⁴ᴷ Kochi: Kochi Station (高知県: 高知駅) – Japan Walking Tour (January, 2026)
I’ve decided to take an off-season trip back to my hometown in Kobe, using it as a starting point for a journey all the way around Shikoku. Moving from Nankoku to Kochi City, I took a walk around the area surrounding Kochi Station at night.
Being a Saturday night, the pub districts and shopping arcades were bustling with people. Kochi has a long-standing reputation as a “land of heavy drinkers,” and the lively energy of the crowds heading out for a drink certainly lives up to that image. While there is a nightlife district with hostess bars, it felt somewhat more understated compared to other regional cities, offering a uniquely local and grounded atmosphere.
