Why We Love Fukui, Japan
Raina’s trip: https://www.japan-guide.com/ad/fukui-favorites/
Fukui has everything we love on a trip: peaceful temples surrounded by forest, amazing local food, friendly people, and…no crowds.
In this video we want to share some of our favorite spots, from Zen temples and forest shrines to dinosaurs and local food. Hopefully you’ll see why we keep coming back!
This video was made in collaboration with Fukui City.

Thank you for amazing trip.
Will be there in 3 weeks !
Great video Raina!😊 Thanks alot.
Did you know that a town of Tsuruga that is near has a history that combines Poland with Japan ? There is a museum there that shows this story.
Thanks for the suggestions!
If one wants to visit the dinosaur museum, remember not to go on weekend as it will be full of families as kids love dinosaurs 😂
Another great video, thanks. But I would add Echizen Daibutsu as an absolute must, especially when you are in Heisenji Hakusan Shrine
Thank you for this great video Raina ! We will be in Fukui city for 3 nights in March, mainly because of the Dinosaur museum and Eiheiji Temple. We will also be visiting Yokokan garden.
Otherwise, I have been wondering about Heisenji Hakusan Shrine, Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins or Echizen Great Buddha, but I believe that those places are very difficult to reach by public transport (and we both dont drive) ?
Another great area to visit! Another great video!
My brain be like “oh look another guide telling you to go back to Japan again, pack your bags”
Thks for the video. Can the japan guide do a recommendation on Shikoku area also ?
Although I've only visited once, Fukui is one of my favourite places I've visited in Japan. I visited back in 2017 and I dont think I saw one international tourist. Eiheiji really is amazing. I visited in Autumn also and it warms my heart just to see that red tree again. I also visited Heisenji Hakusan, also no international tourists to be seen, although it is quite far to get to from Fukui Station, I think I caught a shuttle bus from Eiheiji… If I ever return I want to visit the Shrine (which name escapes me) with the many statues which are really stacked really high and out in the countryside.
Hmmm. Methinks Raina was a bad girl. 😉
I'm so glad you covered Eheiji. I lived in Fukui for 3 years and loved every second of it. People should stay here for 3 days to truly experience everything this place has to offer
Raina, just an information, how are public transports there? I did a basic plan for my next trip in Japan from Nagoya to Nagahama, Fukui, Kanazawa and Noto peninsula, I don't feel at ease in driving to the left, so I need to understand if I coud reach Eiheiji temple and Dinosaurs museum in the same day, it seems a bit hard but maybe it can be done. Thanks.
Such beautiful shrine and temple 😍⛩🍁🍂
Not sure what I love more, Fukui or Raina travel guides, so this one definitely hit a spot.
Oh my gosh, this looks so amazing! (and woaaah, you have a really fantastic way to do your videos, they are so entertaining and it's just so much fun to watch!)
Thank you! I already followed you ( made the same trip), and I loved it. Writing down to my bucket list ❤what is the music that? For the temple
Fukui is one of the best prefecture in Japan for sure!
What month was this filmed in? Beautiful in autumn colors
I LOVED Fukui. I went for the first time in April, and it quickly became one of my favourite places in Japan. Seriously, I cannot sing Fukui's praises enough. Skip the over touristy places and just go to Fukui. Worth it.
この女好き❤️
Fukui, Saga, Kochi, Yamagata, Miyazaki… So many prefectures that are rarely talked about but are great to visit.
I spent 2 days in Fukui (Tojimbo, Katsuyama, Fukui) in June and it quickly became one of my favorite prefectures! I need to go back and explore more of the Echizen area and the mountains!
On previous videos about Fukui, you guys mentioned on the comments that there’s a chance to get taxi transportation to Heisenji Shrine, but we need to book the one to return. Do you have any suggestions about it? I’m visiting Fukui from 27-29th March, I’m quite excited since I’m visiting for the first time (4th Japan trip for me).
Wish this video was out last year when I was planning my trip to Fukui 🙁 Make me considering Fukui again from Nagoya!
Enjoyable video. Raina is so cute!
Absolute disappointment. You are shuttled into modern wooden coffin to peak narrow views of the old structures, Zero vibes, compared to other historic temples in Japan. Tax driver charged us $20 US for 8 minute drive from train station. Pure tourist trap. Stay away at all costs.
Fukui looks amazing! And Raina’s a gem 💎
