【恐竜電車🦖】恐竜だらけの福井県で、恐竜列車に乗って、世界三大恐竜博物館に行ってみた
I went on a trip full of dinosaurs in Fukui Prefecture, Japan’s dinosaur superpower! A must-see for dinosaur lovers around the world! The journey began The journey begins in Fukui Prefecture, about 3 hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Fukui Station West Exit Dinosaur Square The dinosaurs immediately greeted us. Don’t you wonder, “Why dinosaurs?” In fact, about 80% of dinosaur fossils excavated in Japan are found in Fukui Prefecture! Fukui Prefecture is truly the “Dinosaur Kingdom”! Therefore, dinosaurs can be seen everywhere around Fukui Station. Dinosaur vending machines Now, let’s go get a ticket to ride the dinosaur train.“Echizen “Echizen Railway Fukui Station” Please note that the boarding station for the dinosaur train is “Echizen Railway Fukui Station” located in the building next door, not JR Fukui Station. I’ll get a ticket at the ticket office! [Dinosaur train ticket price] (⚠️As a general rule, advance reservations are required online) This dinosaur train ticket price includes the “Dinosaur Museum admission fee”! It’s ticket gate time! 9:35 Dinosaur train ! The cute dinosaur train has arrived! Apparently there are 71 different types of dinosaurs drawn on the exterior, so if you know anything about dinosaurs, I think you’ll have a lot of fun. Now let’s get on board! I rode in the second car, the “Fossil Excavation Zone”, which had fewer passengers! The concept is to make you feel as if you are at a fossil excavation site. This vehicle has 42 fossils of 38 different species drawn on it. Next, the super popular first car, “Jurassic Zone” It depicts 34 creatures from 33 species that lived in the Americas. and at the front of the train is A giant dinosaur head! ! This is a “Triceratops” that resembles a modern rhinoceros. This is a carnivorous dinosaur from Fukui Prefecture called “Fukuiraptor”. As I was exploring the inside of the train, I heard that they were going to give me souvenirs of the ride, so I went back to my seat (I’m looking forward to it). Random dinosaur cards and 2 mini dinosaur figures ! Thank you very much🦖 Let’s go to the opening ceremony right away ! ! Tyrannosaurus is called “the strongest dinosaur in history”! ! This is the one everyone knows! Next, I’ll try to assemble something that looks like a capsule toy. Fukuiraputor! ! Compared to the one on the train earlier, this one is hand-sized and cute ♡ Looks like we’re about to arrive at Katsuyama Station! It was fun and the ride time of about 1 hour flew by! From here (Katsuyama Station), we will take a connecting bus and head to the Dinosaur Museum! Of course, if you have a Dinosaur Train ticket, you can ride for free. The ride scene, which lasts about 10 minutes, is really normal, so I’ll skip it! Get off. Arriving at the museum This museum is one of the world’s three largest dinosaur museums, along with Canada’s Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology and China’s Zigong Dinosaur Museum. Furthermore, next to the museum, the “Faculty of Dinosaur Studies at Fukui Prefectural University” will be newly established, and the first class will be welcomed in 2025! ! The dinosaur doctor’s photo spot ! Let’s go inside huge! beautiful! It’s growing downwards and downwards! The museum is quite large, so I recommend taking advantage of the museum’s free brochure next to the entrance. There are three versions: Japanese, English, and Chinese. The museum has three floors above ground and one floor underground. The 3rd floor is the entrance, restaurants, shops, etc. The 2nd floor contains training rooms, practice rooms (can be viewed from outside), etc. The 1st floor has a dinosaur exhibition room, and the B1F has Dino Street, Bone Bed, etc. By the way, this escalator is said to be 33 meters ( so long) Dino Street Bone Bed Finally, we I meet the museum’s specialty, the “moving Tyrannosaurus”! As expected from T-REX🦖 The dinosaur museum is made up of three zones: “The World of Dinosaurs,” “Earth Science,” and “History of Life.” The vast exhibition room features 50 full-body dinosaur skeletons (10 of which are actual fossils). In addition, with the newly established “Fukui Prefectural University Dinosaur Department” in April 2025, researchers and curators will share lectures, etc., and mutual facilities will be shared. It seems that they are aiming for a new education and research system that integrates universities and museums! Students who are interested in dinosaurs can come here and learn in the best environment! Let’s take a peek at the big Brachiosaurus from below! It looks like Eren Jaeger (only some people can tell).Next Next, I go to the corner where you can see the reconstruction other than the bones. Omeisaurus eating leaves (with an enviable neck length). This is where the carnivorous Gasosaurus (small) is aiming for the leg of the herbivorous Shunosaurus (large). CG video corner Carnivorous dinosaurs are small but active and scary! Sea creatures ! Here is the “Fukuiraptor” robot! Hailing from Fukui Prefecture, it is the first carnivorous dinosaur discovered in Japan to have its entire skeleton reconstructed. He’s a great senior! This is a corner where you can observe metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks. You can focus your camera on the rocks you are interested in and observe them in detail. On the monitor, you can know the age, locality, and classification of the rock. Furthermore, you can learn about the process of rock formation. This is the “fossil cleaning room” Where fossils excavated in Thailand are being cleaned. Like this, they use a microscope and a fine drill to clean them! Such a big fossil! In order not to damage the fossils, this is a very detailed, careful, and painstaking process, but this process is extremely important. In the laboratory, young students seem to be learning about fossils. It was almost noon, so I moved to the restaurant! The inside of the restaurant looked like a food court in a shopping mall, and about 80% of the guests were families. The menu included several types of curry, kids plates, cream pasta, burger sauce cutlet bowl, Fukui specialty Bolga rice, and grated rice. You can order soba noodles, rice burgers, mysterious cakes, puddings, parfaits, dinosaur sodas, frappuccinos, etc. from the three touch panels inside the restaurant. This It! It has arrived! When my number was called, I went to the serving area to take a photo. I had the Black Beauty Curry and the diorama pudding (cute) . Well, let’s have it😋 I was wondering what it would taste like since it was black, but it turned out to be a delicious curry! I had this bite like Luffy’s, and it was juicy and delicious! I’ll have pudding after dinner! It’s hard to get it off… lol It’s pretty hard, and the taste was like, “This is my first time tasting it!” and I forgot what else I thought. It’s a taste I’ve never tasted before! After the meal, go to the “shop” next door. There are other corners on the grounds of the dinosaur museum where you can buy souvenirs, but this “shop” on the 3rd floor of the main building has a huge variety of products. I think it would be fun just by itself! This is a cute “dinosaur strap 🦖” that is cute just by attaching one. This is the Fukui specialty “Habutae mochi” which I also purchased. It is a thick and sweet candy made with sticky rice, sugar, and starch syrup! Dinosaur capsule toy and commemorative medal generator Finally, it seems that there is something amazing in the new building that will be reopened and expanded in 2023, so I’m going to go check it out! It’s already showing! By the way, why did it reopen in 2023? Probably, but I think it was timed to coincide with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Fukui in March 2024! The new building’s symbol monument is the Dinosaur Tower. It is a large tower that stretches from the first to the third floor, and is said to feature five dinosaurs and one bird discovered in Fukui Prefecture. By the way, a special exhibition was being held in this new building, and many reproductions of fossils discovered in North America, the forefront of dinosaur excavation, were on display! Please note that the special exhibition is not included in the Dinosaur Train ticket price and requires a separate fee. It’s almost time for the return bus, so we head home. “Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum” was amazing! The view while lining up at the bus stop for Katsuyama Station. Arriving at Katsuyama Station. It’s a quiet and lovely station. The station building is small and relaxing. Echizen Railway and dinosaur collaboration T-shirts were on sale. On the way back (to Fukui Station), we will ride the dinosaur train! Dinosaur Train tickets are one-way tickets, not round-trip tickets, so you will need to purchase a separate ticket for the return train (of course, there is also a regular train toFukui Station). I recommend this train as it is busier than the one going there. I also received a random dinosaur card just like the train I went to! Opening Ceremony 2 “Allosaurus” A dinosaur excavated in Utah, USA. It is said to be a carnivorous dinosaur with a large head and a thick, short neck. We are about to arrive at Fukui Station. The ride time is one hour, but there are in-car recreations and animations, so it feels like it flies by quickly. Arrived at Fukui Station. Bye-bye Dinosaur Train 👋 Here’s the extra part! Don’t forget that this “Dinosaur Train” ticket can also be used as an “Echizen Railway 1-day free ticket”! ! Desperate to make ends meet, I would like to take advantage of this ticket and head to a certain place. That place is Awara Onsen ♨︎ (Dinosaur Doctor again) Awara Onsen has 74 hot springs, and you can enjoy hot springs with different quality and efficacy at many hot spring inns. This time, I will not be able to go home unless I return to Fukui Station on the next train (30 minutes later). Recommended for those who don’t have much time but want to feel like they are in a hot spring, I would like to feel relieved at the “Awarayu no Machi Station Footbath (Ashiyu)” Footbath 1 Footbath 2 Footbath 3 Footbath 4 Fukui Prefecture is the model town for Chihayafuru (poem card game Anime) If you want a sacred place towel, you can buy it for 300 yen. It was summer, but it was very warm and wonderful! The time for the train is approaching, so it’s time to head back to the station. I’m waiting for the train thinking “I want to come back in winter” 🚃♨︎ I returned to Fukui station. I discovered a dinosaur plaza on the roof of the building next to the Shinkansen ticket gate! (Maybe a little-known spot with not many people) There are mini dinosaurs here as well, and they’re very cute🦖 Is this a couple ? Cute ♡ The west exit of Fukui Station It is lit up at night, and it’s even more impressive than it is in the morning! Thank you for watching today! I will continue to do my best, so please subscribe to the channel if you like 🙏
