どこから来て、どこへ行くのか。
この一滴は、30年の旅の途中かもしれない。
ここは静岡県富士宮市、白糸の滝。
高さ約20m、幅約150mの湾曲した崖から、無数の水が白糸のように流れ落ちています。
富士山には、大きな川がほとんどありません。
それなのに、これほどの水が絶えず湧き出ている。
その理由は、富士山の内部構造にあります。
雪解け水や雨水は、上部の水を通す「新富士火山層」をゆっくりと浸透し、
下部の水を通さない「古富士火山層」にぶつかることで、
その境界から湧き出し、この滝となって現れます。
一説には、ここに流れ落ちる一滴は、
約30年もの時をかけて地中を旅してきたとも言われています。
今、目の前にあるこの水も、
未来から届いた記憶なのかもしれません。
ここに美しき日本があります。

Where does it come from, and where does it go?
This single drop may still be on a 30-year journey.
This is Shiraito Falls in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka.
From a curved cliff about 20 meters high and 150 meters wide,
countless streams flow down like delicate white threads.
Mt. Fuji has almost no visible rivers.
Yet, an immense amount of water continuously emerges here.
The secret lies within the mountain itself.
Melted snow and rainwater slowly seep through the permeable layers of “New Fuji,”
until they reach the impermeable layers of “Old Fuji.”
At that boundary, the water springs out, forming these falls.
It is said that each drop may have traveled underground
for nearly 30 years before emerging here.
The water before your eyes now
may be a memory from the future.
