebooks , haha. The plating is gorgeous! The salmon is placed directly on a stone slab. I’ll try it first. The salmon roe is very fresh. The salmon itself is a bit salty , but the texture is fantastic—it melts in your mouth . The freshly cooked rice is steaming! It’s so freshly cooked, it’s really great! The texture is amazing. Next, I’ll try a large piece of grilled salmon with a sprinkle of lemon juice. The grilling is done perfectly. Unlike some salmon that are dry, tough, and hard to chew, their salmon retains its moisture and has a very tender texture. It’s a truly high-quality grilled salmon. You can tell how delicious it is by how cleanly I ate it! How to get to Robatayaki ? Take the Nanakuma Line subway to Roppongi Station, and it’s a 3-minute walk from there. The next must-see attraction in Fukuoka is Ohori Park. Ohori Park is the largest urban park in Fukuoka. It has a large artificial lake and four bridges that lead to the center of the lake. The largest bridge, the Kangetsu Bridge, which is closest to the entrance, is also a tangible cultural property of Fukuoka City. The entire lake is very beautiful , and there are swan boats that you can paddle on. If you have time, you can also rent a boat to enjoy the entire Ohori Park from the lake. This area was originally the moat of Fukuoka Castle. Later, it was transformed into this park, and it became a very popular leisure spot for citizens . The weather is sunny and breezy now, and a stroll along Ohori Park in Fukuoka allows you to enjoy the very relaxed atmosphere of Fukuoka. It’s fantastic! There’s a beautiful Starbucks in Ohori Park, which, along with the Starbucks in Dazaifu (which we’re going to tomorrow) , is considered one of the two most beautiful Starbucks in Fukuoka. We bought a cup of Fukuji Tea and sat by the lake, enjoying the view. The shimmering lake is truly beautiful. You won’t be bored spending an afternoon in Ohori Park. On the south side of Ohori Park , there’s also a hidden Japanese garden. This Japanese garden is built using traditional Japanese gardening techniques. As you can see, it’s very beautiful… The classic Japanese garden is quaint and charming , with a small pond , various trees , and flowing water and bridges —it’s truly beautiful. A visit here is a great way to relax and unwind; the atmosphere is fantastic. For just 250 yen, you can stroll through this classic Japanese garden— it’s incredibly pleasant. Next to the Japanese garden is the Fukuoka City Museum of Art , a very famous attraction. Its plaza features a large yellow pumpkin , a work by Yayoi Kusama, which many people take photos with. Art lovers who enjoy visiting museums can also visit this place to check out the exhibitions. How to get to Ohori Park ? Take the Airport Line subway to Ohori Park Station; it’s a 3-minute walk. Both the Japanese garden and the Fukuoka City Museum of Art are located on the south side of the park. We’re checking into the West Hotel near Nakasu-Kawabata today. The room is a little smaller than yesterday’s , but it has a square layout and the hallways are still quite spacious. The details are well done ; the room is much newer and looks very clean , and the bathroom is quite large with a huge mirror. The clothes look high-quality; they ‘re black, and they even gave us a bag so we can bring some dirty clothes and towels if we want to go to the hot springs later. How do we get to the West Hotel? Take the Airport Line subway to Nakasu-Kawabata Station, and it’s a 3-minute walk. The next must-see attraction in Fukuoka is Nakasu Yatai Street . Besides being one of Japan’s three major red-light districts, Nakasu also has one of Japan’s most famous… Nakasu Yatai is a great place to experience the vibrant night market culture. There are over 100 open-air food stalls offering a wide variety of food. So , if you want to experience Japanese night market culture, Nakasu Yatai is the place to go! It boasts the most diverse selection of stalls, from mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and ramen to grilled rice balls. Fukuoka’s yatai flourished after World War II. Due to the economic depression and food shortages , many people started setting up yatai along the roadside to make a living . At its peak, there were as many as 400 yatai. However, due to restrictions imposed by hygiene and traffic regulations , the yatai gradually declined. Later, all the vendors gathered together and said they couldn’t… The lights of the night market disappeared, and then the self-governance regulations for the yatai (traditional Japanese hawker stalls) were improved, which led to its resurgence and the current yatai. How to get to Nakasu Yatai Street? Take the Nanakuma Subway Line to Kushida Shrine-mae Station, and it’s a 5-minute walk. That concludes our food and shopping tour of Fukuoka City. I truly believe Fukuoka deserves its reputation as a food capital; the food was amazing! I loved the beautiful night view of Fukuoka Tower , the stunning Kushida Shrine , and the relaxing Ohori Park. Next, we’ll be visiting Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine , Koju -yume Bridge, and Beppu Jigokudani (Hell Valley). Today marks the start of our four-day trip with my family —a group of ten— to explore Fukuoka. Let’s continue to see what else Fukuoka has to offer! Let’s go! On the morning of the third day, we’ll be starting our journey from Fukuoka City… Back at the airport to pick up my family , I’d like to share two ways to get from downtown Fukuoka to the airport. The first way is to take the airport subway line to Fukuoka Airport Station. Since Fukuoka Airport Station is for domestic flights , if you want to take the international line, you’ll need to take a free airport shuttle bus, which takes about ten minutes . This method is suitable for those staying near the airport line. The second way is to take the airport shuttle bus directly from Hakata Station to the Fukuoka International Airport line without transferring or getting on/off the subway. If you happen to be staying in Hakata, taking the bus directly will be more convenient. We needed to go to Hakata Station to pick up our tickets for the Yufuin no Mori train, which we’d be taking in a few days, so we took the airport shuttle bus directly. After meeting up with my family at Fukuoka Airport, we headed to Dazaifu. You can buy bus tickets at the airport self-service kiosks. A ticket costs ¥600 yen and can be paid with cash or credit card. The process is very simple. If you have any questions , you can ask the volunteers on site. After buying your Dazaifu bus ticket , find Lawson. There are signs for numbers 6 and 7 next to it. We lined up in lane A, which is the bus stop for Dazaifu. After getting off the bus, you will arrive at the Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station. If you are coming from the Nishitetsu, you will get off here. Since we came directly to Dazaifu from the airport , we will have luggage, which we will put in the luggage lockers next to the Nishitetsu station. There are many lockers, four rows of large , medium, and small lockers, as well as extra large ones from ¥400 and ¥600. The price ranges from 800 to 1000 yen . If you have extra-large luggage (a 29-inch suitcase) , you can fit 800 or 1000 yen. A must-see attraction in Fukuoka is the Omotesando (outer approach street) of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. We took the train to Nishitetsu Station, and this is Omotesando right there. Omotesando is very crowded, with many people wearing kimonos. On both sides are various souvenir shops and snack stalls where you can stroll around. When you come to Omotesando, you must buy ume-mochi ( plum blossom rice cake). Ume-mochi is a local specialty. Legend has it that when Sugawara no Michizane was demoted to Dazaifu, he was very depressed. An old woman gave him ume-mochi and encouraged him. Therefore, ume-mochi became Sugawara no Michizane’s favorite food and a local specialty. So, when you come here, there are many ume-mochi shops on Omotesando to choose from. Although it’s called ume-mochi , it doesn’t actually contain plums. It’s a sweet dessert made of glutinous rice filled with red bean paste. I bought some ume-mochi! It was hot and had a plum blossom pattern. The skin looked thin and it looked quite delicious. I tried a bite, and wow, the crust is very thin and slightly crispy. The red bean filling inside isn’t overly sweet; it’s delicious. Eating this warm plum-shaped rice cake in winter is also quite nice . Remember to try the plum-shaped rice cake when you come to Omotesando ! After passing the first torii gate on Omotesando, you’ll reach this Tenzan Strawberry Daifuku. It’s a very famous shop with long queues and huge strawberries. Let’s buy some and try them ! Wow, the strawberries are so sweet and huge, about the size of a small fist! The Tenzan Strawberry Daifuku is delicious. Besides the large, sweet strawberries, you can taste the chewy mochi inside , and the outer layer is a crispy biscuit— super delicious! There’s also a uniquely designed Starbucks on Omotesando near Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine , known as the most beautiful Starbucks in Japan. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, it’s made of over two thousand interwoven wooden strips, giving it a flowing feel. And it’s completely nail -free, much like Kiyomizu-dera Temple , using mortise and tenon joints to showcase traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern aesthetics. A must-visit in Fukuoka! The attraction is Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is the head shrine of 12,000 Tenmangu shrines throughout Japan. It enshrines Sugawara no Michizane , the god of learning, who is also called Tenjin (heavenly god) . Therefore, many students or students who want to pray for good exam results come here. I had visited Tenmangu Shrine once before the pandemic, when I prayed for success in my career. Now I’m here to fulfill my vow. When you arrive at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, you will see a sacred ox at the entrance of the shrine . Legend has it that Sugawara no Michizane was born in the Year of the Ox and died in the Year of the Ox. When he died, the oxen that were transporting Sugawara no Michizane stopped when they arrived in Dazaifu. Therefore, the ox became a symbol of Dazaifu. You can line up to touch the head of this sacred ox and pray for peace and academic success. However, the line is very long, so if you don’t want to wait in line, you can go inside Dazaifu first. There are many oxen inside. If you can’t touch them all, you can come out and line up again. After touching the sacred ox, we enter the shrine entrance and see the Taiko Bridge. There are three Taiko Bridges in total , representing the past, present, and future. Now I will cross the first arched bridge. It’s a taiko bridge representing the past. Only the middle section, representing the present, is flat. The front and back sections, representing the past and future, are arched. I think the taiko’s symbolism is that when we look back, it’s an arched bridge, so we can’t see what’s behind us, meaning we can’t change the past . Similarly, the future section is also an arched bridge because the future is unpredictable. The flat middle section, representing the present, means we should focus on the present , not regret the past , and not give up because of uncertainty about the future. Crossing the taiko bridge, we can enter Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine with a clean mind and body . We’re about to enter the magnificent Gohonden (main hall). This Gohonden was rebuilt in 1591 and has over 400 years of history. It’s even listed as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Unfortunately, it’s currently under renovation and not as beautiful and magnificent as when I visited before. But that’s okay. Next to the Gohonden is a plum tree that’s also quite interesting . Legend has it that when Sugawara no Michizane died, it sprouted plum blossoms from his hometown overnight. The plum tree flew directly over here, hence the legend of the flying plum tree . Remember to see it when you visit ! Unfortunately, we came a little too early this time, and the plum blossoms weren’t in full bloom yet. Otherwise, when I came last time, the whole place was bursting with beautiful white plum blossoms. Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is incredibly beautiful, with over 6,000 plum trees, hence its nickname “Plum Blossom Shrine.” Sadly, when we came in February this year, the plum blossoms weren’t even in bloom yet, which was quite a pity. The next must-see in Fukuoka is to eat at Ichiran Ramen at the Dazaifu approach . Ichiran Ramen originated in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan, and it has limited-edition… The pentagonal “Pass the Exam ” ramen bowl is shaped like a pentagon, symbolizing a plum blossom , and even the chopsticks are pentagonal—very special! So, we came here to eat at this unique ramen shop. Students taking the exam can come here and have a bowl of “Pass the Exam” ramen ; it’ll bring good luck! Like most ramen shops in Fukuoka, Ichiran uses a self-service ordering system; remember to bring cash! There are ten of us in total, and this shop only has sixteen seats, so this whole row is ours. Only a few seats in the other row are for other individual customers. Today I ordered the “Pass the Exam” set meal for ¥1410. It has a soft-boiled salted egg. Wow, here it comes! My “Pass the Exam” ramen is here! The pentagonal super special… I immediately tried some of the other dishes , and even the chopsticks were pentagonal! I ordered the firm noodles with a little chili powder, and it was absolutely delicious. The char siu was very tender, and the broth was rich and flavorful. No wonder it’s Fukuoka, the birthplace of Ichiran Ramen! If you come to Fukuoka, you absolutely must try Ichiran Ramen! It was so delicious that I drank all the broth, and even the bottom of the bowl was pentagonal! After finishing my Ichiran Ramen, I realized how delicious the ramen I’d waited in line for an hour was. I think Ichiran Ramen is reasonably priced, and you can still taste the rich, pork bone flavor of tonkotsu ramen. The best part is that this is the only officially certified ramen in all of Japan, which is super special. If you come to Dazaifu, you absolutely must try it! Now that we ‘re full, let’s play with the Ichiran Ramen gashapon machine. There are four different designs. What will we get? What ‘s this? What’s this? I got this! The Ichiran logo! Oh, that’s awful ! The signboard! Hahaha, it even has lights on! Looks like it’s not as bad as I thought . What did I get? Wow! I got a whole set of ramen! So lucky! Seating area, do you want to share your thoughts? This is my least favorite. How do we get to Dazaifu? You can take the Nishitetsu from Tenjin or a bus from the airport to Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station. The Ichiran Dazaifu Omotesando store is right next to the station. On the way to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, you’ll pass the Dazaifu Omotesando Starbucks . We’ve finished eating and there’s the sacred beef and the Taiko Bridge. Now it’s starting to drizzle. Since we brought some elders with us , it might not be suitable to go up to Kamado Shrine again. We were originally planning to take that bus up to Kamado Shrine . Kamado Shrine is very special; it has many similarities to Demon Slayer. For example, Tanjiro and the others share the surname Kamado, and the author of Demon Slayer was born in Fukuoka. Some people say that perhaps Kamado Shrine was the inspiration the author drew for Demon Slayer. Now we need to go back to the city. Because we’re going back to Tenjin city , we won’t take the bus; we ‘ll take the Nishitetsu train directly . To get to Futakashi, take the Nishitetsu Gojo Station to Futakashi Station, then transfer to the Tenjin-Omuta Line for five stops to reach Tenjin, the most bustling area in Fukuoka. Now we’ve arrived at our hotel for today, the Hakata Gofuku Hotel. This Hakata Gofuku Hotel is unmanned , so it’s cheaper because it’s a holiday and all the hotels in the city are too expensive. Since there are ten of us , we booked two executive suites (the largest one). You need to enter a password to open the door; check-in and check-out are done by ourselves. Check-in is done using the ID we received in the email . Now we’re inside our hotel. It’s not… After entering , there’s an L-shaped sofa and a huge Sony TV— perfect for watching Netflix at night with snacks or late-night meals. There’s also a large tatami room with two double beds ; this tatami room alone can accommodate four people. There’s another separate four-person room connected by a sliding door, so a total of eight people can stay in one room. It has its own small kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, sink, and an IH stove. There are also many cups inside. This is a smart toilet ; it opens and pops open automatically as soon as you enter. The bathroom has two sinks , a washing machine, and a heater . The bathroom was spacious enough that you wouldn’t feel cold while showering ; it was huge, even the showerhead had a hairdryer, and the fact that it had a Panasonic hairdryer was a plus. Fukuoka is great in every way, except their weekend hotel rooms are incredibly expensive. The rooms we found were around 4,000-5,000 NTD per person because we needed a comfortable room, as we had elderly relatives with us. This room could accommodate eight people, but we only had five, so it cost us over 3,000 NTD per person . However, if you have a full group of eight, it’s only around 2,000 NTD per person , which is quite good value for money in Fukuoka during the weekend. Although it’s an unmanned hotel and you have to check in yourself… However , the hotel has everything you could need. How do you get to Hakata Gofuku Hotel? You can take the Hakozaki Subway Line to Gofukucho Station or the Airport Line to Gion Station, both within a ten-minute walk. After visiting Kushida Shrine, we were in Kawabata-dori Shopping Street when we noticed that many shops nearby had long queues. But since we had ten people, we randomly picked a popular bar with no queue: Gyoza no Tacchan. Cheers! Now let’s eat their gyoza! Wow, you can even hear the crispy sound ! It’s really quite delicious , but the filling packets inside are a bit small. I think a small plate like this would be devoured in no time , but it’s actually very cheap, right? It’s very cheap! The tuna sashimi is only ¥1200, less than NT$ 200 , which is worth the price. I’ll try it. The tuna is okay, the sashimi isn’t as amazing as gourd sushi, but it’s worth the price. However, I didn’t think the peach soda cocktail was very good; it was just average and didn’t have much flavor. But the plum wine was amazing, with a very rich plum wine flavor. On the fourth day in Fukuoka, we continued exploring the suburbs. We were heading to Oita Prefecture early in the morning to see the Kokonoe Yume Bridge, the tallest bridge in Japan, and Beppu Jigokudani (Hell Valley). Since we had a large group, we went straight there… Choosing a private car not only allows for customized itineraries but is also more suitable for seniors. I’ve included the link in the information section to share with everyone. Since we’ll be staying at a hot spring hotel in Yufuin that night , we asked the driver to take our large luggage to the hotel for our last night. Of course, I also wrote to the hotel beforehand to inquire if we could store our luggage there. After storing our luggage , we’ll take a car for about two hours to the Kokonoe Yume Bridge. The next must-see attraction in Fukuoka is the Kokonoe Yume Bridge. This Kokonoe Yume Bridge is the highest suspension bridge in Japan , standing at 173 meters tall , taller than Godzilla. Before the Mishima Suspension Bridge in Shizuoka was built in 2015, it was also the longest suspension bridge at 390 meters . What’s most impressive is that it was built with 2 billion yen raised by the public. We’ve already bought our tickets for the Kokonoe Dream Suspension Bridge. It’s special; each ticket has a different design, showing different seasonal scenery. This one is free (commemorative photo) , or you can buy a ticket for ¥1500. Why is it called Kokonoe Dream? Because the bridge is located in Kokonoe Town, Oita Prefecture. Kokonoe is the place name, and Dream is the name chosen through a public ballot of 5,890 names , representing everyone’s hopes for the future. Ticket revenue will go towards medical subsidies for junior high school students and below in Kokonoe Town , making it a bridge that unites the community. The bridge, built with the centripetal force of the earth, makes you feel the unity of the local residents. Wow, I’m on the bridge now! The scenery here is so beautiful! Over there, you can see vast primeval forests with all sorts of colors— yellow, red, green —and a touch of dreaminess. There’s mist floating up here , making the whole thing look incredibly dreamy. On this side , you can see two huge waterfalls , including the Zhen Shi Falls , one of Japan’s 100 most famous waterfalls. On the other side, you can see the Kujukei Gorge and Mount Aso in the distance. The scenery is amazing! I think the Kujukei Bridge is incredible; it’s very high and long. I thought it would sway a lot, but it’s incredibly stable. It’s probably the most stable suspension bridge I’ve ever crossed. I never expected it to be so stable, which is why I’m afraid of heights and swaying. Don’t worry, you can come up to the middle of the bridge. It also has an open design that lets you see what’s underneath. You can test your courage here and get a free poster of the Kokonoe Yume Bridge. Don’t forget to browse the souvenir shops too! After that, we’ll drive to Beppu. Beppu has over 2,000 hot springs and was once voted the second most beautiful Japanese landscape to preserve in the 21st century in a Japanese poll . Next, a must-see in Fukuoka is the Hell Baths (Hell Eight Hot Springs). The Hell Baths consist of eight different volcanic hot spring pools, each with different minerals , resulting in various colors. Now I’m in the Hell Baths! Look at the largest Sea Hell! The steam is incredibly exaggerated and breathtaking ! Because it’s rich in ferric sulfate , it has a deep blue color, just like the sea. The smoke-filled Sea Hell is absolutely spectacular! There are also some red torii gates nearby. You can go up to the second floor for a clearer view . The souvenir shop at the Sea Hell has tons of things to browse. They even have Red Oni and Blue Oni! Two adorable little hell demons ! And a Beppu Hell Shiba Inu! So cute! They also have various magnets , even towels and clothes. The Paradise Buns are tiny! In Conan episode 851, Kogoro Mouri was eating these Paradise Buns with red bean filling … It’s so small, not quite enough to eat. The advantage of hiring a car is that there are too many people at the Sea Hell, and the car can’t fit them all. We arranged a time with the driver, and he came back to pick us up when the time came. Because we were short on time, we couldn’t visit all eight hells, so we chose two of the most famous ones : the Sea Hell and the Blood Pool Hell. The Blood Pool Hell is blood red because it’s rich in iron oxide , and with the steam behind it, it really gives you a feeling of being in hell. It’s very similar to the hells I read about in books when I was a child. The ticket is a postcard, which is very special. You can take it back as a souvenir or write it to yourself. The Blood Pool Hell is very similar to hell. There are also… Next to the photo with the ghost is a hot-blooded one , and behind it is a foot bath. To get to the Kokonoe Yume Suspension Bridge , Beppu Sea Hell , and Blood Pond Hell, public transportation is inconvenient, so we recommend hiring a car or calling a taxi. Last episode, we visited popular suburban attractions in Fukuoka, including Dazaifu, Tenmangu Shrine, Kokonoe Yume Bridge , and Beppu’s Eight Hell Baths . This episode, we’re going to Yufuin, Kyushu’s most beautiful hot spring town, to see the Yunotsubo Street , eat lots of delicious food , visit the dreamy Kinrin Lake , stay overnight at a hot spring hotel in Yufuin, and finally take the popular sightseeing train, Yufuin no Mori, back to Hakata. Let’s continue exploring what Fukuoka has to offer! Let’s go! Last episode, after visiting Beppu’s Eight Hell Baths, we asked our driver to take us directly to our hotel to drop off our luggage. After that, we could easily explore Yufuin! The next must-see attraction in Fukuoka is the Yunotsubo Street. Yunopei Street has a great atmosphere and a very artistic vibe. Both sides are lined with souvenir shops, local product shops , and all sorts of delicious food. At the end of Yunopei Street, you can also see a very beautiful street leading to Mount Yufu. How to get to Yunopei Street? From Yufuin Station, walk straight to B-Speak and then turn right. Now, a must-try dessert shop in Yunopei is this: Juchi Dorayaki ! Juchi Dorayaki’s strawberry filling is huge! Let’s try it and see if it’s good! We bought the strawberry flavor. It has so many big strawberries on top! Wow, it has a rich taro paste filling, a creamy base , and a huge strawberry on top . It tastes so good! I want some too ! I want to eat it first! I really want some! Dipping it in red bean paste creates a multi-layered texture that’s amazing! The dorayaki skin is soft and fluffy… The dorayaki is soft and fluffy , not too hard or too dry. The outer skin is also slightly crispy, making it a perfect combination of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Remember to buy from the Yufuin Yunotsubo shop, Marichi Dorayaki ! How to get to Marichi? At the beginning of Yunotsubo Street, on the right side, you’ll see a long queue – that’s Marichi! Now, let’s eat at Kijiro Nakatsu Fried Chicken. It’s a very famous fried chicken shop in Oita. Oita is famous for its fried chicken. I had the chicken cartilage flavor; you can hear a crispy crunch when you bite into it. The freshly fried chicken is incredibly fragrant and delicious! Wow, it’s even smoking! Did you take a picture? Can’t you? Anyway, it ‘s smoking! The yuzu pepper flavor has a subtle yuzu aroma, very fragrant. I think it’s the first time I’ve had yuzu pepper flavored fried chicken; it’s very unique. How do I get to Kigo Nakatsu Chicken? Just a little further ahead from Michi will take you to the next must-see attraction in Fukuoka: Yufuin Flower Village. Yufuin Flower Village features European-style architecture and is quite cute , unlike the typical Japanese streets. There’s an owl zoo here. We went in, and they said you can touch the owls, but only with the back of your hand, and only their backs. I wanted to touch one! Wow, it’s my first time touching an owl! Its feathers are so soft and smooth! So cute! This owl is huge , and it has a “beginner” sign telling you not to touch it. You can also see snowy owls here! That’s the snowy owl Harry Potter kept! Wow, I can’t believe I saw it so close! It kept smiling at me! This snowy owl is so cute ! I can get so close! Seeing these owls up close was a first for me , but honestly, I felt a little sorry for them because they were tied to the trees like that, since they couldn’t fly freely. I think it’s more humane to see them in a zoo where they have more space to roam. However, the staff there were quite attentive , feeding them and cleaning up their droppings. Whether you want to come or not is up to you. How to get to Yufuin Flower Village? Walk to the back of Yunotsubo Street, near Lake Kinrin. After visiting Yufuin Flower Village, we walked back to Yunotsubo Street to see what good food there was. Yufuin’s strawberries are big and cheap! Next, we’ll have some milch. Milch is another must-try dessert shop in Yufuin. It’s easily recognizable by its large red mailbox at the entrance. Milch is famous for its pudding and hot cheesecake with a molten lava filling. Let’s try the pudding first ! It’s quite delicious— it melts in your mouth, with a smooth and creamy texture. A touch of caramel — wow, amazing ! Super delicious! Now let’s try the hot cheesecake with a molten lava filling. Wow, its texture is so soft and fluffy ! So delicious! It’s really delicious! The molten cheese filling inside… Oh my! This is amazing! The cheese flavor is so rich and delicious! How do I get to Milk? Milk is just across from Juji . Once you find Juji, you’ll find Milk. Next, head to the Yufuin Museum of Art. It was designed by the renowned architect Kengo Kuma. The road to the museum is also very beautiful. The museum, nestled in the mountains, is truly therapeutic. Unfortunately, we arrived too late and it was already closed, so we strolled around the streets of Yufuin and took some photos. Now, let’s have our dinner. Yufuin is a must-try! Yufu Kamameshi (rice bowl) has two branches. One is the main branch near Lake Kinrin where we’re staying, and the other is right outside the station. Since the main branch closes at 5:30 PM , and it’s almost 5:30, we’re eating at this branch. We’ll be eating our Kamameshi in three ways (experiencing different ways to eat it). First, we’ll try the original flavor , and then the second way is with condiments. There’s also adding their side dishes, and the third way is to add the whole broth to make ochazuke (rice with tea). I used a little bit first to try the original flavor. We started with the chicken . Today we ordered one chicken and one beef. How was the chicken? I thought it was very fragrant, with that barbecue flavor , really! It had a charcoal aroma. Actually, the chicken was even better than I expected because it’s famous for Bungo beef . Yes, I thought the chicken would be okay, but it was actually quite good. The chicken meat was very tender, and the charcoal aroma was great. The second way to eat it is to mix the sauce and the side dishes together. It’s like a barbecue bibimbap, with a bit of a side dish, like Korean bibimbap. But I think you might have added too much sauce ; it was a bit too spicy. Really, or maybe it was something I ate, but I thought it was a bit spicy and salty. I prefer the original flavor. Maybe there was too much soy sauce. Please season as needed, don’t add too much . Okay, now I’m going to eat the beef. Only I can eat beef. The beef is very tender , and it goes well with the kamameshi (rice cooked in a clay pot). There’s also a little bit of crispy rice at the bottom of the pot. Eating the two together, mmm~ delicious , no wonder everyone lines up . Okay, now I’m going to try the second way: add sauce and side dishes. I added a yuzu pepper sauce and tried it. I still prefer the original flavor of the kamameshi. The aroma of the rice isn’t overwhelmed by the side dishes and seasonings. The third way is to add the broth, which is a bit like ochazuke (rice with tea). It’s not bad, just not as salty. But I think you would like the most original way. The ochazuke is also good , but I really like the original flavor the most. I can taste the rice grains separately , and there’s a little bit of crispy rice at the bottom . You can drink the ochazuke with the broth, and you can also enjoy the aroma of the broth. Overall, I think this restaurant is better than I expected. For an even better experience, I recommend avoiding peak hours, otherwise the wait will be very long. How to get to Yufu Kamago Onishon? Exit from Yufuin Station, the first few shops on the left are the Yufu Kamago Onishon Station front shop. This is the onsen hotel we’ll be staying at in Yufuin , Yufuin UBL. We’ve now arrived at the UBL Onsen Hotel. The entrance is very spacious . Then we went into the room, which is very Japanese-style. There are tatami mats , and our bed has already been made up for us. Next to the tatami mats, there are small tables and chairs where you can sit and work or chat. There’s also a Japanese-style mural and a small TV. I think the best part is the more comfortable tatami area by the window. The dressing table is also very Japanese-style. The wardrobe has yukatas (light cotton robes) that we can wear when we go to the onsen. And below is the mini-fridge in the refrigerator. The bar is chargeable , but what I found really thoughtful was that they already had hot water installed, so if you want to make tea, you can immediately enjoy a hot cup. I thought the windows were huge; if we had come earlier, the sunlight streaming in would have been amazing. Tomorrow morning, we’ll see what the morning view is like . The restrooms are divided into two sections : a shower and a bathtub, and a separate toilet for each section , creating a wet-dry separation. Next must-see in Fukuoka is Lake Kinrin. Lake Kinrin is a small lake full of mystery. In the early morning or during autumn and winter, mist rises from the lake, creating a hazy and dreamlike atmosphere . It’s also known as the most romantic lake in Kyushu . It’s a pity the wind was so strong today that the morning fog wasn’t very noticeable. But if there were fog, this place would be incredibly dreamy. However, because of the strong wind today , the ripples on the water were even more pronounced . Combined with the golden sunlight, the shimmering surface looked like golden fish scales, hence the name Kinrin Lake (Golden Scale Lake) . How do you get to Kinrin Lake? It’s a 5-minute walk from the Yufuin UBL Hotel. Okay, now I’ll share our experience of staying one night at the Yufuin UBL Onsen Hotel. I thought the rooms were really spacious , and all had Japanese tatami mats, giving it a very Japanese feel. In the morning, we sat by the window and could see Mount Yufu! Sitting here, drinking tea, enjoying the scenery, and relaxing… The morning was very pleasant , and if you’re staying overnight in Yufuin, you’ll definitely want to visit Lake Kinrin in the morning . It’s only a 5-minute walk from here, which is very convenient. After visiting Lake Kinrin , we went to the lobby to have some free coffee and leisurely listen to the music. It was very relaxing. Since everyone traveling abroad is usually quite tiring , soaking in the hot springs and enjoying the open-air bath in the evening to relieve fatigue is a great idea. If you’re planning to stay overnight in Yufuin, you can consider this hotel. How to get to the Yufuin UBL Hotel? You can hire a car like we did , or take the hotel’s free shuttle bus from Yufuin Station. After checking out, we took the hotel’s free shuttle bus, which took about 5 minutes to reach Yufuin Station. Yufuin truly lives up to its reputation! It was voted the number one tourist attraction by Japanese office ladies . You can see such a beautiful street as soon as you exit the station . There’s a hand bath right outside the station; it’s so hot because it’s cold ! It warms you up instantly, which is amazing! We took the Yufuin no Mori train at noon, so we had some time to eat some more Yufuin food. Look at this crab stick stall; there’s a long line! Let’s try it. Now we’re going to eat crab legs ! Wow, they’re huge! Such a big one for only 500 yen! It seems like they’re synthetic, which is great! Yes, they’re synthetic , but they’re still quite delicious. The outer skin is slightly seared. Even synthetic crab sticks in Taiwan can’t be found this big. NT$100 each. This street stall doesn’t have Google Maps. Maps landmarks can directly navigate to H to SAR parking lot , it’s right next door. Next, we walked to Yunotsubo Street to eat Golden Prize Croquettes. One Golden Prize Croquette costs 200 yen. The croquette has quite a lot of filling and a hint of black pepper , but overall it’s just average. I think fried chicken would be a better choice. I think it’s about time, so we walked back to Yufuin Station to catch the next must-see attraction in Fukuoka: the Yufuin no Mori train . The Yufuin no Mori is a super popular sightseeing train that you absolutely must ride when you come to Fukuoka. The entire train is green, giving us a feeling of being in nature. The train arrives at the station early to allow for photos. The interior of the carriages uses a lot of wood, making the overall space classic and unique. There are also four-seater trains with tables in the middle. There are also many souvenirs from the Yufuin no Mori sold on board . The train staff’s clothes and hats are also available for photos. And the popular B-Speak raw milk roll (we didn’t try it because we were too full in Yufuin). We bought a bento box on the train, but unfortunately, the taste was just so-so . It’s a great sightseeing train experience to watch the conductor drive the train from the front; the scenery along the way is beautiful. We’ve already returned from Yufuin to Hakata, and now we’re going to buy the famous mentaiko bread, Full Full. Today we’re eating at the Tenjin branch ; this one doesn’t have a queue. We’ve already bought their mentaiko bread! Wow, so much mentaiko! Let’s eat one right away . It’s freshly baked and piping hot, so we ate it right away! It’s so delicious! The outer layer is super crispy , and the inside is soft bread with lots of mentaiko— it’s amazing! I think Full Full ‘s bread is even better than Flavor Field at Kaohsiung Arena . Everyone who comes to Fukuoka must remember to buy this mentaiko bread! How to get to Full Full? Take the subway to Tenjin Station and exit from West Exit 1. Now we’ve arrived at today’s hotel. Today’s hotel is Cross. The rooms at the Life Cross Life Hakata Tenjin Hotel are quite new , featuring a combination of wood and dark green , giving them a sophisticated feel. The hallways are very wide, and the desks are arranged along the window , allowing for excellent natural light. The room size is also quite large, with a large double bed. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, and the shower has a showerhead, which is a nice touch. While the hotel provides a showerhead, the hairdryer is a medium-sized Panasonic, not as good as the one we had at the Hakata Kimono Hotel, which had adjustable temperature and modes , but it was still decent. There’s a supermarket and convenience store downstairs, so I think its location is its biggest advantage. It’s very close to Canal City Hakata and Kushida Shrine , and the subway station is about a 5-6 minute walk away. I’m sharing this with you all if you’re planning to stay in Tenjin, you might want to consider this hotel. How to get to the Life Cross Life Hakata Tenjin Hotel: Take the subway to Tenjin South Station, Exit 6, and it’s a 6-minute walk from Fukuoka. For our last dinner, we went to Eel Eight, a restaurant specializing in eel . Eel Eight has a clean and comfortable dining environment with very Japanese-style decor and a sophisticated feel . (Google) The eel rice bowl (maps) has an incredibly high rating of 4.9 stars. You can add cheese, and there’s even a spectacular eel-grilling show! Before even tasting it, I was amazed by the flames melting the cheese, making it look even more delicious. I ordered a small set, while the larger set included both beef and eel . The beef was alright, but wow, the eel was practically smoking! The eel was quite tender, much tastier than the beef, so definitely remember to order it. If you order the smaller set, which doesn’t include beef, that’s perfectly fine , but the portion is smaller. The crispy rice crust is incredibly crunchy; remember to let it grill a little after it’s served, as it’s much tastier than the condiments at Yufuin’s Kamameshi. This chili sauce is absolutely amazing! Look how incredibly delicious the chili sauce is! The aroma is slightly sweet and spicy , but not overpowering. Now let’s have dessert – pudding! The pudding is quite good; it’s very smooth and creamy , with mochi inside, creating a multi-layered texture , much like a dessert shop’s pudding. This whole shop is quite refined; it not only provides exquisite food but also a visual feast. They even light a flame and then brush cheese on it. However, if you prefer cheap and large portions, you might not be full. We’ll grab some supermarket snacks later. After finishing the eel, it’ll be almost 8 PM. You can walk to the nearby Fukuoka Ichiran Main Store. This entire building is the original Ichiran Ramen store; there’s a performance every night at 8 PM – it’s really special! Don’t miss it if you’re in Fukuoka! How to get there? Eel Eighth, you can walk to either Nakasu-Kawabata Station or Kushida-shrine-mae Station on the subway . To get to Ichiran’s main store , just walk along the river . We’ll leave our last day in Fukuoka for shopping for souvenirs. In the morning, we’ll explore Tenjin, and in the afternoon, we’ll take the elders for a walk, have coffee, visit an art museum and a Japanese garden in Ohori Park. For lunch, we randomly picked a roadside eatery, which was quite good, reasonably priced, and very satisfying. Fukuoka’s food is truly amazing; almost everything we ate these past few days was great . Now we’ve arrived at Fukuoka Airport! This six-day, five-night trip to Fukuoka truly makes it a culinary capital. The food is incredibly delicious , and compared to Tokyo and Osaka , it’s much less crowded, making it perfect for those who dislike crowds and urban feel. It’s also easy to explore Fukuoka city with elders . Fukuoka is only a two-hour flight from Taiwan, and the airport is just 15 minutes from the city center , making it very convenient and ideal for a quick trip. That concludes our Fukuoka trip sharing. I hope you enjoyed it ! I’ve also included all the useful discount and ticket purchase links in the information section. See you next time! Bye-bye!
