A brief glimpse of Nangū Grand Shrine East of the Sekigahara Battlefield, Taruimachi, Gifu Prefecture. Visible from the window of the Tokaido Shinkansen Beyond the red torii gate, stands Minami-no-miya Grand Shrine, the principal shrine of Mino Province. Its principal deity is Kanayamahiko-no-mikoto, the god who presides over metals and mines. The precincts feature a gate tower, the Takamaden Hall, a worship hall, corridors, and more, Constructed by Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun of the Edo shogunate The vibrant vermilion-colored shrine buildings. Featuring intricate bracket carvings adorning the shrine buildings, and the hundred torii gates of Nangū Inari Shrine standing in straight rows, there are many points of interest. The three-storied pagoda that once stood within the precincts transferred to Shinsen-in Temple during the Meiji separation of Shinto and Buddhism, preserving the atmosphere of that era.
