  1. I'm flying to Kyoto tomorrow and we'll be staying in Saiin area. so glad to hear that it's more local than touristic. So excited to stay for 3 nights there! 😆

  2. I am an early riser tipicaly sunrise hikes in the early hours and be coming back by 10 am. For any of the temples or hikes do they have a time restrition? I would love to have hot tea and watch the sunrise at the orange temple. What are your thoughts ?

  3. The majority of Western tourists to Japan follow “the golden route” – and visit just 3 metro areas: Tokyo, Osaka (maybe Nara) and Kyoto. A lesser percentage will visit Hiroshima (and Miyajima) and fewer still will include Himeji and Kobe. If you want to get a broader view of Japan, consider adding some other destinations. e.g. There are 4,786 shrines in Niigata prefecture and 4,589 temples in Aichi prefecture; most of them won’t have a line of hundreds of tourists queued up to take a photo, unlike Kyoto. If you go to any Japanese city there will be dozens, if not hundreds, of temples and shrines scattered nearby and you can interact with locals who aren't frustrated that their city has been turned in a theme park.

  4. As a fellow creator capturing Japan's beauty, I have to say your color grading is incredible! 👏 Really captures the spiritual vibe of Kyoto. Keep it up!

  5. very helpful, first time travelers, seems like video is prohibited, iPhone pics yes no DSLR cameras? at various places?

  6. Are there any food places you'd recommend for a large group (20+ people), and/or tips for getting around Kyoto with such a large group? Some running friends and I will be taking part in the Kyoto Marathon in about a month, and we've been looking for places where we can all eat together.

  7. I wanted to visit Kyoto so badly but I heard tourists have become such a nuisance I’m holding off…I don’t want to add to a problem.

  8. hey man great vid! Thanks – where did you book your accom? Couldn't find anything in those areas on typical sites. Thanks!

  9. Local residents who rely on buses for daily transportation, especially the elderly, are having great difficulty using the buses because foreign tourists are filling them up with their suitcases. We want foreign tourists to use taxis.

  10. Firstly, thanks for all the suggestions and explanations!!
Can you please tell which is this please at time -> 2:29 I am planning to visit Japan soon, and this places looks calming during night

  11. As mentioned the post pandemic tourism does ruin the experience of the popular sites, it was so different years ago when you sometimes were strolling alone.. But like the advice here says all is not lost, you can avoid the crowds and still find equally beautiful places to visit.

  12. I like these tips. Get up early, get going, hit the big tourist areas, but leave time for spontenaity, chance, and delightful surprises can happen.

  13. IDK I kinda like being around a bunch of other excited people that are on the same journey as me. I don't mind there being a lot of tourists. If I lived there, it'd be different. For example, I live in thailand and hate going to the touristy areas lol, but when I first came here it was fun to go see them and I didn't mind the tourists.

  14. 意訳が多いので、がっかりしながら進めていくことになります。直訳の日本語を意訳の日本語の下に書いてもらえませんか?

  15. I am planning to go with my family (wife and 2 teen kids), wife and husband seems like a place that i would like to go chilling with my wife but does the place will be also something that teen kids will enjoy?

  16. Thanks for all of your insights of Kyoto. Will be there in September and would like to join a cooking class to learn how to make Ramen. Do you have any recommendations?

  17. arashiyama hills area with the temples you mentioned was my favorite. Its quiet and authentic. The rest of Kyoto was kinda cheesy to me would rather spend more time in Osaka the food is better and cheaper and more interesting
