【兵庫 城崎温泉】温泉街グルメ食べ歩きとカニ旅館と外湯めぐり|小林屋|本巣ヱ|竹内魚店|一魚一恵|牛匠上田|温泉寺
I went to Kinosaki in winter thinking, “I want to take a hot spring, stay at a Japanese inn, and relax.” But there are so many places I want to go that I can’t relax at all. It was a trip full of food and scenery. Please stay with me till the end if you like. We arrived after a 3 hour bus ride. Well, it’s cold! I immediately thought of a hot spring in front of the station, but it turned out to be a hot spring I could drink. drink! ? I gingerly put it in my mouth…is it a bit salty? It had a bit of a strong taste, but it was drinkable. Even if you drink it, it seems to have the effects of hot springs. In addition, geta from each inn in Kinosaki Onsen were dedicated in front of the station. The colors and designs vary slightly depending on the inn, and it’s fun to look at them. Next to it is Satonoyu, which is currently closed. Many people enjoyed the footbath. There’s a little snow left. It’s cold on the street…! I heard the sound of freshly baked egg bread coming from the shop “Motosue” across from Satonoyu. It’s a restaurant I’ve always wanted to eat at, so I decided to buy it even though I just arrived. Chocolate and plain…I couldn’t decide between them, so I bought both. I was lucky to be able to buy it at the right time as it seems to be sold out sometimes. Feeling happy, I immediately head out to the hot spring town. The Eki-dori street I’m walking on now is lined with many restaurants and souvenir shops. The place I’m looking for is “Takeuchi Uoten”. As a bread lover, I was very interested in this chikuwa bread. I heard that it would sell out quickly, but it was still available! Good~ The other pastes look delicious, but I can’t bear it since it’s before lunch…! So I went to a restaurant on the same street for lunch. Kinosaki is close to the sea, so you can enjoy fresh seafood. Crab is also famous especially in winter. I chose this restaurant because they had yellowtail rice bowl, which my husband loves. “A bowl full of yellowtail.” As the name suggests, there is a lot of fresh-looking yellowtail on top. The presentation was very beautiful, but as for the taste… it looked delicious and I finished it in no time. it was good~! In anticipation of the food tour that follows, I decided to have a small sashimi set meal. I’m glad that there are a few different types of sashimi. It also contains crab and feels luxurious. …but it may have been a little too small. lol It was still very delicious. Thank you for the meal. At the end of the station street, there is finally a hot spring town along the river. The area is lined with public baths and inns, giving it the feel of a hot spring town! It was my first time to visit a hot spring town, and I was captivated by the atmospheric scenery. We went deep into the hot spring town and came to the ropeway. There is Onsenji Temple, which is also the guardian temple of Kinosaki Onsen. In the past, there was a custom of “When visiting Kinosaki Onsen, first visit the hot spring temple,” and this time I decided to follow that tradition and visit there first. I arrived at Sancho Station. There was still more snow than on the ground. Kanizuka is a place where crabs are worshiped and held a memorial service. The carved crab is somehow cute. From the observation deck, you can see a panoramic view of Kinosaki, including the hot spring town. A hot spring town in the mountains, with great views. Is the Sea of Japan on the left? I’m also curious about the cafe at the summit station, but due to sudden maintenance on the ropeway, I was told that if I missed the next flight, it would be 40 minutes later, and I had another scheduled flight, so I hurried to catch the flight down. (↓Cute crab mark on the ropeway) Get off at Onsenji Station along the way. Onsenji Temple is said to have been founded in 738 by Dochi Shonin, who opened Kinosaki Onsen. Admission fee is 300 yen per person. The view from the entrance is already impressive! A staff member accompanied me inside and explained each step in detail. Inside the main hall , I was impressed by the 834-armed statue of the Senju Kannon, the statue of the Four Heavenly Kings, many Buddhist statues, and the splendid interior, which belies the fact that it was built in the Muromachi period. I was also able to learn about the ancient bathing etiquette passed down at Onsenji Temple. Now you can enjoy visiting the public baths with peace of mind. The Tahoto pagoda, the only one in the Tajima region, is in the style of the Nanbokucho period and is characterized by its large roof. There is a walking route to return from Onsenji Temple. Onsenji was very nice. I felt like my heart was being cleansed. At the foot of the ropeway is the main bath of Kinosaki Onsen. Hmm… it looks hot… (apparently it’s 81 degrees Celsius) At a nearby shop, you can make hot spring eggs using the hot spring water. I don’t like half-boiled eggs, so I think I’ll try this crab bun. It wasn’t the usual “crab-like” crab bun, but it actually tasted like crab! Return to the hot spring town, check in at the inn where you will be staying today, and leave your luggage. This time’s accommodation is “Kobayashi-ya”. Stretch out a bit and have dinner and breakfast. The exterior is a registered tangible cultural property, and the interior is also very nice. I’m looking forward to going to the inn later, so I’m going to go for a walk around the hot spring town (and eat some food). This is a direct sales store for Tajima beef, and also sells croquettes and minced meat cutlets. It was close to closing, but I was able to buy a taro croquette and a mille-feuille cutlet. The taro croquette is packed with the sticky texture of the taro and the flavor of the meat, making it delicious! Mille-feuille cutlet is very sweet and juicy due to the fat of Tajima beef. The fat wasn’t heavy at all, and the refreshing shiso added to it, making it a complete meal in no time. There are cute storks that are associated with Kinosaki all over the hot spring town. The number of people wearing yukata while visiting the public baths is gradually increasing, and you can feel the atmosphere of a hot spring town even more. This is my first time trying “crab yaki” instead of taiyaki. It was completed in no time. The thin skin is crisp, chewy, and fragrant. It was freshly baked and piping hot. Enticed by the steam, I also bought some crab rice. Each grain of rice was packed with crab flavor and was very delicious. There was also a retro playground. I want to try shooting in a yukata at least once. Shisho Shrine is located next to Gosho-no-Yu on Yunosato Street. It seems that he is worshiped as the guardian deity of Kinosaki Onsen. You can see the steam from Gosho no Yu in the back. The sun was setting and it was getting dark. I think it’s time to go back to the inn and prepare for dinner. The inn and room were very nice, so I would like to introduce them to you. There is a library exclusively for guests in the lounge immediately after entering. You will feel relieved in the calm space. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to relax this time so I couldn’t take advantage of it. The room also has a nostalgic feel that makes you want to say “I’m home.” There are also plenty of amenities. You can choose your own yukata for visiting the public baths at check-in. There are instructions on how to wear a yukata and how to tie an obi, but I’m clumsy so I don’t feel like I can do it at all…(I did something about it) I was grateful for a bag to carry a towel and change of clothes for visiting the public baths. Dinner will be served at the in-house dining room. I had never eaten crab before, so I made a reservation for the “Winter Limited Crab Suki Nabe Course” where I could enjoy a lot of crab. Even the chopstick rest is crab! It’s really full of crabs. First up is the crab sashimi. This was my first time eating raw crab, and I’ve always wanted to try it. The texture is sticky, and the taste is sweet and rich, like sweet shrimp! delicious…! ! Crab miso tofu is packed with crab flavor! I can’t stop using chopsticks. There is plenty of crab miso in this bowl. Too luxurious for beginners… The chawan mushi also has a lot of crab inside. The gentle taste will make you feel relieved. Grilled crab grilled on a ceramic plate. It’s even more exciting when it’s cooked right in front of you. The grilled crab meat is soft and flaky. The texture is completely different from raw. This boiled crab contains water, making the meat even more plump. The taste and texture change depending on the cooking method, so you’ll be surprised no matter which one you eat. All the crabs are really delicious…Crabs are delicious, aren’t they? Lastly, I like crabs. There are still so many crabs coming out! ? I’m surprised. The waiter will add the ingredients and make it for you. It’s so beautiful to wrap vegetables with Chinese cabbage. The texture was also good. I was really impressed with the crab at Kani Suki. The soup stock that was originally in the dish was combined with the crab stock, and the crab absorbed the soup stock, and the taste of the crab exceeded that of the crab itself. It was so delicious…! Last but not least is dessert. The ice cream on the left looks like crab miso, but it’s hojicha ice cream. It’s a wonder that I can still eat sweets even when I’m full… Thank you for the meal. After dinner, we visited the public baths. Mandarayu, located on Kiyamachi Street, has a connection to Dochi Shonin, the founder of the hot spring temple. It is said that after chanting for 1,000 days, a hot spring began to gush out. The building is shaped like a temple hall, and the color of the roof is very beautiful. Perhaps because it was cold, the water was extremely hot and warmed me up quickly. It’s so warm that I don’t feel cold at all even when I go outside wearing a yukata. The water was nice. Next is “Yanagiyu”. It is said that this name originates from the fact that hot water gushed out from the roots of willow trees. (It was dark and I couldn’t take a good picture of the exterior, so I replaced it with one taken in the evening.) I’d heard that it was the hottest in Kinosaki, but it wasn’t that hot and was nice. Another feature of Yanagiyu is that there are two footbaths outside. The crabs took a long time and I was only able to visit 2 hot springs, but it was very relaxing. I was really impressed by the sound of these geta echoing through the hot spring town. Return to the hotel and have dinner before going to bed. The egg bread from Motosue that I had purchased when I arrived. Even though it’s been a while, it’s still jiggly when I poke it. It has a fluffy texture when you put it in your mouth. The gentle taste of egg spreads through the mouth. This is chocolate egg bread. It has a rich chocolate flavor that is completely different from the plain one. This is delicious…! Personally, I preferred chocolate. Quantities are limited, but please try it. I’m glad that in addition to the yukata for visiting the outdoor baths, they also provide yukata to wear while sleeping. And there’s even a hot water bottle inside the futon…! This is an inn where you will be happy to be taken care of. Tomorrow we will leave the hot spring town and tour around Kinosaki. However, I have plans to go to the public baths in the morning, so it’s time for a good night’s rest… On the second day, I started touring the public baths in the morning, had a delicious breakfast at the inn, and then headed out of the hot spring town to go sightseeing. I’m currently editing it, so I hope you’ll take a look at it next time.
