Plum Festival in Kairakuen – The Essence of Early Spring【茨城･水戸の梅まつり】
129th Mito Plum Festival
🌸The Mito Plum Festival has a history of over 120 years.
It is held at Kairakuen, one of the three most famous gardens in Japan, and Kodokan, a historic feudal school.
In the garden, 3,000 plum trees of about 100 varieties bloom beautifully, as if to announce the arrival of spring. You can enjoy viewing plum blossoms over a long period of time, with early, mid-season, and late blooming varieties.
During the festival, a various events are held, including the Night Plum Festival and the National Plum Wine Festival, where plum wines from all over the country are gathered.
🌸Highlights of Kairakuen
🌸Plum grove: The vast plum garden is a spectacular sight with white and red plums in full bloom.
🏯Kobuntei: A two-story, three-level wooden building with a panoramic view of the entire garden.
🍰Cafe Raku: A cafe inside Kobuntei. The tiramisu served in a masu box is popular.
🎋Bamboo and cedar forests: Enjoy the silence and beautiful scenery while strolling through nature.

📚 Highlights of Kodokan
Founded in 1841, it is the largest feudal school in Japan. It is a famous spot that many people visit even today due to its historical value and magnificent architectural beauty.
📚 Shizen-do: The central building of Kodokan, it was used as a place to value academics and etiquette.
🚪 Main gate and front gate: The solid structure exudes the dignity of a samurai. The main gate has been designated as an Important Cultural Property.
🌸 Plum grove: A famous plum grove that rivals Kairakuen. The best time to see the plum blossoms is from February to March.

🌸120年以上の歴史を持つ「水戸の梅まつり」
日本三名園の一つである偕楽園と、歴史的な藩校である弘道館を会場に開催されます。
園内には約100品種3,000本もの梅が、春の訪れを告げるかのように可憐に咲き競います。様々な品種があるため、早咲き、中咲き、遅咲きと長期間にわたり観梅を楽しむことができるのも魅力です。
まつり期間中には、夜間の幻想的な観梅を楽しめる「夜・梅・祭」や、全国の梅酒が集まる「全国梅酒まつり」など、多彩なイベントが開催されます。
🌸偕楽園（かいらくえん）の見どころ
🌸梅林：広大な梅園は、白梅や紅梅が咲き誇る様子が圧巻です。
🏯好文亭（こうぶんてい）：庭園全体を一望できる二層三階建ての木造建築。
🍰カフェ「樂」：好文亭の中にあるカフェ。枡に入ったティラミスが人気です。
🎋竹林・杉林：自然の中を散策しながら、静寂と美しい風景を楽しめます。
