【ランクル250で雨の知床峠へ挑む。北海道2,500キロの旅 】Ep.５| Epic Hokkaido Road :2,500Km Adventure. RFMEMP ｜LANDCRUISER 250
Thank you for watching. This is Shin from FUJI CAMP. This story is the fifth episode of our 2,500-kilometer journey through Hokkaido in a Land Cruiser 250. This time, we’re finally heading to Shiretoko. This channel brings you car trips, car camping, and comfortable customizations in a Land Cruiser 250. Please support us by subscribing and liking our channel. First, we head along the Road to Heaven. This road appears to reach the sky and continues in a straight line for approximately 28 kilometers. Once we reach the top of the Road to Heaven, we can see the straight road in full view. I set my first destination. Rain has begun to fall over the Sea of Okhotsk, and we drive along the coast. It’s drizzling, but we hope the weather will gradually improve. Today, we’re also heading to Shiretoko, so I’ve brought a bear bell and spray with me. Next, let’s finally head there. As I mentioned briefly before, I love the Land Cruiser 250 VXD’s 12.3-inch display audio because it’s large and easy to read. My 250 is raised two inches with coils, but the ride is just right—not too soft—and I can corner comfortably. The Shiretoko Five Lakes are a collection of five lakes, large and small, scattered amongst a virgin forest, home to everything from large mammals to birds of prey. To ensure safety, we chose to walk on the elevated boardwalk , designed to keep out wild animals . It had been drizzling until just now, so we didn’t think we’d encounter any animals, but we did see a deer. Then, the sky began to peek through the gaps in the clouds. Now that the rain had stopped, it felt great to drive. We decided to head to Shiretoko Pass before our lunch break, while the weather was still clear. As we gained altitude, fog began to roll in. I had a bad feeling… Could we see the view? We arrived at Shiretoko Pass. The sky was brightening a little. We had given up hope, but the weather had finally cleared, so we were happy. So, let’s drive over the pass! Wow. A spectacular view greeted us. Now, let’s head back to Shari for lunch! The weather has completely cleared, and we can see the beautiful ocean. We’ve arrived at the restaurant we wanted to visit. This restaurant was featured in the Michelin Guide in 2012 and 2017 and is a Bib Gourmand recipient . Delicious!!! I chose the double char siu ramen with miso. The fatty char siu was delicious. I tried my wife’s vegetable char siu ramen, which was also delicious. We stopped for dessert at the nearby roadside station! Of course, I chose the milk soft serve ice cream. Now, we’re heading to our accommodation : Dormy Inn Abashiri. Good night. We have four destinations set for today. We continue on our way, stopping for toilet breaks at rest stops my wife researched. Will the rain ever stop? This is Abashiri Station. And to our right, we can see Abashiri Prison. The temperature is a cool 19°C. It’s finally a typical Hokkaido temperature. We stopped at the first rest stop to buy some water and headed onward. Next up was a view we were looking forward to, but the rain still wasn’t stopping. We happened to pass a dam. The greenery was getting deeper. We were almost at our destination, Mikuni Pass. We then had lunch at an antique cafe. First, we slowly savored our coffee. Our 2,500-kilometer Hokkaido journey was drawing to a close. Thinking that the next episode would be the last made me long for homecoming. I ordered two recommended curries, each incredibly filling. I could already imagine how delicious they would be even before I ate them. The weather hasn’t been great for the past two days, but we managed to see some beautiful scenery. The rain has even stopped for a moment. Thank you for watching Mikuni Pass until the end.
