Nakatsu Castle in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture is a water castle where seawater enters through a sluice gate and the water level of the moat rises and falls with the tides. Along with Takamatsu Castle and Imabari Castle, it is counted as one of Japan’s three great water castles.
