    The Kurushima Strait is a strait in the Seto Inland Sea that separates Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture from Oshima Island off the coast.
    The tidal currents reach up to 10 knots per hour, making it one of the three major tidal currents in Japan, along with the Naruto Strait and the Kanmon Strait.
    Since ancient times, it has been sung as “First is Kurushima, second is Naruto, and third is Umaseki Seto (Kanmon Strait),” and it has been described as a beautiful scenery of Seto and a difficult place for navigation.
    The Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge spans the Kurushima Strait with a total length of 4,015 meters. When it was completed in 1999, it was the world’s longest suspension bridge.
    The Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge is the world’s first triple suspension bridge, consisting of three long bridges with six main towers and four anchors.
    This bridge is part of the Shimanami Kaido, which has a total length of approximately 60km and connects Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture.
    The Kurushima Kaikyo 1st. Bridge has a main span of 600 meters. It is the 63rd longest suspension bridge in the world.
    The Kurushima Kaikyo 2nd. Bridge has a main span of 1,020 meters. It is the 26th longest suspension bridge in the world.
    The Kurushima Kaikyo 3rd. Bridge has a main span of 1,030 meters. It is the 25th longest suspension bridge in the world.
    The bridge also has bicycle and pedestrian paths.

      来島海峡大橋は、6つの主塔と4つのアンカーで3つの長大橋梁により構成された世界初の3連吊橋です。広島県尾道市と愛媛県今治市を結ぶ全長約60kmのしまなみ海道の一部です。
      来島海峡第一大橋は、中央径間600メートルです。吊橋の長さは世界で63位です。
      来島海峡第二大橋は、中央径間1,020メートルです。世界で26位です。来島海峡第三大橋は、中央径間1,030メートルです。世界で25位です。
