  1. The Kölner Dom recreated from circuit boards….love this building! And been there quite a few times for the view, a few times even lucky enough to see Mt. Fuji!

    Buildings like this, or the Fuji Tv Building or the Yokohama Landmark Tower really give that "Neo Tokyo" vibe you get from Akira and other anime. Way more interesting and distinct than so many glass towers that have been built more recently.

  2. I can see how the frugal Japanese might have gotten sticker shock on the price. Likewise the gigantic scale with nary a trace or nod to a Japanese aesthetic in a government building could have been grating. IMO it looks like something that didn't make it off the drawing table of a Soviet designer, right as they ran out of money and time.
