石見神楽・大蛇（おろち）1幕 姫取り＠EXPOホール 大阪・関西万博 2025…1st act of the Iwami Kagura “Orochi”, Osaka-Kansai EXPO 2025

大阪・関西万博のEXPOホール（Shining Hat）で行われた石見神楽の演目「大蛇（おろち）」の「第一幕　姫取り」の様子（20秒）です。
大蛇は石見神楽の代表的な演目で、日本神話の英雄である須佐之男命（すさのおのみこと）の八岐大蛇退治を今に伝えています。
通常8体の大蛇で演技が行われるのですが、万博特別演出で55体の大蛇が登場しました。スケールの大きさやダイナミックさは圧巻でした。

本映像は「第一幕 姫取り」の一部です。八岐（やまた）の大蛇が毎年現れ、娘が1人1人と攫われていきます。残った1人稲田姫もこのままではいずれ大蛇に攫（さら）われてしまいます。

This is a clip from the final act of “Orochi” (The Great Serpent), a performance of Iwami Kagura held at the EXPO Hall (Shining Hat) at the Osaka-Kansai Expo.Kagura (神楽) is a traditional Japanese performing art that combines sacred music and dance to honor the Shinto gods.
Orochi is a representative performance of Iwami Kagura, depicting the legendary hero Susanoo-no-Mikoto’s battle against the eight-headed serpent from Japanese mythology.
Typically performed with eight serpents, this special Expo production featured 55 serpents, creating an awe-inspiring scale and dynamism.

This video is a part of “Act 1: The Abduction of the Princess.” The Yamata no Orochi appears every year, abducting one daughter after another. The remaining princess, Inada Hime, will eventually be abducted by the Orochi as well.
