京都観光おすすめモデルコース|新緑の銀閣寺・南禅寺・祇園|京都日帰りひとり旅vlog
The fresh greenery is beautiful in May I took a day trip to Kyoto by myself. After visiting Ginkakuji Temple, we walked along the Philosopher’s Path. We visited Eikando, Nanzenji, and Chion-in. The final route is coffee and shopping in Gion. It’s a course with lots of walking You can enjoy the Kyoto atmosphere very much even on a day trip. This is my recommended course It was a good season for a walk, and the weather was nice. Everywhere was emptier than I expected. There were many places where I felt like I had Kyoto all to myself. Information that will be useful for your trip to Kyoto Let me introduce it to you. I would be happy if you could enjoy watching it until the end. When you go to Kyoto We will leave so that we can arrive early in the morning. Our first destination is Ginkakuji Temple, the farthest from Kyoto Station. Take the subway and the bus Arrived at Ginkakuji Temple Shoguns of the 1400s This is a Zen Buddhist temple built by Ashikaga Yoshimasa. The Kannon Hall of Ginkakuji Temple contrasts with the glittering Kinkakuji Temple The simple and calm beauty is attractive. Ashikaga Yoshimasa Grandson of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the Shogun who built Kinkakuji Temple After he retired, he lived in this building called Togudo. Buddhist training and Immersed in artistic and cultural activities I was looking forward to the completion of the Kannon Hall. He died in January of the same year it was completed (1490). Probably didn’t see it finished. This is called the Kogetsudai. It is said that Yoshimasa loved the moon. It is said to be a platform for viewing the moon. It is a delicate sculpture made of white sand. I don’t climb up here to see the moon. It is probably a symbol of a place to view the moon. From the observation deck You can see the whole precincts I also saw some inscriptions carved into the mountainside (famous in Kyoto). The path down from the observation deck The green maple leaves were refreshing and it felt really good. Birds singing, the sound of water, and a moss-filled garden The Japanese sense of beauty is embodied here The world of “wabi” and “sabi” If you want a goshuin stamp Leave your stamp book at the entrance and receive a numbered ticket. Please exchange it for your numbered ticket on your way out. By 9 o’clock, many students had already arrived. I secretly listened to the guide who was leading them. I enjoyed it. If you take your time to look at Ginkakuji Temple To our next destination, Eikando Temple Take a leisurely stroll along the Philosopher’s Path The Philosopher’s Path runs from Ginkakuji to near Nanzenji It is a walking trail that is about 2 kilometers long. This is a road with beautiful cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. You can enjoy the scenery of each season. Philosopher Nishida Kitaro I walked this road in contemplation. It seems that this name was given This quiet and peaceful lane It gives you a sense of Kyoto-like atmosphere and peace of mind. There are cafes and general stores scattered along the road. You can take a break and enjoy the view. The Lake Biwa Canal flows along the side of this road. What is the Lake Biwa Canal? To bring the water of Lake Biwa to Kyoto An artificial waterway built during the Meiji period. It irrigated the city of Kyoto and was also used for shipping and power generation. This clear water that flows along the Philosopher’s Path It remains an indispensable part of the Kyoto landscape today. We will introduce Waterway of Nanzenji Temple Keage Incline It forms part of the Lake Biwa Canal. The main stream of the Lake Biwa Canal is It joins the Kamo River near Marutamachi Street. It passes through Kyoto city and flows to Osaka. This journey is a “journey flowing with the Lake Biwa Canal” It’s fun to go for a walk with that in mind. I came across some interesting ideas along the way. A boat made of bamboo leaves with flowers on it Hand it to travelers walking along the Philosopher’s Path A gentleman encouraging people to float on the current of the Lake Biwa Canal Can you see the sky and maple leaves reflected on the surface of the river? Yes, it’s beautiful. This is the boat of your life If this flips over, you’re out of luck. If the flowers fall, be careful not to leave anything behind or lose anything. This is Sasafune’s fortune telling It’s my pleasure (free entertainment) He also showed us the rare Magnolia japonica flower. First time seeing it The flower has a refreshing lemon-like scent. If you walk the path of philosophy, You might meet him Walk south along the Philosopher’s Path for about 30 minutes Arrived at Eikando Temple There is a phrase that goes, “Eikando is filled with maple leaves in autumn.” This temple has long been famous for its beautiful autumn leaves. Founded in 853, its official name is “Zenrinji” In autumn, the autumn leaves are of course beautiful. The season of fresh green leaves is also exceptionally beautiful. Late May: The temple grounds are enveloped in blue maple leaves. The cobblestone road with sunlight filtering through the trees feels so refreshing, doesn’t it? Many temples covered with maple leaves They are connected by corridors, so you can walk around them. There were “swimming shoes” The staircase-turned corridor called “Garyuro” The scenery combined with maple leaves It was very beautiful. It was just around 11 o’clock, time for the monks to pray. As the bells ring, the monks walk through the corridor and enter the main hall. I was able to see the reading of the sutra. It’s very quiet and peaceful There are many different kinds of maples in the garden It’s not autumn yet, but you can still enjoy the red colors. “Spring maples” are also planted. It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Eikando to Nanzenji. It’s noon and I’m hungry We passed the gate of Nanzenji Temple and headed towards the temple town. Nanzenji is a place famous for its Yudofu (boiled tofu = food for Zen monks). Because this trip was decided suddenly, we didn’t make any reservations for lunch. Are there any restaurants where I can eat yudofu? Oops I visited on a Wednesday Many stores are closed on Wednesdays This store was open “Goemoncha!” I had a set meal of hot tofu. Tofu simmered in kelp stock Enjoy simply with condiments The original smooth texture of tofu My tired body recovered from the walk. The tempura was also nicely fried. It was very delicious This shop is rare around Nanzenji Temple. There are some seats where you can bring pets. It was a relaxing restaurant that was easy to enter even by myself. With our stomachs full, we headed to Nanzenji Temple. This temple was built in 1291. It is the most prestigious Zen temple in Japan. It is ranked higher than the five most prestigious temples in Kyoto. It’s a temple with a lot to see I recommend you plan plenty of time. First, head to the temple gate The Sanmon Gate of Nanzenji Temple is 22 meters high. A tower gate boasting an impressive scale A civil war that lasted for 10 years from 1467 It was burned down during the Onin War. In the early 1600s, a military commander named Toudou Takatora To commemorate the war dead of the “Osaka Summer Siege” The gate that remains today was rebuilt and donated. It is a Kabuki play called “Sanmon Gosan no Kiri” The real-life hero “Ishikawa Goemon” As a final memory before his execution, he was allowed to enter this tower gate. “Amazing view! Amazing view!” This gate is also famous as the setting for the famous scene in which the protagonist shouts, The story of him climbing up the gate is fiction. If you actually climb up, you can get a panoramic view of Kyoto city, which is truly spectacular. As you walk along the approach to the shrine from the gate, you will see “Hatto.” The ceiling is decorated with a powerful dragon. Please check it out when you visit. Facing “Hattou” in front of you, go to the right and you will come to “Suirokaku”. A red brick aqueduct built in the Meiji period It is an important facility for transporting water from the Lake Biwa Canal to Kyoto City. It features a beautiful arch This waterway is actually still in use today. The nostalgic scenery where Japanese and Western styles are fused together It has a unique charm that you can’t find anywhere else. It is also a popular photo spot. There were a lot of people taking photos that day too. Still, there was no one there, so I had a chance to take a picture. The best seasons for sightseeing in Kyoto are during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. Very crowded It’s sunny and the place is quite empty. I think a weekday in late May would be a good time to go. We visited the garden (a national treasure) You can also purchase a goshuin at the entrance to the garden. You will receive a paper that has already been written and prepared. The garden of Nanzenji Temple It is famous for its beautiful dry landscape garden. Expressing natural scenery with white sand and stones With Higashiyama as a backdrop, tranquility and harmony prevail. A relaxing space that helps you forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you could take your time to explore Nanzenji Temple We head towards Chion-in Temple along the flow of Lake Biwa Canal. On the road to Nanzenji Temple Keage Incline What is an incline? Used to get ships over mountains A device with rails Keage Incline It was built as part of the Lake Biwa Canal during the Meiji period. The boat was placed on a cart and moved up and down the slope by means of cables. Now the former railroad tracks have become a promenade. In spring, it is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot and is bustling with visitors. You can also see the old tunnel called “Nejirimanpo” nearby. Departing from Keage Incline Passing by the Kyoto City Zoo Walk along Niomon Street for about 10 minutes I could see the large torii gate of Heian Shrine! It’s big. Chion-in Temple, where we are heading, is in the opposite direction from Heian Shrine. I would like to visit Heian Shrine again someday. From the large torii gate, walk another 10 minutes and you will reach Chion-in Temple. There were a few cafes along the way. If you’re tired, it’s nice to take a break at such a shop. Arrived at Chion-in Temple Chion-in Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect. Ruled Japan from 1603 to 1868 This is a large temple that developed as the family temple of the Tokugawa clan. The first thing to see is the Even larger than the gate of Nanzenji Temple It is the largest wooden gate in Japan (a national treasure). It is a Jodo sect temple. This gate incorporates the style of Zen Buddhism. (Loud sigh) My legs were very tired. Let’s take a break My legs are tired, but I can see the long, big staircase. My legs are getting even more tired (baby crying) I know how you feel, I’m tired But Because it has two great legs I’ll walk Wow! How big! That’s a very big roof The majestic “Mieido” Apparently, 673 tatami mats were used (1 tatami mat is approximately 182cm x 91cm). It’s so quiet you wouldn’t believe it’s so close to Gion. Chion-in Temple has “Nana Fushigi” (Seven Mysteries) It has been passed down for nearly 400 years. For example, here “Forgetfulness” The Japanese umbrella, with only the frame left, is placed in the attic. There are six other mysteries Walk down the Mieido corridor and come out at the back of the building. There is an entrance to the garden We have several “Nana Fushigi” exhibits. Please go and check it out. The gardens are not just for viewing, but for walking as well. At “Shuinjo” on the way from Sanmon to Goei-do You can purchase a Goshuin stamp. You can choose from three types and have them written right in front of you. The sound of the bell at Chion-in Temple It is famous as one of the “Three Famous Bells of Japan.” I was only able to visit until 4pm. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see the Great Bell Tower. If you visit Chion-in Temple Please take a look at the bells too. If you walk along the road that stretches straight from the gate It takes about 10 minutes to reach Gion and Hanamikoji Street. If you want to go to Yasaka Shrine If you go left on this road, you can pass in front of me. Please refer to this if you want to stop by. A little sweet treat A shop located right at the entrance to Hanamikoji Have a coffee at the long-established “Kagizen Yoshifusa” Founded over 300 years ago A famous Japanese sweets shop with a long history “Warabimochi” that is only available at this store Like the blue maple leaves I saw that day I had some refreshing green tea. First, try it without brown sugar syrup. What a gentle sweetness! The green tea is not too bitter but has a strong flavor. The taste of “Warabimochi” is further improved with brown sugar syrup. They also provided us with complimentary sweet dried confectioneries. You can experience the atmosphere and craftsmanship of Kyoto with all five senses. The shop is in the front and a coffee shop in the back. I bought some “warabimochi” (strawberry mochi) at the store as a souvenir for my husband. It will keep for 5 days at room temperature. It’s small and easy to take home, so I recommend it. I walked along Hanamikoji for a little while. It’s a weekday, but there are a lot of people. I especially felt that there were a lot of foreign tourists. I missed the chance to take a photo though. I also met a maiko. I also buy souvenirs for myself. First, I bought some popular oil blotting paper at Yojiya. It has been available for a limited time only in the summer for the past two years. Purchase a refreshing Ramune (carbonated drink) scent They go on sale around the end of April every year. We made one more stop I bought a “Japanese tenugui” when I was traveling. My hobby is decorating my room. This is “Eirakuya,” a shop that sells tenugui. Eirakuya is Japan’s oldest cotton cloth merchant. It is a long-established store with over 400 years of history. After working as a merchant for Oda Nobunaga (Japan’s most famous military commander) It was founded in 1615. Vivid colors and playful compositions You can feel the present in the tradition The blue maples seen in the garden on this day I was able to take it home I also bought a bag to carry my work laptop. This item is made of canvas that has been waxed. It’s cute and seems sturdy, I like it Passing in front of Minamiza (Japan’s oldest theater) to Gion Shirakawa I walked a little Cobblestone road, swaying willow leaves The babbling of the Shirakawa River will open your mind This is an area that is full of Kyoto-ness. The top of Tatsumi Bridge is very popular with foreign tourists. It felt more lively than quiet. If you look at nearby Shinbashi Street, I was able to see the tranquil streets of Kyoto. This is the Kamo River It seems that you can already enjoy the “Nouryo-yuka” We were able to reunite with the Lake Biwa Canal. It was a weekday, but it was crowded with people. However, apart from Gion and this bridge, I was able to sightsee without being crowded. I took a coffee break a little late, For dinner, I bought a Kyoto bento at the station. I had a delicious meal on the Shinkansen. Kyoto is famous for its ramen I wanted to eat it I walked a lot that day, 26,000 steps. My heart was very satisfied My legs were very tired. (I’m a desk worker and don’t usually walk much.) Kyoto is very convenient when using buses. Taking time and fatigue into consideration Taking the bus is also a good idea. The cost of the trip is as follows Please refer to I sometimes think like this Enjoying a day trip to Kyoto And in another video later I would like to introduce some recommended routes for day trips in Kyoto. Please watch the next video too Thank you for watching until the end!
