Toretore Village Hello! This is Hozuki. This travelogue is about my trip to Wakayama (3 days and 2 nights)! I’d like to introduce you to Toretore Village in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where I stayed for the first night! The second night was at Nanki Shirahama Nagaminoyu Kachou Fuugetsu! Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, where Toretore Village is located, is just over two hours by car from Osaka. By train, it’s about two and a half hours from Osaka to JR Shirahama Station. There’s a free shuttle service from Shirahama Station (first come, first served). Toretore Village’s dome house is super cute! The rooms are also charming and fairytale-like . You can enjoy two baths : Toretore no Yu, which has a wide variety of baths, and Katata no Yu, which has a very gentle hot spring! And for dinner, we enjoyed fresh ingredients from Toretore Market! The seafood was delicious , including fresh sushi, freshly grilled steak, whiting tempura, and seared skipjack tuna with plums! There’s a ton of delicious food, from seafood bowls to salmon pasta! The night view is also fantastical, like something out of a storybook. The breakfast is absolutely sumptuous! Packed with fish! We have seafood bowls, sea bream chazuke, grilled red sea bream with maple leaves, and grilled hairtail wrapped in asparagus! It’s so luxurious! Prices start from around 11,000 yen per person, depending on the date and plan! (One night, two meals: as of September 2025) This time, I hope to share the charms of Toretore Village, Wakayama Prefecture, and Shirahama Town. Thank you for your continued support! First, we took the Kinki Expressway to the Hanwa Expressway! I feel like I go to Wakayama about once a month! Lol. As usual, I got off at Kamitonda IC! It was just over 10 minutes from Kamitonda IC… and we arrived at our lodging for the night, Toretore Village! On the left is the restaurant and hot spring building! On the right is the accommodation building! It’s so cute! Park your car and check in first. This is the front desk! First, check in here. You can use this cart to move around when checking in! Now, let’s head to check in! This is the room we’ll be staying in! …a miniature version, lol, decorated for Halloween! (Stayed at the end of September) There is also a shuttle bus to the hot spring, “Toretore no Yu”! Here are the amenities. A toothbrush, razor, body soap, shampoo, conditioner set, hairbrush, and tea were also provided! There was a polar bear. So cute. Now, let’s head to our room! This is the entrance to Toretore Village. It’s lovely! There’s a map! There are quite a lot of rooms! Maybe I’ll check out Panda Village later! I’ll also introduce the adventurous “Village 8” later! But the atmosphere is wonderful. It ‘s kind of like a Chiikawa House! Dome houses are cute, aren’t they? This is my first time staying in a dome house, so I wonder what it’s like? The key is a regular key. Let’s go in! Wow, there’s a nice entrance hall. There’s also a hallway! Western-style room [Twin bedroom] with flooring . What is this fairytale-like room? Amazing! It’s great that there’s a sofa (which can also be used as a bed). This might be the fanciest room I’ve ever stayed in, lol. There’s a chair and a table, a TV, and a DVD player! There are cups, a kettle, and even insect repellent. They even offer sushi delivery! Amazing! Apparently you bring your own towel to the hot springs. Hmm. And there’s a refrigerator under the TV. Convenient. There are face towels and bath towels in the closet. There are hangers and deodorant too. The pajamas were separate! That’s nice! Next, let’s look at the bathroom. This is the toilet/sink. The sink is spacious and clean. The toilet is a tankless toilet. The hair dryer is by Tescom. Each building has its own bath, so it ‘s temperature-adjustable! The bath is also super cute! It’s a little small, but there’s a large public bath, so I didn’t use it! Wow, what a lovely room. This is a fun inn! After a short rest in the room… it’s time to head out to the bath and explore the surrounding area! Wow, but it’s a cute inn. That’s nice! First, we went to the Village Shop near the front desk. They sell Shirahama goods! They also have a wide selection of snacks and alcohol! They have local beer and wine! They also have Wakayama specialties like mandarin orange ice cream and green soft serve. They also sell soy sauce and pickled plums! Outside, we saw a sign that caught our eye… Marchen and Fanta G… What is this?! lol Then, we went to see the Panda Village, which we’d been curious about! *Only guests are allowed inside, so we’re only allowed at the entrance! There are so many cute pandas. Mandarin oranges… If you have small children, this is a great place to stay! This is Village 8 area within Toretore Village. The rooms seem to be inspired by a “world of magic and adventure”! It would be fun to stay here! Now, let’s head to Toretore no Yu! It’s about a 2-3 minute drive or a 7 minute walk. There is also a shuttle bus from the front desk! Guests can enter Toretore no Yu for free as many times as they like! It’s a fairly large hot spring facility, so it’s a great deal! There’s also a rock sauna, a game corner, tatami rooms, and a restaurant! *Guests can enjoy soy milk drinks at a special price! There’s also a restaurant, which is a great pre-buffet temptation! At Waratore no Yu, there’s not only the source of Shirahama Onsen, but also a refreshing open-air bath overlooking the Pacific Ocean! There’s a rock bath with refreshing water drawn from Shirahama Onsen, and a bath with Kishu Binchotan charcoal! There’s also a jewel-shaped bath that can be enjoyed by family or by yourself, a reclining bath where you can relax while looking at the forest, a shallow bath that children can enter, a gazebo where you can relax while watching TV, and an indoor bath with carbonated spring water that’s incredibly healthy! There’s also an oxygen bath that will warm you from the inside out! There’s a jet bath, an electric massage bath, and a sauna! There’s also a rock sauna, which costs extra, but there’s also a full range of other facilities! There’s a rock sauna using rock salt, a sauna where you can experience loyly, and a rock sauna using various natural stones! It was a facility with a lot to enjoy! After the hot spring, we headed to Toretore Market, just a short walk away! Yes, we were there to get some beer to drink in our room. Nagisa Beer’s new product! Southern Pils (¥500). I’m also thinking about buying their classic pale ale (¥420)! The Wakayama fruit and white wine combination is so tempting! I also need to buy some sweets. Shirahama pudding! Maybe Shirahama pudding with milk (¥380). After shopping, we headed back to Toretore Village. After a short rest in our room… it was time for the long-awaited dinner! Woohoo! Wow, it’s so beautiful when the sun goes down! It has a fairytale-like atmosphere, like being in a storybook. It’s lovely how each building is lit up. Now, let’s leave the village and head to the restaurant building! The restaurant building is about a three-minute walk (closer). This is the seafood restaurant “Toretore Tei” and the hot spring, Katata no Yu! Let’s go inside! We’ll show you to your seat. Yay! I put on gloves, grabbed a plate and headed out! First up was the Japanese-style section, with ganmodoki, boiled hijiki, lotus root kinpira and deep-fried autumn eggplant. Eggplant is my favourite, so I’ll have some! Looking sideways at the konnyaku country-style stew, I spotted some Nankou plums! Speaking of Wakayama, it’s pickled plums! Let’s eat. Then we headed to the sashimi section! There were clams, tuna, red sea bream and squid! I think I’ll have some later! It’s the salad section! Tomato, onion, cucumber, mixed salad, burdock salad, and broccoli salad spaghetti. The dressings are vegetable, Italian, Caesar, sesame, and green shiso. I had grated vegetables! I’ll have some vinegared pacific saury! I think I’ll have some. Next, I’ll have prosciutto and cheese caprese, and then some shimeji mushrooms and komatsuna with yuzu. While looking at the sweet potato potage, I’ll have sushi! First, my favorite salmon! It’s so fatty! It looked delicious, so I had two! Then I had red sea bream, and some delicious-looking tuna! (There was shrimp, too.) There’s an Asian food section! Nepalese-style curry-braised chicken thighs! It looks delicious. In the back, there’s also chicken with a spicy Sichuan sauce! Autumn salmon and mushroom chanchanyaki, and grilled squid pancakes. I’ll change to a new plate and have tempura! It’s whiting tempura. I love it. Let’s have some shiitake mushrooms too! (We also got two flounders) , pumpkin, and eggplant. I think we’ll have them with salted plum. These are squid potatoes. Let’s have some. Simmered sardines with ginger! That’s good. There were also fried potatoes, but we had crispy fried horse mackerel and fried daikon radish mille-feuille style. They said it was chilled grilled eggplant chawanmushi! Absolutely delicious. We also had freshly made steak! Thank you! We had it with grated daikon radish sauce! We also had autumn salmon and mushroom chanchanyaki! Lol And we also had squid chijimi! Lol For drinks, we had oolong tea. My partner had this. Hmm! That’s a bold move to start with curry! Lol Hozuki’s Choice – the seafood is fresh, and the meat is a Wakayama specialty! – Salad, saury, prosciutto and cheese caprese! And fresh sushi! Tuna, salmon (x2), red sea bream, eggplant , Asian-style chicken stew, komatsuna mushrooms. Tempura of whiting and shiitake mushrooms, chawanmushi, squid potatoes, fried horse mackerel . Salmon chanchanyaki, chijimi, simmered sardines with ginger. And freshly grilled steak with chips! I think I’ll have it like this! Veggie first. The burdock and vegetables are crisp and delicious! Oh, the prosciutto caprese is delicious! It would go well with alcohol! Deep-fried autumn eggplant is delicious! I love eggplant. Steak. It was cooked perfectly and super tender! I’ll have it again. Tempura of whiting. It goes well with a light plum salt! (I put too much salt on it.) And tuna! As they’re affiliated with Toretore Market, it’s fresh! Marinated saury. This year’s saury is delicious! The salmon is so tasty. So happy. The chijimi is chewy! This is also good! I love salmon chanchanyaki (a local Hokkaido dish)! The umami of the miso and salmon is irresistible. Delicious! The sardines are delicious! Refreshing and tender. I often cook them at home lol. I also love chawanmushi and grilled eggplant, so this chawanmushi was a real favorite! Squid and potato. Squid and potato go so well together! And the tomatoes are refreshing! A salad to cleanse the palate. The salad here is so good. And the plums are huge! So tasty! Shiitake mushrooms with plum salt. Thick and flavorful. A generous set of fried horse mackerel and daikon radish. Both the fish and vegetables are delicious! Sushi again! The red sea bream is packed with flavor! Komatsuna and mushrooms. Great seasoning…gentle flavor… very Asian! The Nepalese curry stew is delicious! Oh, by the way, I forgot to eat the potato chips! Delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly, and I was so happy…I finished the first serving! Of course, we’ll keep having more! First, we’ll have rice, then we’ll make a seafood bowl! First, red sea bream! We had a lot! Lol Next, we had squid, and of course we’ll have tuna! The okra looked delicious! Finally, we had some small clams! Let’s have some side dishes! First, we had boiled hijiki, then lotus root kinpira, and we’ll have the deep-fried and pickled autumn eggplant again! We’ll also have some country-style konjac! Finally, we’ll have some large Nankou plums. Let’s have some tofu steak! It ‘s huge. We’ll have the steak again! We chose Chaliapin sauce. Finally, we’ll have some Japanese-style salmon and mushroom pasta! Hozuki’s Choice – Seafood bowl as the main course, but also a variety of other dishes – *I secretly had sweet potato potage and saury lol We had a seafood bowl full of fresh seafood, another steak (with Chaliapin sauce) that I had already ordered , various side dishes, and tofu steak! The sweet potato potage and pasta look really delicious! So, let’s start with the second round! First up is the seafood bowl! The tuna is super fresh! Delicious! The red sea bream is also delicious! The sashimi is fresh and really good! The squid and small shrimp are also delicious. Yummy. You can really taste the potato in the sweet potato potage… Hijiki is also delicious. I’ve been loving this kind of thing lately… (I’m getting old) Crunchy lotus root! Lately I’ve been loving this kind of thing (etc.) Oh, this salmon pasta is delicious! The mushroom flavor is great too! It’s so delicious that my partner is reaching for it too! The tofu steak is also great! It’s filling and filling. The steak with Chaliapin sauce is also good. I love it. So, I’ve finished the second round as well! I think I’ll finish it off next time! I’ll have some rice again, and this time I’ll have the special curry! Don’t forget the fukujinzuke pickles. Wow, the sashimi lineup has changed! So, I had the yellowtail…and then I had the plum-flavored skipjack tuna! I also tried the drool-worthy chicken with Sichuan-style spicy sauce! I also had the chicken curry stir-fry! For dessert, I had pineapple! There were also oranges, warabi mochi, and roll cake. I had grape jelly! Finally, I had Mont Blanc cake! Hozuki’s Choice – A world where seafood, curry, and desserts coexist – First, a nostalgic curry! (That’s a compliment.) Then, the yellowtail and plum-flavored skipjack tuna! Delicious curry chicken, followed by drool-worthy chicken and squid potatoes. For dessert, I had a simple fruit, jelly, and Mont Blanc. I’ll finish with something like this! First, the plum-flavored skipjack tuna! Refreshing with the plum flavor! The yellowtail is fresh and delicious! This yellowtail is so flavorful! So fresh! Drool-worthy chicken is delicious, isn’t it? I could eat forever. A nostalgic curry. The vegetables are also soft and delicious! After refreshing my mouth with pineapple… Mont Blanc cake. Chestnut flavor is what I crave in autumn. I finished off with a refreshing grape jelly! The seafood buffet was especially delicious! It was very tasty! Thank you for the meal! After a short rest in the room… we headed to Katata no Yu, a bath within Toretore Village! Wow, the atmosphere is quite nice at night too! The scenery is quite fantastical and soothing. It’s just the right distance for a stroll! So we came to Katata no Yu! You can also enjoy Shirahama Onsen at Katata no Yu! It’s open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and you can also use it for day trips! (680 yen for adults) Now, let’s enjoy! At Katata no Yu, you can also enjoy the high-quality Shirahama hot springs! They use nanowater, which has excellent warming effects, moisturizing properties, and penetration, making the water very gentle on the skin! It feels like lotion, and leaves your skin feeling moisturized and not cold after a bath. You can enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot spring! The spring quality is a pure stratified spring (relaxing hypotonic hyperthermic spring), and personally, I preferred this type of water! After the bath, I returned to my room…and took photos of the night sky. The stars were so beautiful! Now, it’s time for some fun, in-room drinking! Whew! Nagisa Beer’s Southern Pils, and also Nagisa Beer’s Pale Ale. And everyone’s favorite, Shirahama Pudding . So, let’s have a toast! Ah , what a gorgeous aroma! And it’s refreshing and delicious! The Pale Ale is also delicious. 440 yen is a bargain, isn’t it?! Shirahama Milk Pudding is delicious. Milky. Whew, it was delicious. It was gone in no time! lol Finally , I’ll take care of my stomach with a Yakult! I drank and ate a lot today! That’s all for today. Good night! Good morning! It’s a lovely morning! Beautiful weather today too! First, I’ll go to the hot springs! I’ll enjoy a morning bath at Katata no Yu! After enjoying the morning bath… I’ll return to my room and rest for a bit… and then it’s time for the long-awaited breakfast! Woosh! On the way to breakfast, I thought, “What a cute building.” Breakfast will also be at Toretore-tei. I’m looking forward to it. Breakfast is unreserved seating! I grab a tray and head out! First, salad! Tomato, green salad, radish, radish sprouts, cucumber, and onion salad. The dressings were plum, Japanese-style, and green shiso. I tried plum dressing, as is typical of Wakayama! Next, I’ll have tuna and egg! Looking sideways at the natto… it’s a five-kind seafood cocktail! It looks delicious! (I take a lot lol) I ended up taking three! This one is plum enoki mushroom and okra. Looks delicious. In the back are whitebait and Nozawana greens, along with crunchy plums! I think I’ll also have the grilled eggplant with ginger sauce. And the crab mozuku, which is sure to be delicious. I’ll also have kinpira gobo! Shimeji mushrooms and steamed chicken with sesame chili oil are also good. I’ll also have the freshly steamed rolled omelet! Apparently the mentaiko cream mayonnaise is recommended! I think I’ll have the miso soup with chicken meatballs and autumn eggplant! The eggplant is huge! Looks delicious. Thank you! I also had some green onions and shichimi peppers! It’s grilled red sea bream with autumn leaves! It looks so delicious! Oh, there’s also red sea bream chazuke! I think I’ll have that to finish off the meal! I also had rice for the seafood bowl! Oh, I really need to have some pickled plums (Kinokawa pickles). My partner looks like this. The grilled hairtail wrapped in asparagus on the bottom right looks delicious! Hozuki’s Choice – So luxurious you wouldn’t think it was breakfast – First up is a 5-kind seafood platter for a seafood bowl, with tuna and egg, plum, enoki mushrooms, okra, shirasu, Nozawana greens, and crunchy plums! The salad is shimeji mushrooms and steamed chicken, grilled eggplant, and crab mozuku. The mentaiko cream rolled egg and kinpira gobo (stir-fried burdock root) are also great! And then there’s grilled red sea bream with maple leaves! So gorgeous! The eggplant miso soup and pickled plum rice make it perfect! This is how I want to enjoy a luxurious breakfast! First up is a salad, with vegetables first. It’s crunchy. The pickled burdock root has a great texture and flavor! I love grilled eggplant. So comforting. The ginger is tangy and delicious. Now, let’s put the seafood on the pickled plum rice! Apparently my partner made one too. For some reason, he’s showing off lol. I finished mine too! It looks so delicious! Red sea bream, yellowtail, salmon, salmon roe. And tuna. This is bound to be delicious! Whitebait, Nozawana, and crunchy plum. The greedy set is delicious! As expected from Wakayama, the umeboshi plums are just as good as yesterday’s! The eggplant and meatball miso soup is also amazing! The meatballs have a great flavor! So delicious! I love plum, moenoki mushrooms, and okra, so this is my absolute favorite. And then there’s the grilled red sea bream with maple leaves! It’s huge! Sea bream with the skin on is great, isn’t it? It brings out the umami of the sea bream, and it’s also delicious! Rolled omelet with mentaiko cream. Needless to say, it’s delicious! Tuna and egg. A great combination! I love it. Shimeji mushrooms and steamed chicken, healthy and delicious. A luxurious crab and mozuku seaweed start the day! As you’d expect from a market partnership! The breakfast is also delicious! Of course, I’ll be back for more!! First, I had some thick fried tofu with mapo sauce, then moved on to the kids’ corner. There were chicken balls, French fries, scrambled eggs, sausages, corn butter, and Swedish meatballs. This is the dessert section. I think I’ll come back later! Now, after eating the rice, I’ll make red sea bream chazuke! I’ll put a lot of red sea bream with the skin on and pour sesame sauce over it! I’ll sprinkle a little sesame seeds on top, and maybe some seaweed and rice crackers on top too. I’ll also add some nozawana greens! And then some hot broth! It’s sure to be delicious! I also had fried sweet potato dengaku and seafood nanbanzuke. I’ll have the delicious grilled eggplant again ! The plum enoki mushrooms and okra were also delicious! The small side dishes were delicious! I’ll have some crab mozuku too. I think I’ll have another bowl of rice! (Hmm?) The seafood bowl was delicious…super fresh! I think I’ll have a soft-boiled egg too. This time I’ll have it with the special yukhoe sauce! The bread section! There was table bread, French bread, pain au chocolat, and red bean bread! Next, I’ll have some Wakayama mandarin juice! Finally, we’ll have a yuzu soy milk drink! My partner finished it off! I see, the separate broth is great! The French toast looks delicious too! Hozuki’s Choice – Enjoying a seafood bowl and sea bream chazuke – First up is the mapo tofu, followed by sea bream chazuke! We also had small sweet potatoes, pickled vegetables, enoki mushrooms and okra! Then we have a 5-kind seafood platter with yukhoe flavor and a soft-boiled egg. We ‘ve already secured rice! Eggplant, mozuku seaweed, soy milk and Wakayama mandarin juice! We’ll have it like this! First, we’ll make a yukhoe flavored seafood bowl! Then we’ll put a soft-boiled egg on top! Wow, it looks so delicious. It’s irresistibly tasty! This is a winner! And then the sea bream chazuke! This is absolutely delicious too! The slightly cooked sea bream has an incredible flavor. So happy. The marriage of pickled plums and red sea bream. This is delicious. Seafood nanbanzuke! The fish is delicious. I refreshed my mouth with enoki mushrooms, plums, and okra, and then had some fried sweet potato dengaku! I love sweet potatoes! Delicious. The thick fried tofu with mapo tofu sauce was spicy and delicious. Great for breakfast! I had some Wakayama mandarin juice. It was sweet and delicious. The yuzu soy milk drink was refreshing and delicious! I finished it all the second time! I’ll finish it off next time! For dessert, there was strawberry pudding, yogurt, coffee jelly, etc. I think I’ll have the coffee jelly! I also had the French toast that my partner recommended! Maple syrup is a must! I also had the grilled cutlassfish wrapped in asparagus! I was debating whether to get the strawberry pudding! (I decided against it lol) And finally, I had iced coffee! Hozuki’s choice – keep it simple at the end? To finish – I just wanted to eat the grilled cutlassfish wrapped in asparagus! Then coffee jelly, French toast, and coffee. I think I’ll finish like this! The cutlassfish is delicious with its sweet and spicy sauce! Umami! It goes perfectly with the asparagus inside! The French toast that my partner recommended was fluffy and delicious! I finished off with coffee jelly and coffee for a refreshing finish! Phew. It was a delicious breakfast! I ate everything I could at Toretore Village! Thank you for the meal! Now it’s time to leave! Toretore Village was a cute and wonderful inn! The price was 11,503 yen per person including the discount!
