The Tokyo Metro 1000 series (東京地下鉄1000系/東京メトロ1000系) is the successor to the venerable Tokyo Metro 01 series. Built by Nippon Sharyo and introduced in 2012 on the Ginza Line (東京メトロ銀座線), it is fitted with Toshiba IGBT-VVVF traction control system using PMSM technology (same technology that is currently being adopted on SMRT’s C151 trains and possibly, the C651 in future).
The 1000 series has been awarded the 2013 Blue Ribbon Award. Its exterior design resemble the original TRTA 1000 series, the very first rolling stock to operate on Ginza Line since 1927. It is set to replace the 01 series completely by fiscal year 2015.
