山形県山形市随一の桜の名所、霞城公園で咲き誇る美しい桜の花々と、夜桜のライトアップ風景を映像化しました。
霞城公園は、戦国時代から江戸時代前期にかけての出羽国の大名であった、最上氏第11代当主、最上 義光(もがみ よしあき)の時代に城郭を拡大したとする山形城跡のうち約35.9haの面積を整備した都市公園です。
かつては、武家屋敷群も存在していた三の丸まであったとされていますが、大部分は市街地化され、本丸と二の丸跡が霞城公園として残されています。
別名霞城(かじょう)や霞ヶ城(かすみがじょう)とも呼ばれていた山形城は、国の史跡に指定されて、日本100名城の1つにも選定されています。
敷地内には約1500本の桜の花が咲き、開花時期になると、桜まつりにあたる「霞城観桜会」が催される他、開花期間中の夜間には、桜の花々を照明で幻想的に照らし出す、夜桜のライトアップも実施されます。
また、霞城公園沿いには、山形駅から発着する山形新幹線が通過する線路も通っている事から、お花見シーズンになると花見客だけではなく、鉄道ファンも訪れる鉄道撮影スポットとしても人気があります。

Kajo Park is an urban park developed over an area of ​​approximately 35.9 hectares within the ruins of Yamagata Castle, which is said to have been expanded during the reign of Mogami Yoshiaki, the 11th head of the Mogami clan, who was a feudal lord in Dewa Province from the Sengoku period to the early Edo period.
It is said that the area once included Sannomaru, where samurai residences were located, but most of it has been urbanized, with the remains of Honmaru and Ninomaru remaining as Kajo Park.
Yamagata Castle, also known as Kajo or Kasumigajo, has been designated as a national historic site and has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 Famous Castles.
Approximately 1,500 cherry blossom trees bloom in the park, and during the blooming season, the Kajo Cherry Blossom Festival, which is equivalent to a cherry blossom festival, is held.In addition, at night during the blooming period, the cherry blossoms are illuminated at night, giving a fantastical light to the cherry blossoms.
In addition, the Yamagata Shinkansen, which departs and arrives at Yamagata Station, runs along the tracks of Kajo Park, making it a popular spot for taking photos of trains during cherry blossom season, not just for cherry blossom viewers but also for train enthusiasts.
