【無人島観光】廃墟の島・友ヶ島を散策!ラピュタのような絶景とご当地グルメてんかけラーメン
This time, we’re exploring Tomogashima in Wakayama Prefecture. We’ll finish the trip with some local ramen. Mysterious scenes called the “Laputa of the land.” Please enjoy it! Good morning. Today, let’s go together to Tomogashima in Wakayama. The ferry terminal is under the bridge. 30 minutes before departure, many other visitors were already here. Buying a round-trip ticket. 2,500 yen per adult. There are 4 to 6 ferries a day. So thankful for today’s good weather. Time to board. It seems up to 109 passengers can board. There were indoor seats too. The entrance was tied with rope. And now, departure! The island you see ahead on the left is Jinoshima. Still no sign of Tomogashima. Finally, Tomogashima appeared on the front left. Arrival in about 20 minutes. Time to land. Hello, Tomogashima! [Island Announcement] This is a sacred site from “Summer Time Rendering.” Shells were on display. We’ll circle the island clockwise from here. Alright, let’s go! First, heading to the ruins of Battery No. 3. Climbing starts now. The trail is a steep mountain path. It might be dangerous to visit in sandals. There was a man-made cave along the trail. Almost there! Finally, we’ve arrived. This view is why it’s called the “Laputa of the land.” Let’s also look inside the battery ruins. Lights were installed, so it wasn’t too dark. There were stairs inside. It seems divided into several levels. It must be quite spacious inside. We came back outside. There was another path leading inside. What’s that sound…? It looks like similar structures connected in a row. This was the innermost area. From the ruins, climbing to the right, we reached the observatory. Other tourists were resting there. On the way down from the observatory, we saw a collapsed building. Tomogashima. Walking towards Ikejiri Square. Thick moss covered everything. Let’s stop by the small observatory. A panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea. Let’s see the remains of the former Navy Sound Monitoring Station. We’ve climbed quite high. What is this, I wonder? The destination is coming into view. It’s quite an old building. Let’s take a look inside. Here, they used to monitor submarine propeller sounds entering Osaka Bay 24 hours a day. From the outside, it looks like this. It looks as if the building is buried underground. There were splendid pine trees along the coast. We’ve arrived at Ikejiri Square. Shall we head to the lighthouse? Climbing the mountain path. There it is. The steep slope was tough. A white lighthouse standing quietly on the island. We couldn’t enter the lighthouse interior. Since it’s nearby, let’s go see it. Is this the Meridian Square? Japan’s southernmost meridian tower. Battery No. 1 ruins. Next, we came to Battery No. 2 ruins. A large building remains. It’s like being inside a video game world. There’s a designated attack direction. This is an illustration. Could that beach in the back be the one from “Summer Time Rendering”? Now just a ruined lodging facility. What’s a coin-operated hot shower? Dragonflies flying everywhere. The sound of waves is soothing. A little more walking and we’ll return to the starting point. Is that a pension? It seems this has also become a ruin. I wish I had stayed here once when it was open. There were also unused trucks and houses. A handmade swing. The pier is coming into view. There was a strange object along the way. In front of the port, a torii gate and stairs. Let’s climb since we’re here. Another steep slope 💦 A small place but with dignity. Thank you very much. Finally back. The whole route took about 2 hours. If you arrive on a morning ferry, you’ll have plenty of time before the last one. There’s the island’s only café in front of the pier. Shall we head back? Bye-bye, Tomogashima. We’ll arrive at Kada Port in about 20 minutes. On the way back, I sat inside. How was the Tomogashima tour? If you enjoyed it, please like and subscribe. Next, local ramen! Here we are at Green Corner. A local Wakayama restaurant. Their specialty is Tenkake Ramen with tempura bits and wakame. Very affordable prices. Since it was lunchtime, the restaurant was crowded. I ordered Tenkake Ramen and Hayazushi. Can’t wait, can’t wait. Lunch has arrived. On the left is Hayazushi. Hayazushi is sushi made with mackerel. Let’s eat! That was delicious! Finishing off with the famous Green Soft ice cream! See you all again on the next trip!
