コンクリート造の神社！福井駅近くの「福井神社」を散歩【隠れた戦後モダニズム建築】

福井駅や福井城址の近くにある福井神社を散歩してみました。
福井神社は、福井藩16代の藩主の松平春嶽を祀る神社です。1943年に創建されたもので、日本で最後に別格官幣社に指定された神社です。1945年に戦災によって社殿が焼失し、1957年に、特徴的な鉄筋コンクリート造の社殿が再建されました。境内の建物も、コンクリート打ち放しのモダニズム様式でつくられています。設計者は、福井大学の助教授だった建築家・五十嵐直雄です。

We took a walk around Fukui Shrine, located near Fukui Station and the ruins of Fukui Castle.
Fukui Shrine is dedicated to Matsudaira Shungaku, the 16th lord of the Fukui Domain, and was built in 1943; the shrine was destroyed by fire in 1945 due to war damage, and was rebuilt in 1957 with a distinctive reinforced concrete structure. The precincts of the shrine were also built in a modernist style with poured concrete. It was designed by architect Tadao Igarashi, who was an assistant professor at the University of Fukui.
