Hiroden 5000 Series “Green Mover” (Combino) – Arriving Hiroshima Stn (Route 2) 広島電鉄5000形 #shorts
Introduced in 1999 as the first low-floor articulated light rail vehicle to operate on the Hiroden network, the Hiroshima Electric Railway 5000 Series (広島電鉄5000形電車) were actually Siemens Combino (officially Combino Hiroshima) as domestic railcar industry did not have the technology at the time to build them. They were branded as “Green Mover” on the network.
While not many of these vehicles remain in action due to a shortage of spare parts, the Hiroden 5000 Series provided an important motivation for the domestic railcar industry to step up and develop their own local low-floor articulated tram model.
