【宮城観光】おすすめ観光スポット10選

Hello. This is Niko Tabi SmileTravel. This time, we will introduce 10 recommended sightseeing spots in Miyagi. Miyagi Prefecture has long flourished as the political and military center of the Tohoku region. The Sendai Tanabata Festival is one of the four major festivals in the Tohoku region and boasts cultural value. Enjoy your trip to Miyagi. Matsushima Matsushima is one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, along with Amanohashidate in Kyoto and Miyajima in Hiroshima, and is characterized by its beautiful island scenery. The scenery of Matsushima Bay, dotted with over 260 islands, can be enjoyed from a pleasure boat or from one of the observation spots known as the Four Great Views. It is said to have been created about 5,000 years ago by the subsidence of the hills due to crustal movements after the ice age and the rise in sea levels due to global warming. It was one of the purposes of the haiku master Basho’s pilgrimage to Oshu, and it is introduced in Oku no Hosomichi, where he was amazed by its beauty. The magnificent view has inspired many haiku poets to write poems about it, and the verse “Matsushima ya, aa Matsushima ya, Matsushima ya” has been passed down through the generations. It was originally the Tendai sect’s Enpuku-ji Temple, founded by Zuiganji Ennin, and renamed Zuigan Enpuku-ji Temple of the Rinzai sect in 1259, where it remains to this day. It was thought that the Tendai sect’s Enpuku-ji Temple was destroyed when the sect changed, but documents have revealed that it overlaps with the current Enpuku-ji Temple. As the history of the temple is clarified, the idea that Zen and Tendai sects coexisted is becoming mainstream. The principal image is the Bodhisattva Kannon, which is said to have been the guardian Buddha of Date Masamune, and has been worshiped for many generations. It is said to bring good fortune in business, safe childbirth, traffic safety, and good luck, and is loved as the leading Zen temple in the Tohoku region. Entsuin Located in Matsushima-cho, Entsuin is a temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect, surrounded by a tranquil and solemn atmosphere. Sankeiden was built in 1647 by the 100th abbot of Zuigan-ji, Dosui, as a mausoleum for Mitsumune, the legitimate grandson of Date Masamune. The temple grounds are made up of five gardens, of which the Enshu Garden is said to be a representative Edo period work by Kobori Enshu. In the rock garden, islands named after the Seven Lucky Gods that exist in Matsushima Bay and the universe are depicted, and the bridge connecting heaven and earth represents the state of this world. The seated statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon, the principal image of the temple, is said to bring good luck in finding a partner, and worshippers visit the temple in search of a good match for love, exams, and other purposes. Zao Zao refers to the Zao mountain range and its surrounding area, which straddles Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures, and is known as a tourist destination rich in nature. Zao Onsen, which has a history of 1900 years since its founding, has long been known as a place for therapeutic bathing, and is considered a healing place in the rugged mountains. In winter, you can see the snow-covered frost-covered trees that look like monsters from the ropeway that leads from Zao Onsen to the summit. From spring to autumn, you can drive the Zao Echo Line and enjoy the magnificent scenery without any obstructions. The crater lake “Okama” near the summit is also called “Five-Color Lake” because it changes color depending on the amount of sunlight, and you can see a mysterious appearance. The Shiraishi River bank, which stretches about 8 km between Ogawara Town and Shibata Town, is a row of cherry trees known as Hitome Senbonzakura. Because the river was prone to flooding, towns and villages in the river basin worked together to work on flood control work, such as building embankments, and cherry tree seedlings were donated afterwards. About 1,200 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom in full bloom, and giant trees over 100 years old that were planted in the Taisho era create a beautiful cherry blossom tunnel. The snow-capped Zao mountain range towers in the background of the rows of cherry trees, and the contrast between the majestic figure and the cherry blossoms is a magnificent sight. During the cherry blossom season, the Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival is held, and there are also houseboat tours and nighttime illuminations. Jogi Nyorai Saihoji Temple Saihoji Temple is a peace-praying Amida Buddha that is said to have been carefully protected by Taira Sadayoshi, a senior vassal of the Taira clan, at the end of the Heian period. Although this Amida Buddha is a secret Buddha, it is affectionately called “Jogi-san” and has been worshiped for about 800 years since it was enshrined in Jogi. Historical buildings such as the registered tangible cultural property Sadayoshi Hall, the mountain gate, the main hall, and the five-story pagoda are carefully preserved. There is a matcha tea place and a pond in the garden, where you can enjoy authentic matcha while looking at the five-story pagoda and enjoy a charming time watching the carp swimming. It is famous for its benefits in matchmaking, fertility, and safe childbirth, and many people come to worship there every year. Sendai Castle RuinsSendai Castle , the residence of the Date clan of 620,000 koku, stands at an altitude of 130m and was built on a natural fortress with cliffs on the east and south. It is said that a castle tower was not built to avoid the vigilance of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The castle has now disappeared, but the stone walls and reconstructed side turrets evoke the past. Standing in front of the statue of Masamune on horseback, you can view the city from the same perspective as Masamune, who was burning with ambition to conquer the country. Sendai Castle is also known as “Aoba Castle,” named after the castle’s construction site on Aobayama Mountain, and is now bustling as Aobayama Park.Sendai DaikannonThis Buddha statue, which is said to be the second largest in Japan, stands 100m above ground and is officially called Sendai Tendo Byakue Daikannon. The 12-story body houses 108 Buddhas and the Twelve Heavenly Generals, and a small window on the top floor offers a panoramic view of the city. It was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the city of Sendai, and when you look into the atrium, you can experience the mysteries of Buddhism. Due to its overwhelming presence, it was introduced as the “final boss” in the media and on social media, and became a hot topic. Near the Great Kannon is the “Abura-kake Daikokuten,” a shrine that is said to bring good luck in finding a partner if you pour oil on it and pray to it, and it attracts many worshippers. Naruko Gorge , located in the Naruko Onsen area, is a V-shaped valley formed by the erosion of the Otani River, and boasts a depth of over 100 meters. It has a long history, having been recorded as a hot spring river in 837, and appeared in Matsuo Basho’s “Oku no Hosomichi” as “Naruko no Yu.” It is known as one of the best spots for viewing autumn leaves in the Tohoku region, and the autumn leaves and rough rock surfaces create a beautiful landscape, especially from late October to early November. There are walking trails where you can experience the beauty of the valley up close, such as the Ofukazawa Promenade, which starts from the rest house. There are many facilities around Naruko Gorge where you can experience the local culture, such as Naruko Dam and Kokeshi Museum. Yakurai Garden It features a vast area where flowers bloom in every season and a beautiful landscape made up of eight theme gardens. Opened in 1997, it has been loved as a facility where you can enjoy the seasons, cultivating about 400 types of plants. You can enjoy different flowers for each season, such as rape blossoms and violas in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cosmos in autumn. With the theme of “I want you to look at me. The size of the sky. The gentleness of the wind. And the beauty of the flowers,” it delivers the excitement that is lacking in the information society. In addition to the flower fields, there are many spots where you can enjoy taking photos, such as monuments, objects, and umbrella skies. We have introduced 10 recommended tourist spots in Miyagi.
