Kirigamine Kirigamine is a lava plateau in
the central part of Nagano.
It has peaks like Mt. Kurumayama,
Mt. Chochomiyama, and Mt. Washigamine.
The highest is Mt. Kurumayama at 1,925m. With gentle slopes, most of the
area is grassland.
Listed among Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains,
Fukada Kyuya described it as
“a mountain to play on, not to climb.” Kirigamine is rich in vegetation,
with hundreds of alpine plants.
It’s also one of the Flower 100 Mountains,
famous for willowherb. There are many well-maintained trails
to choose from.
This time we’re taking a classic loop:
from Kurumayama-kata through
Yashimagahara Marsh and Mt. Chochomiyama. The course is 10.1 km,
463 m up and 463 m down,
with a standard time of 4 hours 7 minutes.
Course difficulty is rated “normal.” We’re posting our diary on YAMAP.
