The offshore area is one of the world’s leading fishing grounds where the Oyashio and Kuroshio currents collide. Recently, it is also known as the birthplace of Major Leaguer Roki Sasaki^^ Ofunato Onsen is a hot spring inn that boasts the spectacular view of Sanriku, which has been voted the best in Japan, and seafood cuisine called “Fisherman Meshi.” This time, I stayed in an oceanfront room on the top floor with the best view at Ofunato Onsen. In this video, we will give a full review of the charms of Ofunato Onsen, including the spectacular view that can be said to be the best in Japan and the famous boat-sized dinner. History and Overview Ofunato Onsen is a solitary inn located on the scenic Sanriku coast near the southern border of Iwate Prefecture with Miyagi Prefecture. The history of Ofunato Onsen lies with the recovery from the earthquake. In March 2011, an unprecedented earthquake and tsunami hit Ofunato. The current Ofunato Onsen is a five-story building with a total of 58 guest rooms. The pride of Ofunato Onsen is the spectacular view of Sanriku, which was voted the best in Japan for four years in a row in the Hot Spring Election, and the seafood cuisine called “Fisherman’s Meshi” made with seasonal ingredients procured from markets and home-grown fishing grounds. When it comes to cooking, they are particular about providing seasonal ingredients, and even have a “seasonal appetizer calendar” on their website. Approximately 3 minutes from the Goishi IC on the Sanriku Expressway. An Iwate Prefecture Kotsu bus stop is right in front of the inn . In place of the railway that was damaged in the Great East Japan Earthquake, JR East operates a bus rapid transit system (BRT). Ofunato Marumori Station is a 1-minute walk from the inn, making it easily accessible. Enter the building through the entrance, which has a tiled roof and a splendid lettering of Ofunato Onsen. This time, we stayed in a special room on the top floor, ocean front. This is a plan that includes a boat ride.Accommodation fees will be disclosed at checkout.Room Review : Room 501 had a vending machine and yukata in front of the elevator on the 5th floor (top floor) . It was a special room ocean front card key.The card holder is cool♪ The door locks automatically.The power turns on when you insert the card.First , I open the curtains with my wife so we can go outside.The ocean front balcony is also very spacious.The weather was better the next morning, so this is the view around 8am. The buoy on the sea looks like it’s used for oyster farming.The bedroom is about the size of an 8-tatami Japanese-style double room and has a small TV.The living room is a Western-style room with a total area of ​​56 square meters . It seems to be showing us the scenery of the morning ^^ Tea sweets are sea urchin salt rice crackers. Local crafts are displayed on both sides of the TV stand. It looks like you can get a lot of work done at the desk♪ Green tea and camellia tea tea bags . There is a bathroom in the back . There is an ocean view from the bath window (^^♪ The bath in the room is not a hot spring.You can take a bath just to see this view^^ The shampoo was from KOSE.The toilet is barrier-free and has an open design.There are plenty of handrails.It also comes with a washlet. DHC cosmetics set face sheet It’s nice for women 👍 In addition to the hair band, there were amenities such as a shaver, toothbrush, hairbrush, etc. It’s a new and clean washroom👍There was a closet hot water basket.Face towels and yukata with names are borrowed from in front of the elevator on each floor.I tried on the yukata♪ It was a nice green yukata^^ Beer and mineral water in the refrigerator are free (beer is a benefit of the special room). WiFi is available in the room. You can also connect to mobile phone signals without any problems. If you install the smartphone app called “Ofunato Sanpo,” you will receive 1% points on your accommodation fee. Payment is made in advance, so you can use it for drinks and souvenirs immediately on the day. Many shops in Ofunato City are members, so we highly recommend you to install it ^^ This is the view from the mountain side. Introduction to the large public bath First, there is the men’s bath. Men’s bath – Changing area: It is spacious enough for day-trippers as well. You can try the cosmetics sold at the shop ^^ It is characterized by being a sodium, calcium, and chloride spring (cold mineral spring) with a pH of 8.9, and is constantly heated. Circulating filtration and disinfection are also performed. It’s typical of Ofunato Onsen that the time for sunrise is long.^^ Large public bath Men’s bath The entire indoor bath is very spacious, and you can already see the spectacular view at the back♪ The large bathtub is “Atsuyu” and the small bathtub is “Nuruyu”. It is a stone bathtub. There are handrails and steps, making it barrier-free. You can see this spectacular view while taking a bath in the indoor bath . There is a lot of space between you and your neighbor 👍 You can try cosmetics from a brand shop called Wind Hill for shampoos ^^ Now let’s go to the open-air bath (^^♪ There are probably not many open-air baths with such a spectacular view 👍 It’s low so you can see the sea nearby. The open-air bath is about the size of 4-5 people and is decorated with rocks. When you take a bath, this is the view. Next is the women’s bath. Women’s bath The changing area is almost the same and is spacious enough. Large public bath with cold water and baby bed Women’s bath Indoor bath “Atsuyu” The shape of the bath is a little different from the men’s bath, but it is also spacious enough. The scenery is equally spectacular♪ “Nuruyu” This is a little larger than the men’s bath. The washing area looks larger in the women’s bath. The same goes for shampoos. This is an open-air bath for women. It’s an equally spectacular view. The bath is almost the same.There is a fence, but the top is completely open. It’s a wonderful bath ♪ I went to the shop to see the salted sea urchin crackers that were in the room.These will come out for dinner ^^ There was an eco bag made from tairyo flags.They seem to be reprocessing old tairyo flags. It seems to be USED, so there are some stains left.The tote bag is also cool👍Don’t you think the design is really nice? ^^ You’ll be lucky if the word “Congratulations” is printed on it.(^^♪ The tote bag was 3,900 yen , and the eco bag was 2,300 yen^^ Let’s go to the foot bath “Fukko no Yu” outside the Fukko no Yu.It ‘s a “foot bath” outside that anyone can use.O ~ho Just the right amount of hot water♪ It’s warm~It feels good ~You can enjoy the foot bath while looking at the spectacular view 👍 Let’s go to the rooftop ♪ You can see almost a 360 degree panorama from the rooftop. This view is probably the best view in Ofunato Onsen (^^/ I went to “Shioto Beach” which is a little further down. Shion Beach is a private beach of Ofunato Onsen. You need to be careful because the footing is poor 😅 The view from here is also spectacular ^^ Although it is a “beach”, there are stones of various sizes and shapes, and the water makes a unique sound. The water is very beautiful . It’s time for dinner (fisherman’s food) . Dinner is served at a table on a tatami mat. The setting is gentle on the feet. Appetizers are available. First off, we have a cider from the special room. It’s Apple Cider from the local Ofunato winery. “Cider” had an image of being sweet, but it has a refreshing taste. This is great! Lol Did you notice that this dinner is a fisherman’s meal plan ? It is a pancake-like food that is baked in a pot. All of them are cheap (^^♪ The wakame seaweed was freshly harvested and eaten right at home, and it was the best! Seasonal ingredients are sold at the shop, so be sure to check it out!
