Let me get straight to the point with an important message for all travelers worldwide: If you are planning to visit the “Nishinari” area in Osaka, you MUST do your research beforehand!

While Japan is known as one of the safest countries in the world, Nishinari has a very unique and complex history. Therefore, for solo female travelers: staying in super-cheap hostels or walking around alone at night is an absolute NO. Please prioritize your safety and know the rules of the area.

However! If you understand the real situation and visit during the day, you’ll discover a deeply fascinating town full of Showa-era history and warm humanity.

In this video, after receiving a thorough safety lecture from my local friend, I explored Nishinari with full precautions!

・ホルモン道場：ジャンジャン横丁にある立ち食いの名店。目の前の鉄板で焼かれる新鮮なホルモンとビールが最高！
・八重勝（やえかつ）：山芋ブレンドのフワサク衣がたまらない大行列の串カツ店。二度漬け禁止！
・千成屋珈琲：大阪名物「ミックスジュース」発祥のレトロ喫茶。今回はテイクアウトして街歩きのお供に🥤
・西成ウォールアートプロジェクト：CASPERさんなど有名アーティストによる壁面アートがフォトジェニックな下町スポット。
・スーパー玉出 / 阪堺電車：ド派手なネオンとレトロな路面電車。大阪のノスタルジックな日常風景です。
・通天閣：新世界のシンボル！足元が透ける「跳ね出し展望台」のスリルと、ビリケンさんがお出迎え。（公式インスタフォローでビスコがもらえるかも！）
・かすうどん：大阪・南河内地方のソウルフード。牛の腸をじっくり揚げた「油かす」の旨味が溶け出した絶品お出汁。
