【京都グルメ】地元民おすすめランチ10選/京都旅行観光| Kyoto Food Guide, Japan

Hello everyone. This is Sawa-cham from the Kyoto Gourmet Research Institute. This time, we’re introducing 10 recommended lunch spots in Kyoto for the autumn foliage season. From historic restaurants to the local favorite, Ayaba Lunch, these are recommended for both Kyoto residents and tourists . Please watch until the end. This channel broadcasts Kyoto gourmet. If you love Kyoto, please subscribe and become a fellow researcher. Our first Kyoto gourmet round: We’ll introduce lunch in the Otoichiba area, a popular tourist destination in Kyoto . Grill Fukuya, a 40-year-old restaurant in Meiji . Close to Nihonichiba Station and Gojo Station , it’s the perfect luxurious lunch spot for sightseeing . Because it’s such a famous restaurant, the shelves are covered in signs, proving its popularity . And here is our signature Fukuya Rice. Look at this gorgeous visual. Underneath a soft-boiled egg is ketchup rice with plenty of tomatoes, ham, mushrooms, and more. It’s a perfect match. The fluffy egg, light ketchup rice, and the refreshing acidity of the diced tomatoes create a perfect accent. This is truly a super special omelet lunch. If you’re craving omelet rice, please hit the like button and leave a comment saying it’s irresistible. Researchers craving a Kyoto-style omelet rice should definitely visit Grill Clothing Shop . Our second Kyoto gourmet challenge is Umaiyanrin. This Japanese restaurant offers the best value for money. I highly recommend this Japanese restaurant to researchers visiting Kyoto . Before going, I was a bit nervous about the price, thinking it would be too expensive, but once inside, I was put at ease by the friendly service . They offer both tatami rooms and counter seating. Whether you’re dining alone or with a group , you can relax and unwind. The lunch menu looks like this. The menu changes in the evening. The sashimi and tempura set meal is definitely something you should try . It comes with tempura and sashimi for 1,300 yen. This is the best value for money lunch in Miyagawacho. Other lunch items include tempura don, fried chicken, and chicken number. The prices are reasonable. The food arrived promptly. The sashimi and tempura set meal was 1,300 yen. The side dishes are plentiful. I always order the same thing when I come here . It consists of sashimi and tempura. This is served with tempura or matcha soup. Next to it is clear soup. The fact that it’s clear soup instead of miso soup really lifts the spirits . It also comes with small basil, rice, and pickles . Draft beer with ginger is only 300 yen during lunchtime. Cheers to Tamachi. This is Anaha Lunch, a favorite among locals. Definitely give it a try. Next, we head from Yagami Shrine toward Seimitsu-ji Temple, but before that, I’d like to introduce a spot to view the autumn leaves . This is Maruyama Park. Maruyama Park is the site of Kyoto’s oldest historical site, established in 1886 (Meiji 19). While the night cherry blossoms of Gion are famous during the cherry blossom season, the autumn foliage season is also spectacular. This is a highly recommended spot for those who want to avoid the crowds around Gion. If you’re tired from walking, this is a great place to take a relaxing break. This is my third Kyoto gourmet adventure. I’d like to introduce a hidden lunch spot near Yasaka Shrine’s Maruyama Park: Osaka Sakuryori Taira. This new Japanese restaurant, which just opened in March 2024 , is easy to miss if you pass by without noticing, but it offers both lunch and dinner. The bright interior offers table seating, counter seating, and a tatami room in the back, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing meal whether you’re dining alone or with a group . Above all, the friendly and welcoming service from the staff is charming . I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Kyoto. Today, I’m in the mood for pork shogayaki. It’s 1,500 yen. It ‘s pork shogayaki with a fried egg. This fried egg has a creamy texture. It also comes with a colorful salad. You can choose between white rice or the daily special seasoned rice. Today’s dish is scallop rice. Free refills are a great thing for a foodie . It also comes with three different kinds of side dishes. Today’s soup is oily. It was so delicious I decided to order it again. The dish I had was chicken tempura maze. It was truly a special egg lunch. The filling was so delicious I was completely full. I was very satisfied. If you’re in Kyoto, I highly recommend checking it out . Next up is Kyoto lunch near Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Chikaramochi Shokudo Kato Shokuten, a retro Showa-era diner perfect for a stop between sightseeing trips. I visited looking for a cheap and delicious lunch, and it turned out to be a wonderful restaurant far beyond my expectations. Both the exterior and interior of the restaurant exude a nostalgic atmosphere. The main character of the film “Yu,” which was based on the battle of the 4th, appeared as the diner on the 4th. I was able to watch it on Amazon Prime, so I recommend watching the film before visiting. The menu is extensive. It’s cold today, so I’d like to order something warm. It’s arrived. The beef bowl (beef simmered rice bowl) is a mere 800 yen. Even for two people, it’s only 1,600 yen. That’s super cheap. The toppings are melt-in-your-mouth beef tendon and flavorful green onions. The thin, soft udon noodles are smooth and easy to swallow, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the plum. The beef tendon is so tender it melts in your mouth, and the umami spreads throughout your mouth. If you’re craving beef tendon udon, I’d be happy if you left a comment of support. If you’re sightseeing in Kyoto for the past 25 years, be sure to stop by Nittaiji Temple. It’s located on the way to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. It’s a temple with 22 members. Press the intercom next to the main road and you’ll be warmly welcomed. You can also get a cute snake-shaped amulet and a shrine. Yes. It’s said that stroking it will bring you good fortune. It’s located on the main road, so be sure to get used to it when you visit Nittaiji Temple. It really energized me. The staff were very kind and taught me a lot. While the area around Kiyomizu-dera Temple is crowded with tourists, Nittaiji Temple was a quiet place to relax and refresh your mind and body. I highly recommend it. Whether you live in Kyoto or are planning a trip to Kyoto, this is a must-visit. Yes. This is Fumiya, located in the Nishiichiba area. Established 21 years ago, it’s known as a renowned udon restaurant , with its especially popular fumbe (fumibe). When I visited around noon on a recent Saturday, there was already a long line outside, and I waited about 30 minutes before entering the restaurant. The menu looked like this. If it’s your first time at Fumiya, be sure to research their fuya nabe . It’s absolutely delicious. I ordered the most popular dish, the fumbe nabe. It cost 880 yen. The udon, served in a hot pot, had an appetizing aroma of dashi broth. As you can see from the video, it was quite hot, so I broke out in a sweat while eating it, even though it was winter. Those with sensitive tongues might want to consider it. The ingredients are plentiful, including shiitake mushrooms, rice cakes, shrimp, egg, kamaboko, nasu (fish cake), and green onions. The moment I saw the runny egg, I knew I wanted to eat it right away. The udon was just the right softness and paired perfectly with the dashi broth. The broth, in particular, is rich in flavor and mildly seasoned. I couldn’t help but drink it all. I added some red chimi (seaweed) midway through to change the flavor. The special tama-ma-ranch is complete. If you’re interested in trying it, please comment and say “lunch.” If you’re visiting Kyoto, be sure to check out the tama -nabe (fuminabe)! Yado is a Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy Kyoto’s unique o-manzai (rice cake) at an affordable price. If it’s your first time, be sure to check out o-manzai . Upon entering, you’ll find a relaxing atmosphere with counter and table seating, perfect for both solo and group dining. And here’s the great value o-manzai (rice cake) option, which includes dessert and a drink after your meal. It’s only 1,360 yen. The colorful o-manzai dishes are made with seasonal ingredients, including fresh tempura. The dishes themselves are as exciting as opening a treasure chest. Of particular note is the glossy rice, carefully cooked in a ka-style pot. The natural sweetness and aroma of the rice fills your mouth. This is an ultra-special tama-ranch. The dessert for the day was an elegant matcha cheesecake, perfect for a post-meal break . Its reasonable price makes it a comfortable choice for Kyoto residents. Its convenient location within the prefecture, even from outside Kyoto, makes it an attractive option. If you’re unsure where to have lunch while sightseeing in Kyoto, be sure to check out Ni-ya Hokudohan. It’s a sister restaurant in Kyoto Ichiba Ward Oto, which opened in December 2012. It ‘s called Itoriichi. The Kyomachi area, located between Kyoto City Hall and the Imperial Palace, has a lovely exterior. When it’s your turn, you’ll be called by waving. This Kyoto-style restaurant, renovated from a former Comica building, has a kitchen counter and table seating on the first floor. There are also table seats on the second floor. It’s a convenient restaurant for both single and multiple guests . This is lunch. If you’re visiting Itoriichi or Itoriichi for the first time, try their specialty I-jiru. They also served a lightly salted dish. This was my first time here, so I’ll explore the restaurant’s specialties . Their specialty Ibutoriichi is 1,485 yen including tax. The fragrant aroma will whet your appetite with just one bite. The chicken is incredibly tender and packed with flavor, and the more you chew, the more the umami spreads throughout your mouth. The crunchy green onions add a special texture to the freshly grilled tuna . The Hiden sauce is quite strong, but it pairs perfectly with the tuna and rice, making it a delicious accompaniment. Even if you normally opt for lighter flavors, this one is sure to become your favorite. Adding an egg makes it even more delicious. This is a hearty and satisfying special tuna lunch. It also comes with soup and pickles, which is a nice touch. This is Matsunoya. I’d like to introduce a recent, delicious dish I tried. This is a large, famous set meal restaurant. It’s affordable and delicious, making it a favorite among the common people. It has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. It’s always bustling, frequented by students from other universities, foreign tourists, and locals. See the menu here. The prices are budget-friendly. I often visit because it’s affordable and delicious. This warm, winter-themed beef stew set meal is a fall/winter special. It’s priced at 1,350 yen. It was brought to me in a piping hot pot. Just the sight of it warms me up. This set meal is sure to make you want to eat more rice . The melting egg, beef, and vegetables intertwine, filling my mouth with delicious flavor . This set meal is sure to leave me full. Be sure to also try the Katsu Curry Udon. It’s 1,000 yen. This luxurious dish features piping hot curry udon topped with a generous amount of crispy , juicy pork cutlet. The chewy texture of the udon is irresistible. The bowl is filled with so much udon that it’s hard to pick it up with chopsticks. The curry has just the right amount of spiciness, warming me up. The yakisoba is also incredibly delicious. This is a set meal restaurant with many recommended menu items. I highly recommend it for anyone living in Kyoto or planning a trip to Kyoto . Be sure to check it out. is a recommended lunch spot near Kyoto Station. This restaurant offers the best value for money. It’s located in Ichimae, just east of Kyoto Station . A Kyoto-style, Japanese-style atmosphere. A relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto Station. A lunch spot known only to those in the know. With a wide selection of alcohol, this izakaya is perfect for a night out. The lunch menu looks like this. All the standard daily specials are available for 1,000 yen. There ‘s also a wide variety of side dishes. Today’s daily special was tempura. The selection is huge. I had the daily special. Today’s set came with tempura, shrimp, crab, shaved ice, chiwa, eggplant, and various small scallops. Having tempura for lunch is a luxury, and the price is amazing. My final recommendation: Kyoto Gourmet 5,000th visit. Miko Kyoto Porta branch. A curry udon restaurant founded in Kyoto. A popular spot with long lines. Located near Kyoto Station, it’s recommended for lunch or as a refreshment while sightseeing in Kyoto. I often go there after work. The menu boasts a wide variety of dashi (soy sauce) of the day. They also offer a wide variety of dishes other than curry udon, such as udon made with Kyoto’s local vegetable, bitter green onion . Here’s the curry udon menu. Today’s curry udon was “Kitsu Curry Udon.” It was absolutely delicious. There’s such a wide variety, it’s hard to choose. This is a must-try dish when you visit Kyoto. It’s the white curry udon. It costs 1,320 yen. The design changes with the seasons. Currently, it’s the autumn leaves curry udon. I really love this design. The white part is potato mousse. Beneath it is curry udon with beef fat. This white potato mousse has a fluffy texture, and at first, it felt like I was drinking farmed soup . This new texture is addictive. This is just my personal opinion, but when comparing white curry udon to regular curry udon, the white curry udon seemed less spicy. It had a smooth texture. This is the strong fried fox curry udon. It’s 1,100 yen. It’s a thick curry udon with a thick sauce. Definitely give it a try on a cold day. Curry udon is a bit heavy, though. The perfect dish for such an occasion is the udon noodles with green onions and chicken. It costs 980 yen. The light broth, typical of Kyoto, goes well with the thin udon noodles. This special dish will whet your appetite with the flavor of Kyoto’s traditional vegetable green onions and tender chicken. Please give it a try. Thank you for watching until the end.
