【Nagata Honjoken Metro Center Nishi-Kasai】
We visited Nagata Honjoken Metro Center Nishi-Kasai in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo.
Located in Metro Center Nishi-Kasai 1st Avenue near Nishi-Kasai Station, this restaurant serves bokkake yakisoba, a specialty from Nagata, Kobe.
Bokkake is a Kobe specialty made by simmering beef tendon and konjac in a sweet and savory sauce.
Pairing it with yakisoba cooked on a hot griddle adds the richness of beef tendon to the fragrant sauce.
This time, we are introducing the “Yakisoba iri zenbu-nose bokkake tamago modan.”
It is a filling dish with bokkake, fried egg, green onions, and cheese layered on egg modan with yakisoba noodles.
The yakisoba uses house-made aged noodles prepared in-store.
The chewy medium-thick noodles have the flavor of wheat and just the right firmness, and mix well with the sauce and sweet-savory bokkake.
You can enjoy the umami of beef tendon, the texture of konjac, and the aroma of cheese, with a sense of satisfaction as you keep eating.
Breaking the fried egg yolk adds mellow richness, and plenty of green onions also work as a nice accent.

To fellow Japanese people, you guys have awesome foods, awesome cooking skills, awesome chefs. But please for Godsake, find some new music for these food reels. This AOT theme, wind by akeboshi and the female singer’s “restaurant” song! F Christ, these three songs haunt me in my dreams now. I see these beautiful cooking thumbnails and everytime I feel scared to click on them, and each time, my fear comes true, one of the three songs r@p€s my ear everytime. Please for Godsake, find some new songs. There are billions of music pieces out there. Or just don’t use any music, we love to hear the raw sound of cooking as well.

I don't know why, but I always get emotional and slightly teary eyed (in a happy, nostalgic way) when I watch these videos. As a hafu Okinawan living in the US, I don't qualify as a true Japanese, but my love for the country and its people are endless. (Especially the FOOD!!!!)
