赤丸食堂は昭和20年（戦後すぐ）に創業した老舗定食屋です。
創業当時、店名の由来は「日章旗」の赤丸から。先々代が掲げた日章旗が、店の目印になったことがきっかけとのこと。
“安くて・美味しくて・量が多い”というスタイルが代々受け継がれており、復興期の人々の胃袋を満たす存在だったそうです。
かつては大阪港の労働者（港湾労働者）がよく訪れる定食屋だったという歴史があります。
地元密着型で、昔ながらの大衆食堂の風情。料理がボリューミーでコストパフォーマンスが高いので、ガテン系というか“働き盛り”層にも親しまれてきた感じが強いです。
昭和〜令和と変わらず「お腹いっぱい・笑顔いっぱい」を掲げており、地域に根づいた雰囲気があります。
赤丸食堂は オリックス・バファローズのファンが多く訪れるお店 として知られています。
“オリックスバファローズオフィシャル食堂”という呼ばれ方をすることがあり、本拠地が近く2軍施設も近いことから、野球観戦の前後にファンが立ち寄るスポットとしても認知されています。
1. 天保山チキンカツ定食
看板メニュー。厚めのチキンカツが5枚盛られており、かなりのボリューム。
ご飯は量が選べて、「マンガ盛り（超大盛り）」にすることも可能。マンガ盛りにすると大食いチャレンジ扱いになり、30分以内完食でプレゼントがもらえるという企画も。
“天保山”の名前は、お店から近い「天保山（人工の小さな山）」にちなんでいるそうです。
2. 豚々豚（とんとんとん）
豚肉を多彩に使った盛り合わせメニュー。焼き豚、ヘレカツ、豚天が一皿に乗っています。
特にヘレカツが好評で、地元のソース（「三晃ソース」）との相性が良いと評されています。
3. エビ系メニュー
“市岡海老蔵”と呼ばれる、海老フライ15尾が乗った定食など、海老を使ったデカ盛りメニューも。
“赤丸スーパードラゴン”という巨大エビフライも名物のひとつ。

Akamaro Shokudo is a long-established set-meal restaurant founded in 1945, right after World War II.
The origin of the restaurant’s name comes from the “red sun disc” of the Japanese national flag. The story goes that the red sun flag raised by the second-generation owner served as a landmark for the shop.
Its style of “cheap, delicious, and large portions” has been passed down through generations, and the restaurant is said to have filled the stomachs of people during the post-war reconstruction period.
In the past, the restaurant was popular among dockworkers at the Port of Osaka, giving it a deep connection to the local community. It has the nostalgic atmosphere of an old-school neighborhood eatery. With generous portions and great value, it has long been favored by working-class customers with hearty appetites.
From the Showa era to Reiwa, Akamaro Shokudo has remained committed to its motto: “full stomachs, full of smiles.” It maintains a warm, community-rooted presence.
Akamaro Shokudo is also known as a place frequently visited by Orix Buffaloes fans.
It is sometimes referred to as the “Official Dining Hall of the Orix Buffaloes,” since the team’s home stadium and their farm facility are nearby. It’s a popular stop for fans before and after baseball games.

1. Tenpozan Chicken Cutlet Set Meal
The restaurant’s signature dish. Five thick pieces of chicken cutlet are served on one plate—very large in portion size.
You can choose the amount of rice, and you can even order the “Manga Mori” (super-large portion). Choosing Manga Mori turns it into a food-challenge style meal; if you finish within 30 minutes, you receive a prize.
The name “Tenpozan” is inspired by the small artificial mountain located near the restaurant.
2. Tonton-Ton
A platter featuring various pork dishes—grilled pork, pork fillet cutlet, and pork tempura all on one plate.
The fillet cutlet is especially popular and is said to pair perfectly with the local “Sanko Sauce.”
3. Shrimp Dishes
There are also oversized shrimp dishes, such as the “Ichioka Ebi-zō,” which features 15 pieces of fried shrimp.
Another specialty is the “Akamaro Super Dragon,” a giant fried shrimp.
