Chirihama Nagisa Driveway is the only beach road in Japan where you can drive right along the shoreline, stretching from Hakui City to Hodatsushimizu Town in Ishikawa Prefecture. The drive spans about 8 km and is a popular spot where regular cars and sightseeing buses can also drive. The sand on the beach is very fine and uniform, and when it contains moisture, it becomes firm like a paved road, so your tires don’t sink and you can drive safely. You can enjoy the exhilarating feeling of driving along the waves and the view of the sunset over the Sea of Japan.
The Noto Peninsula earthquake occurred on January 1, 2024, at 4:10 PM near Suzu City in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture. It was an inland crustal earthquake with a depth of about 16 km and an estimated magnitude of 7.6. Wajima City and Shika Town recorded a maximum seismic intensity of 7, and shakes of magnitude 6 or higher spread throughout the Noto region. The earthquake originated from the active fault zone in the Noto area and happened as an extension of the series of earthquakes that have been occurring since around 2018.
Notojima Aquarium fully reopened on March 22, 2025.
