【4K】超自然の先の永遠へ 横山氏庭園・三重県菰野町 Yokoyama Family Garden 日本庭園 Japanese garden
昭和を代表する作庭家、重森三玲（1896～1975年）が手がけた名庭。表庭の枯山水は、白砂を敷き詰めた大海に舟石が浮かぶ。舟が向かう先は、苔（こけ）で覆われた低い築山で、不老不死の仙人が住む蓬萊山を象徴している。68年に完成した庭は、重森が円熟期を迎えた晩年の作だ。特に舟石は美しく力強い形をしており、重森自身も「京都・大仙院庭園のものに匹敵する」とお気に入りだった。

This is a masterful garden designed by Mirei Shigemori (1896–1975), one of the leading garden designers of the Showa era. The karesansui (dry landscape) in the front garden features a “boat stone” floating in a vast ocean of white sand. The boat is directed toward a low, moss-covered hill, which symbolizes Mount Horai—the mythical island of immortal hermits. Completed in 1968, this garden is a late-career masterpiece representing Shigemori’s artistic maturity. The boat stone, in particular, possesses a beautiful and powerful form; Shigemori himself was highly fond of it, remarking that it “rivals the one at the Daisen-in Garden in Kyoto.”
